We believe in working with a high degree of autonomy while supporting the organization's priorities.\n\n \n\nAbout Vac\n\nVac builds public good protocols for the decentralized web, with a focus on communication and privacy origin in Status app and trying to improve on underlying protocols. We build Waku, ZK tooling and other things.\n\n \n\nStudents Program\n\nThis program is available to undergraduate and graduate students officially enrolled in a university, pursuing their B.Sc. or M.Sc. in the field of Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science or a related domain. The duration of the program is between 3 and 6 months with a commitment of at least 20h/week.\n\n \n\nYou will be helping us to solve one of our open problems related to the networking layer in peer-to-peer networks, ranging from peer discovery, peer scoring or NAT traversal. In an environment where thousands of nodes exist without any entry barriers, you have to i) make sure your node is seen and ii) choose wisely to which subset of peers you decide to connect. The health of your node depends on it!\n\n \n\nYou will be answering some of these questions with our help, being able to present your results to the community with your findings.\n\n \n\nRequirements\n\n\nGood programming skills.\n\nKnowledge in networks and distributed systems.\n\nInterest in learning and working without much supervision.\n\n\n\n\n Bonus if you have\n\n\nNetwork simulation tools.\n\nExperience with peer-to-peer protocols.\n\nInterest in the Ethereum ecosystem.\n\nKnowledge in Distributed Hash Tables.\n\nFluency in C or Python and understanding of software engineering best-practices.\n\n\n\n\n[The above is not a requirement weโd still love to hear from you anyway if you think youโd be a great fit for this role!] \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
