\nCOVID 19 UPDATE: \n\nWe have leaned into the current health crisis with the development of new features like Volusion Curbside. Since March, we have hired more than a dozen new Volusioneers with no signs of slowing down. We are actively interviewing for key roles in order to keep up with our product roadmap goals. During these unprecedented times Volusion continues to provide stability and growth opportunities to our employees and merchants alike.\n\nWe are doing our part to flatten the curve so for the time being all interviews will be conducted virtually. As a company ALL employees are currently working remotely.\n\nLocation Flexible:\n\nIf “Location Flexible” is listed in the job title of a role, the role can be located in any of the states where Volusion is authorized to do business. You will ensure that experience is first class by building secure, easy to understand, and well-documented APIs.\n\n* Solve with creativity and autonomy: We don’t always want the simplest solution to a problem. We want great solutions that exhibit creativity, address our customers’ needs, and allow you to flex your programming muscles.\n\n* Move fast: We like to go! Failure is not getting something wrong; it’s taking so long to get something right that we miss an opportunity. If you like ownership and aren’t afraid to try things, adjust, improve, take responsibility, and try again, you’ll love our fast-paced engineering culture.\n\n\n\n\nWe are looking for someone with:\n\n\n* 6+ years building web applications at scale\n\n* Experience building APIs in Node.js with Typescript (or a similar language and willingness to adapt)\n\n* Experience with both SQL and no-SQL Databases, as well as search and caching\n\n* Ability to design and implement high level architectural choices as well as communicate those designs with other engineers\n\n* Experience working for a SaaS company in an agile environment\n\n* Experience working in a fully CI/CD pipeline\n\n* A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or other Engineering discipline\n\n\n\n\nWe would prefer someone with:\n\n\n* 2+ years using React, Vue, or another modern JavaScript framework\n\n* Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB\n\n* Experience with server side rendering\n\n* Experience with Algolia and Redis for search and caching\n\n* Knowledge of page speed insights and SEO best practices\n\n* E-Commerce experience, both as a developer and as a merchant\n\n* Experience building website builders\n\n\n\n\nVolusion’s Technology Stack:\n\n\n* JavaScript and TypeScript-based front-ends, particularly Next.js, React, and Node.js\n\n* MobX, MobX State Tree, and server-side and client-side rendering\n\n* Public-facing REST APIs\n\n* Google Cloud Platform including Kubernetes, Firebase, and managed database services\n\n* SQL and no-SQL Databases; specific experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB is a plus\n\n* Search and caching using Elasticsearch, RediSearch, Algolia, and Redis\n\n\n\n\nWho is also the embodiment of our culture code (we hope you are nodding your head in agreement as you browse through it!):\n\n\n* Humble: Have humility and be respectful; no egos allowed.\n\n* Effective: Get stuff done!\n\n* Adaptable: Willing to fill any role, anytime. \nAt Analytics Fire we are a small, distributed team working on a range of interesting projects -- some that might fit you: currently a scalable IoT platform for utility grade solar power plants, a sales and design tool for residential solar, a voice activated robot arm, and a financial transaction platform. We’re looking for a fun, interesting, and hardcore dev to join our small team of disparate experts.\n\nThis is a remote position. We’re flexible about location and hours, so long as your normal working hours overlap at least partially with normal business hours for the Pacific time zone.\n\nWe’re a really great match for a senior dev who wants to work hard on interesting projects, while also having flexibility around time and geography.\n\nSkills & Requirements\n\nIdeally, you should have 5+ years commercial full stack development, ideally within a startup environment. You should be comfortable autonomously driving your own high quality / high velocity contributions using a range of technologies.\n\nWe work with a variety of technologies, but are currently actively looking for someone with expertise in Ruby and/or React.js.\n\nHowever please do reach out if you think you might be a great fit and have expertise around any other areas of our tech stack:\n\n- Front-end: JavaScript / React\n- Back-end: Ruby / Python / Node.js \n- Data store: MySQL / PostgreSQL / Redis \n- Agile collaboration and devops tools: Github, Trello, Slack, Chef, Ansible, Vagrant, etc\n- Modern software techniques: RESTful APIs, SOA, PaaS, etc\n\nExtra bonus points but not required -- please let us know if you happen to have additional expertise in any of these areas:\n-iOS\n-DevOps \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

\nLoco2 is an independent online agent for rail tickets in Europe. Our mission is to make booking a train as simple as booking a flight. We're integrated with the booking systems of major rail operators, and our ticket coverage is unrivalled and growing.\n\nAbout us\n\nWe're a small team of passionate people. Our technical director is former Rails core team member Jon Leighton. Meet the rest of the Loco2 family.\n\nOur customers are at the centre of what we do, and we're proud to have an average rating of 9.2 out of 10.\n\nWe're growing quickly, and most of this growth is organic, as customers spread the word about the great experience they've had booking tickets with us.\n\nWe have an office in London, but our technical team works remotely and with flexible hours. Everyone in the company uses online tools like Hipchat, Trello, Github and Basecamp to work together.\n\nWe are not a VC-backed startup and we don't think caffeine-fuelled all-nighters are a very good way to grow a company that is built to last. We're driven to delight our customers, but we have lives outside of work too.\n\nTechnical challenges\n\nOur software stack consists of a modern Rails application, a PostgreSQL database and a pure-Ruby backend library which we use to communicate with train booking APIs.\n\nWe're currently integrated with 6 different European rail booking systems, which is how we achieve our very wide coverage. But it also means that we need to diligently manage technical complexity, as each system works in a slightly different way, with its own features and quirks. SOAP is (unfortunately) used by many APIs, which is why we released our open source library, LolSoap.\n\nSome of the most difficult challenges we face relate to routing and making sense of lots of data. Which routes are best to get from A to B? Which booking systems should be queried? How might we cache data without affecting accuracy of results?\n\nAs well as improving and perfecting our product, we also need to scale the business as our sales continue to grow. This involves making sure that performance is optimised and customer problems are minimised.\n\nAbout you\n\n\nWe're looking for new engineers to join the team. An ideal candidate:\n\n\n* Has 4+ years of programming experience\n\n* Knows Ruby or another similar language\n\n* Is comfortable designing object oriented software from scratch, not just implementing CRUD Rails apps; a pragmatist who can see the trade-offs involved in the different approaches to solving a problem\n\n* Thinks independently and critically, striving to discover the root causes of problems rather than treating the symptoms\n\n* Actively considers future maintainability when deciding how to implement something\n\n* Communicates very well using written English\n\n* Learns quickly and independently, but doesn't hesitate to ask for help when needed\n\n* Enjoys getting their teeth stuck into complicated problems, as well as being willing to pitch in on some of the more routine tasks which inevitably arise\n\n* Can be on call from time-to-time during some weekends, in case we need to respond to an emergency problem\n\n* Can work hours that have some overlap with London daytime\n\n* Is motivated by Loco2's mission\n\n\n\n\nHow to apply\n\nEmail [email protected]. Attach a CV if you like, but it's not required.\n\nHere are a few things we'd like to know (but please do tell us other things we didn't know we wanted to know!):\n\n\n\n\n* What are the most challenging/interesting programming tasks you have worked on?\n\n* Why do you want to work for Loco2?\n\n* What are your approximate salary expectations?\n\n\n\n\n\nWe welcome applications from everybody, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. To try to make the hiring process as fair as possible, if we are interested in your application then you'll be asked to complete a programming challenge which is judged anonymously. Our emphasis is on finding somebody with demonstrable skills rather than somebody who is good at self-marketing. This process helps us focus on that.\n\nIf you want to ask any questions before applying, please feel free to email us.\n\nClosing date for applications: Friday 10th July 2015 \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
