Silverfin is hiring a Remote Experienced Ruby Product Engineer
We start with the cliff notes about the position. If this appeals to you, continue reading for a longer text about working at Silverfin and your role ๐
At Silverfin, we're an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. Although we know weโre not perfect yet, we are working hard on it and always open for your feedback.
According to our vision to build a diverse, equitable and inclusive organisation, our policy is to only make a final hiring decision if minority groups are sufficiently represented in the list of candidates applying for the position. For this reason itโs possible interviews get slightly delayed until weโve reached that goal.
We're committed to elevating talent by creating an environment where we can all thrive together. So if you think you have what it takes, but don't necessarily check every single box, please consider applying. We'd love to hear how you might contribute to our mission and our team.
What can we offer you?
Actual, proper work-life balance
A salary range of โฌ93.000 - โฌ123.000 a year
Employee Stock Option Plan
Choose your own working hours and work 100% remotely
Personal growth training and opportunities
Join a distributed remote-first engineering team with 35 colleagues in 14 different countries
A refreshing work environment with professional, friendly and welcoming colleagues

What will you work on?
Figure out the best way to solve a customer or business problem in close collaboration with a product manager, a product designer and other engineersย
Work on user facing functionalitiesย
Help with discovery and delivery of a solutionย
Give the engineering perspective on potential ways of approaching a specific challengeย
Help with maintenance and support of existing functionality
What are we looking for?
Youโre experienced in both Ruby and Rails, and also understand where the boundaries lie between them. You can code in Ruby without any of Railsโ training wheels if necessary.
You have some experience using Javascript framework(s), understand the value of them, but also know when plain Javascript is enough.
You're interested in getting to know our customers to find the best solution for a given challenge.ย
Youโre up for mentoring coworkers and can give in-depth, productive feedback during code reviews. While you appreciate the small stuff, you recognise bike-shedding and can avoid its pitfalls.
You code with reason and can justify the important decisions you made during development.
You can communicate clearly in English, both in writing and verbally.
You know and can apply best practices when relevant. That means the usual like version control, testing, and refactoring; but also higher level concepts such as good object oriented design.
You're aware of the trade-offs involved in proper engineering and can make balanced business decisions, keeping in mind all the stakeholders of the project.
Youโve got opinions on code design and you can discuss them, but youโre professional enough to not let those opinions get in the way of a consensus if necessary.
If youโre any good at Ruby, this is probably not the first job ad youโve seen, so weโve done our best to stand out while also accurately presenting what weโre all about. If it sounds like you would enjoy working with us, donโt hesitate to apply or drop us a line with questions on [email protected]
Ahum. Here it comes.
Whatโs a Silverfin?
At Silverfin weโre trying to apply the promise of software to the age-old industry of accounting. With our SaaS weโre automating a large chunk of the busy-work that accountants are currently handling manually, and are building new tools so they can provide better services to their customers. We aim to optimise their workflow in such a way that accountants can spend more time on the much more impactful and rewarding work of advising their customers, the business owners.
The good news is weโre succeeding in doing exactly that. Every week more than 15.000 financial service professionals use Silverfin to help and advise more than 400.000 businesses. Our customers adore us! The even better news is thereโs still plenty left to work on, and thatโs where we hope you come in.
Whatโs the product team like?
The product team is a cross-functional team where engineers work together closely with product managers and product designers. The team's input is a user or business problem which it can solve with a high degree of autonomy. From day one all profiles are involved in understanding the problem, ideating solutions and doing quick experiments to prove that a certain solution might actually lead to the desired outcome. After the discovery phase the same team is tasked with the delivery of the chosen solution. The team will then track the adoption of the solution and will make sure that the problem is actually solved. The setup of the team is largely based on the book "Inspired" by Marty Cagan.ย
What does working at Silverfin look like?
The product team will work together with the other Silverfin engineering teams. While the product team is set up as a stream-aligned team, most other teams are set up as platform teams around modules and topics of the Silverfin application. They are helping the stream-aligned team to develop solutions fast and without a lot of mental overhead. The platform teams' focus is the stability and long term architecture of the product as well as building frameworks and libraries that can be used by the stream aligned team. If those terms are not familiar to you, check out the "Team Topologies" book by Manuel Pais and Matthew Skelton which inspired this structure.ย
Our ops team ensures things run smoothly, deploys happen correctly, and will work with you when issues should arise. Weโre enthusiastic followers of the devops mindset, which means ops and developers work together to solve problems, and empower each-other to be self-sufficient, instead of throwing problems over the wall to the โother sideโ.
We run an up-to-date Rails monolith on the backend, with PostgreSQL and Redis for persistence and caching, and everything is running on a Kubernetes cluster in Google Cloud. Our daily tools include GitLab, Quip and Slack, with Zoom as our remote conferencing tool of choice.ย
No code gets deployed without a code-review by a peer and testing is a must. Our pipeline automates deployment when the suite is green, and deploys happen dozens of times a day. Each team is currently doing Kanban, but theyโre free to follow whatever process suits them best. There are regular retros held to work towards continuous improvement.
Software for accountants is not considered to be very exciting, but we have our fair share of technical challenges. To give you a sense of scale: our database exceeds 10TB*, and our largest table has crossed the 10 billion row mark a long while back. We interface with more than 30 different external APIs, and provide third parties an API of our own.
*: Our ops team noted that this actually isnโt that hard to achieve if youโre just indexing everything, but it still sounds impressive, right?
What makes the engineering team at Silverfin special?
Weโre a remote-first engineering team of 35 people distributed in 14 different countries over two continents. A priority for us is maintaining proper work-life balance. We avoid meetings as much as possible, accept deadlines only when absolutely necessary, and never expect anyone to work longer hours than theyโve signed up for. A day in our working lives is pretty boring, and we feel thatโs exactly how it should be.
Working with us means you can be flexible with your schedule. Itโs OK to disappear for a few hours in the middle of the day to run some errands, get a haircut, pick up the kids - whatever reason, you donโt need to explain yourself. You also fully decide when you take time off: our team is sufficiently varied and well organised that there are always enough people around to handle the load, and in the rare cases itโs not, we will decrease the load instead of asking people to move their holiday.
Being remote-first means we favour asynchronous communication. We donโt shy away from chatting in Slack, but the important decisions or discussions are done in Gitlab issues, over email, or in Quip, so thereโs a written, persisted record. Weโre mindful of maintaining long chunks of focussed time, which means we avoid @-mentions or PMs on Slack, and other triggers and interrupts. We encourage using Slackโs DnD function, especially when youโre not working!
Weโd be really happy to welcome you in our #engineering channel, but itโs not just virtual: we make sure we regularly get to see each other in real life too. Twice a year we fly the whole engineering team together to a different location in Europe, and at least once a year we join up with the rest of the company so we can spend some time together with the other departments.
What does your future look like?
Personal growth is key to staying motivated. At Silverfin you donโt need to move to management in order to advance. We see the individual contributor track and the management track as two different growth paths which every engineer can follow and switch between. You can be promoted, including pay raises, as a contributor just like as a manager.
Everyone has a โฌ1000 yearly budget to spend on conferences, courses, workshops or other training to improve their skills and level up. This also includes accommodation, travel costs. If the conference is on a workday youโll get paid like any normal day.
Requirements
You have at least 4 years of experience working with Ruby, or 2 years of experience with Ruby and 4 years in one or more other programming languages
You get Rails
Your work hours have some overlap with EU business hours (we require your local timezone to be within CET +/- 3h)
You can communicate clearly in English, both written and verbally
Nice to haves
These would be nice but are definitely not necessary. Donโt worry if none of the following applies to you.
Experience as a remote worker in a fully remote team
Experience working with large datasets and the problems they bring
You have some experience using Javascript framework(s), understand the value of them, but also know when plain Javascript is enough
Experience in Fintech
Accounting knowledge

CompanyCam is hiring a Remote Director of Product Design
Hi, weโre CompanyCam.
We create simple-to-use, visual-first communication and accountability tools for contractors. Imagine a B2B SaaS (business-to-business software-as-a-service) app that doesnโt look like garbage, built by a team of capable, laid-back people.
But donโt let the chill throw you off; weโre a fast-growing, product-led startup with big plans for the future.
The Role
The Director of Product Design is responsible for the vision and strategy for product design and user experience at CompanyCam. This person will oversee and develop a highly-collaborative team of Product Designers to deliver on this vision and empower them to reach their full potential.
Weโre looking for the person that will champion our belief that a world-class user experience is a product differentiator that will directly impact our companyโs goals for growth.
This role will collaborate with Product Management and Engineering in our product development process to deliver impactful product updates.
In this job you will...
Analyze, design, document and communicateย the short and long-term Product Design strategy.
Create a strategic design and user experience vision based on business objectives, market trends and user feedback that will inspire.
Lead, coach and developย a team of Product Designers in delivering a world-class user experience.
Developย meaningfulย goals for the Product Design teamย individually and collectively.
Collaborate on product strategy alongside product management and engineering, considering the business and technical constraints and impacts on the end users.
Work closely with Product Management and Engineering toward meaningful product updates.
You must...
Show upย every day, taking the courage to do the difficult but necessary stuff.
Grow upย constantly: you're OK working in an environment full of change. You take responsibility, love ownership, learn continuously, and have a growth mindset.
Do goodย by treating your co-workers and customers the way you would like to be treated.
5+ years of overall design experience.
1-2 years of experienceย leading and managing teamsย of designers.
Experience working onย mobile and web-based applications.
Experience leading UX strategies for people, process and product.
A track record of producing intuitive and visually appealing product experiences.
Reside permanently and currently in the United States.ย Sorry, we're not hiring outside the U.S. at this time, even if you're willing to work during U.S. time zones.
It'd be nice if you...
Have experience with launching successful apps forย B2B, B2C and/or SaaS products.
Have experience withย front-end development, pattern and component libraries.
Have experience leading workshops, design sprints and other co-design sessions.
How we work at CompanyCam:
CompanyCam is a fun, fast-paced team united by our core values ofย Show Up, Grow Up and Do Good. We trust you to do whatโs best for our product, customers, and team members and empower you to make the right calls without heavy bureaucracy.
Our product design team isย mostlyย located in Lincoln, Nebraska but across our product and engineering teams, we span every time zone in the United States. We welcome people fromย all backgroundsย and donโt really care whether you have a design degree or even a high school diploma. All that matters is that youโre good to work with and youโre great at what you do.
Our Product and Engineering departments also do things a little differently.
We use a customized version of Basecampโsย Shape Upย method (fused with empowered product teams a la Marty Cagan'sย Inspired) to organize and execute our work. We work in close-knit teams consisting of a product manager, a product designer, an engineering manager and other engineers to deliver value in 3-week cycles.
During cycles the team is focused on delivering product improvements, but everyone is also collaborating to shape (generate and vet) work for upcoming cycles. After each cycle your team will stop, reset, and choose to tackle another cycle or take aย cool-downย (a period of undirected work where youโll pursue educational opportunities, work on pet projects, or smash some bugs). Rinse and repeat.
Sounds nice, right?ย No sprinting, no scrumming, no death by 1,000 meetings. We protect our designers' time, treat them like adults, and trust them to get their work done. Weโre also big on not overworking people. Put in your eight hours of focused, quality work and then TURN. SLACK. OFF.ย No nights and weekends.
Our larger company culture is also refreshingly chill. We have fun, learn from each other, and donโt take ourselves too seriously.
We cover the important stuff too. Weย pay well,ย offerย unlimited vacation,ย meaningful equity,ย health insurance, andย other benefits.ย This is a salaried position at CompanyCam.ย Our starting salary range isย $140,000 to $150,000ย and is based on experience.ย
Ready to apply?
If you share our passion for serving our customers andย bringing truth and transparencyย to the contracting industry, weโd love to review your application!ย Are you reading this and wondering if you meetย everyย requirement? Studies show that workplace minorities, such as women and people of color, are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single requirement. At CompanyCam, we pride ourselves on celebrating everyone. We are actively working on creating a diverse and inclusive work environment whereย everyone can thrive.ย If youโre interested in applying, do it! Even if your experiences donโt directly line up or you are โmissing that one thingโ. We are excited to read your application!
For any needed accommodations during the hiring process, please email [email protected]

Your Job
If you are a Senior Product Manager who's interested in building products to improve the job posting and job application experience, Indeed is looking for you!
The SMB (Small and Medium Business) Labs group at Indeed is a versatile group of different product teams. We pride ourselves on being able to take on new challenges in completely new business areas and deliver impact. Weโre currently working on initiatives to help employers identify and connect with the most relevant candidates using automation and smart UX.
Our team is located in APAC, and we are currently fully remote. Upon offices reopening post-COVID, all roles on this team will have the flexibility to either return to the office or remain remote.
As a Product Manager at Indeed, you will be working with a small team and figuring out how to help our customers and jobseekers in the hiring process
You will be empowered to set ambitious goals for your product and team. Your goals will not be easy to achieve; they should inspire and motivate the team to think big.
You will work closely with the development team on a daily basis. You will sit next to developers, define requirements and analyze tests with their input.
You will do data analysis yourself, whether itโs doing queries in MySQL, searching through logs, or using the plethora of in-house tools for analyzing data.
You will constantly create hypotheses for improving your product, test them, and learn from the results.ย ย
Our product development philosophy is similar to the Lean Startup philosophy. You will create MVPs, prototypes, simple tests to validate ideas and iterate.ย
We would prefer to spend time simplifying a feature to get it out the door this week than building flashy PowerPoint decks for all-hands meetings.
This is a unique opportunity to work with incredibly talented team members in a US-originated product development culture and environment.
Who You Are
Product Managers at Indeed are analytical, creative, and collaborative. We obsess over data and drive for simplicity.ย
You will guide the team by exemplifying these core values.
Product Managers have the responsibility to deliver results, but no direct authority over peers in Engineering and Design. A successful Product Manager leads by developing the trust and respect of teammates so you will have to influence others to follow your vision.ย
You and your peers will be custodians of the Indeed culture of data and collaboration.
You will enjoy a casual work environment, flexible hours, and great compensation and benefits. There is a complete lack of office politics; if that is your specialty, look elsewhere.
You will wear many hats and constantly learn new things on the job. You will be surrounded by smart, dedicated, nice people. You will be proud of the companyโs mission and your products' impact.
Requirements
Must have an Associate's degree or higher in the related field to the position you are applying for

Who are we?ย
At RDX Works, we're a team of like-minded thinkers who have long been convinced that we're living in the earliest stages of a global financial revolution. This revolution is being fuelled by decentralized finance (or DeFi for short), which is enabling an assortment of pioneering developers and entrepreneurs to re-invent almost every financial product that is currently traded and invested in traditional markets, without requiring central authorities or siloed infrastructure. DeFi has captured a great deal of attention and investment in the crypto-aware niche, growing assets under management from $1 billion to over $200 billion in a few years. Impressive as its growth has been, its current market size isn't even a rounding error on the over $400 trillion held in traditional finance. We're focused on what it will take to go from billions to trillions.
RDX went back to first principles to come up with the right technical solutionโthe first layer-one protocol built specifically for mainstream DeFiโand we have already tested out at over 1 million transactions per second. We're keenly aware that the need for an infinitely scalable platform is only one prerequisite among many for mass adoption, and we're also blazing new ground in the areas of purpose-built developer tools, user experiences, and regulatory integration.
We have forged a path deep into the future of what distributed ledger technology is going to look like and we need you to come and be part of the team that is making that happen right now.
If this job sounds like it was made for you, then please apply directly via the link or if you donโt have an up-to-date CV to apply with, please contact [email protected] for more information.
Alternatively, if you feel like you donโt match all of the requirements, we would love you to still apply anyway. We understand that confidence gaps and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting incredible candidates and we wouldnโt want this to prevent us from meeting you; especially as we are big advocates of helping people learn & grow. This is also another reason we do not advertise salaries, we want to keep it as even a playing field as possible!ย
Here at RDX Works, we believe in being salary agnostic. This means that we pay salaries based on your expertise and what you can add to the business, aligning with London market rates; not based on your location or the economy of your country of residence.

Close is hiring a Remote Senior Staff Frontend Engineer React
About Us
Atย Close, we're building the sales communication platform of the future. With our roots as the very first sales CRM to include built-in calling, we're leading the industry toward eliminating manual processes and helping companies to close more deals (faster). Since our founding in 2013, we've grown to become a profitable, 100% globally distributed team of ~55 high-performing, happy people that are dedicated to building a product our customers love.
Our appโs frontend is a single-page JavaScript web app mostly written in React (originally built withย Backbone.js). We bundle with Webpack and target only modern browsers. We test with Jest and React Testing Library. Our UI updates in near real-time and is written in LESS/CSS (with flexbox and grid layout) using CSS modules and takes advantage of fun technologies like Websockets and WebRTC.ย
We care about performance (e.g. route-based code splitting), maintainability, and testability of our frontend code. We sweat the UI/UX details and work collaboratively with the Product team throughout the design process. This means diving into lo-fi Freehand wireframes, and communicating continuously when those ideas are brought to life using Figma and code.
Our frontend app is built on top of our REST API & GraphQL endpoints. Our backendย tech stackย consists of Python/Flask, MongoDB, Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Redis. We run our services in Docker on AWS.
We're looking for an experienced full-time (or part-time) Frontend Software Engineer to join our engineering team. Someone who has a solid understanding of web technologies and wants to help design, implement, and launch major user-facing features.
You should have senior level experience (~5 years) building modern frontend applications in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with at least 3 years of that experience using React.
You should have significant experience designing, debugging, and optimizing frontend applications to make them fast and reliable. You have significant experience with REST APIs and thoroughly understand HTTP requests. You have experience participating in code reviews and providing overall code quality suggestions to help maintain the structure and quality of the codebase.
You should have great product sense and be able to think through user experience issues before diving into the code, and you exhibit a love for great UI.
Youโre comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a small and talented team where you're supported in your efforts to grow professionally. You are able to manage your time well, communicate effectively and collaborate in a fully distributed team.
You are located in an Americas time zone. Not in an Americas timezone? Take a look at our other job postingย here.
Bonus points if you have...
Experience implementing real-time (e.g. websockets, polling, etc.) web apps
Experience working with GraphQL endpoints
An eye for design and experience with Figma, Sketch, Abstract, Photoshop, or similar
Led small project teams building and launching features
Contributed open source code (core or plugins) for a popular frontend framework such as React, Vue, or Angular
Built B2B SaaS products
Experience with sales or sales tools
Come help us with projects like...
Conceiving, designing, building, and launching new user-facing features
Working with Twilio's API, WebSockets, and WebRTC to improve ourย calling features
Building user-facing analytics features that provide actionable insights based on sales activity data
At Close, everyone has a voice. We encourage transparency and practice a mature approach to the work-place. In general, we donโt have strict policies, we have guidelines. Work/life harmony is an important part of our business - we believe you bring your best to work when you practice self-care (whatever that looks like for you).ย ย
We come from 16 countries located in 5 of the 7 continents -- looking at you Antarctica and Australia ;-) โฆ.. Weโre a collection of talented humans rich in diverse backgrounds, lifestyles, and cultures. Every year we meet up somewhere around the world to spend time with one another. These gatherings are an opportunity to strengthen the social fiber of our global community.
Our team is growing in more ways than one - weโve recently launched 17 babies (and counting!). Unanimously, our favorite and most impactful value is โBuild a house you want to live in.โ We strive to make decisions that are authentic for our people and help our customers become more successful.
Our application process was designed to promote equitable and unbiased hiring practices. We ask a small series of questions that are similar to what would be asked in the first interview. This helps us learn more about you right from the start so please be sure to answer each question thoughtfully. Each application will receive two screens by two different reviewers. Regardless of fit, you will hear back from us letting you know if we'll be moving forward.

๐ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!
When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. Remote OK accepts no liability or responsibility as a consequence of any reliance upon information on there (external sites) or here.
TL;DR: If you like working on a creative tool instead of designing lists and grids, we should talk :)ย
VEED.IO is an online video editing platform that makes creating videos easy and accessible to everyone. Millions of creators around the world use our products to tell stories, create content, grow their audience, and more. Besides video editing, we're currently also working on recording and live streaming tools.ย
We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to help us build and improve our products.
Reach out if you...ย
If you love creating simple experiences that anyone can use. We believe that design is our differentiator โ there are a lot of tools out there already, but they're all confusing and super hard to use. With our editor, recorder, live streaming and other tools, we think that making this simple will change the game. This unlocks an entirely new group of creators.ย
If you're excited about building tools that help people tell their story, if you don't mind working a little scrappy, if you like to design based on vision, talking to users and data, we would love to talk to you ๐
We're only just getting started โ right now is a great time to join us. You'll be one of the first few designers here, so you can grow along with our company and make a massive impact. Imagine if you were one of the first designers at Figma โ this is like that.
If you have any questions, feel free to send a message to [email protected]ย (Head of Product).ย
