Hostshare is hiring a Remote Frontend Software Engineer Application
A remote contractor role in building the Hostshare travel platform. (Potential for long term, full-time employment)
Our Company
Hostshare, who recently got covered on the My First Million Podcast (episode 451), lets short term rental hosts turn their unbooked vacation rental nights into valuable currency, allowing them to explore the world and travel for free (only paying for a cleaning fee). We are building hostshare as a yearly membership service and travel platform to disrupt a market that has a lot of untapped value with properties that are โunbookedโ about 50% of the time.
Our leadership team is a combined partnership of successful real estate entrepreneurs and a premier idea lab and holding company called Blender.
Role Profile
This role will be on a contractual basis with the Blender team and has potential to turn into full-time employment at the conclusion of the initial contract.
As a frontend software engineer, you will work directly on the Hostshare platform along with our agile development team that will immediately help us grow and launch this new platform.ย Our ideal candidate is someone who legit LOVES to code. You are an innate problem solver and you make sure things are done right and delivered on time.
Youโd be aย great fit if you love to work on the front end because you love beautiful design and a buttery user smooth experience. You may have some full stack experience, but if you had to choose, front end is your jam. Youโll also be working with an experienced full-stack engineer, so good communication and availability is crucial.
Youโd set yourself apart from the rest if are a rockstar with React/Next.js on the web and are efficient with TailwindCSS/TailwindUI. Even better, you also have mobile development experience with React Native or any other technology.
Job Duties - (Day-to-Day)
Building & deliveringย robust, scalable, andย usable software in 1-2 week sprint increments for our current and future products
Working with the team to formulate user stories, and then translate them into pragmatic and effective technical solution
Asking for help immediately when stuck in order to help the team accomplish our goals every single day
Followingย developerย coding standards and properly testing code to ensure efficiency
Contributing ideas for more efficient code and processes
Diving into difficult problems and successfully deliver results on schedule
Occasionally communicating effectively with clients to help resolve any technical support issues in a timely manner
Skills & Requirements
You meet most (if not more) of the following requirements:
4+ย years of recent hands-on front-end and/or full-stack web development experience
Self-Starter, highly motivated, team-player, great communicator, high quality, get-it-done mentality
Experience with of most of these web development programming languages (Next.JS, React.JS , Node.JS, Typescript, TailwindCSS)
Experience working with source code repositories and working with branches
Solid object oriented programming and software design knowledge - you should know how to create software thatโs extensible, reusable, scalable, and meets desired architectural objectives.
Extra Credit Experience
Experience with implementation of a booking travel platform similar to Airbnb or VRBO and with Channel Manager APIs like Lodgify, Cloudbeds, Hostaway, etc.
Experience with mobile app development/design with React Native (or native iOS/Android mobile experience)
Experience with database design and usages of big data and stored procedures with MySQL to build analytic dashboards
Desire to learn and grow into a full-stack developer and potentially fit for a full time role in the future for other projects and ideas within the Blender.
Work Contract
2-3 Month At-Will Contract Starting Beginning of June, 2023
