Current product focus is on the privacy-centric messenger and group chat functionality, and we’ve just kicked off development of our new ‘multi-chain from the ground up’ crypto Wallet. ÐApp browser and blockchain node functionality will follow next. Status desktop is currently built using Nim & QT for the frontend, and it shares a common backend with Status mobile that is written in Go. We are currently in the middle of a large refactor of our architecture. This refactor includes transitioning the QT front end from Nim to C++, moving all business logic to our status-go backend, and upgrading from QT5.14.2 to QT6.2. You can find more information about our desktop effort in this blog post. \n\nThe desktop team is looking for a QA Test Engineer to help us create a Status desktop product with consumer level quality. In this role you will be working closely with designers to fully understand the design vision for the product, and working with the product and devs to identify, reproduce, document and communicate the bugs and issues that need to be solved. The desktop team is spread out in North America, Europe and Australia, with crossover work hours being the European timezone afternoon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Our attitude towards ZK: Vac <3 ZK.\n\nThe role?\n\nThis role will be part of a new team that will make a provable and private WASM engine that runs everywhere. As a compiler engineer, you will be responsible for researching, designing, analyzing and implementing zero-knowledge circuits that allow for proving private computation of execution in WASM. This includes having a deep understanding of relevant ZK proof systems and tooling (zk-SNARK, circom, Plonk/Halo 2, zk-STARK, etc), as well as different architectures (zk-EVM Community Effort, Polygon Hermez and similar) and their trade-offs. You will collaborate with the Vac Research team, and work with requirements from our new Logos program. There are many ways to make the lives of developers easier, and everyone has their own best way, which also means every team has their own way. There is no perfect way to make everyone happy with the same thing.\n\nSupporting developers involves debugging obscure bash scripts from years ago that nobody remembers. It means biting on a piece of wood and using data formats turned programming languages like YAML to configure CI jobs. It means tracking down minute differences between releases of packages and libraries causing unexpected crashes. It means rewriting the same Dockerfile for the 5th time to allow a project to use one more obscure library. Or tracking down absurd race conditions of multi-threaded tests running in parallel on the same host. Or pulling your hair out at a bug only to realize it works fine after the CI worker host is restarted.\n\nBut fundamentally it means wrestling it all into submission and making it run smoothly... at least for as long as you're there.\n\nIf you have the guts to fight against entropy and deterioration of the reality we inhabit, then you just might also be crazy enough to enjoy the struggle while it lasts, and appreciate the eventual fruits of our labour, if you value privacy, freedom, and transparency. You will work on extending this platform and contributing to the open-source code base. The medium-long-term plans for SpiffWorkflow are very exciting as we want to integrate it with blockchain infrastructure and use it as a key tool in our strategic vision to become a DAO. This role will suit someone who enjoys working in greenfield environments, has lots of experimentation and testing to find the correct path forward, enjoys the technical and product side of software development, and would like the opportunity to grow.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n\n* Key developer on SpiffWorkFlow (Process Orchestration Engine) to drive all development efforts on the platform within Status/Logos\n\n* Work closely with internal stakeholders to define the vision for SpiffWorkflow\n\n* Collaborate with internal and external teams to decentralize SpiffWorkflow with blockchain integration and Web3 single-sign-on\n\n* Design technical solutions based on requirements put together by BAs\n\n* Manage your own workload and deliverables for SpiffWorkflow development\n\n* Work closely with the Vendor team who built SpiffWorkflow for knowledge transfer and up-skilling\n\n* Initially, you will work on small feature improvements as you are up-skilling on the platform.
