\nWe are looking for an accomplished and forward-thinking Director of Engineering to join our leadership team. As the Director of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in defining and executing the technical vision of our company, by closely partnering with Product, Marketing, Field Sales and other key cross functional teams. You will be responsible for leading and growing our cloud engineering team, and driving development efforts towards building a reliable, scalable, and operationally-efficient managed SaaS.\n\nYou are:\n\n\n* Passionate about world-class software development and the value it provides\n\n* Excited to roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to deliver objective results\n\n* Eager to thrive with the thrill and ethos of a fast growing startup\n\n* Accountable, bring a sense of ownership and are self-driven \n\n\n\n\nYou have:\n\n\n* 10+ years of experience in software development and delivery in a company delivering an enterprise SaaS\n\n* 3+ years of experience managing a team of 30+ managers and individual contributors\n\n* A passion for working on deeply technical projects involving Kubernetes, public cloud, Kafka, Terraform, distributed systems, and event-based architecture\n\n* Experience developing a strategy and roadmap for your teams\n\n* An entrepreneurial spirit - as we expect each team in Redpanda to organize themselves like a startup\n\n* Comfortable working with a 100% distributed engineering team, collaborating on GitHub, in the open and a self starter\n\n* Golang proficiency preferred\n\n* Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated technical leadership\n\n* An ability to empathize with your fellow employees and customers\n\n\n\n\nYou will:\n\n\n* Lead and manage a team of engineers working on Redpanda Cloud\n\n* Attract and hire top-tier engineers and first-line managers, equip and empower them so our engineering team can scale to meet/exceed expectations and deliverables, and delight our customers\n\n* Manage end-to-end execution of projects for the team. \n\n* Work with engineering leadership and product management to establish technical design and drive vision for Redpanda cloud products.\n\n* Proactively identify potential risks and challenges in development projects, developing strategies and clear action plan and timeline for successful outcome for the company, team, and customers\n\n* Implement performance metrics and KPIs to measure and improve the engineering team's productivity, effectiveness and happiness\n\n* Provide career development guidance, structure, and feedback to team members to nurture, grow and develop highly effective leaders and team members\n\n* Collaborate with our technical field to deliver solutions to challenging problems\n\n* Manage engineering resources and priorities effectively to achieve project goals and meet deadlines\n\n* Exemplify as a strong leader to demonstrate the culture we strive for at Redpanda, focused on customer obsession, being a great human, and winning as a team\n\n\n\n\nKindly highlight if applicable to you:\n\n\n* Knowledge of Linux\n\n* Experience working on data streaming solutions, databases, or storage systems\n\n\n\n\n\nU.S. base salary range for this role is $211,000 - $248,000 (CO, TX) and $243,000 - $286,000 (CA, NY, WA).
