\nWe’re looking for a talented, experienced, software engineers to join our Engineering team and help us on our mission to democratise accounting for small businesses across the world!\n\nFreeAgent is one of the leading online accounting platforms in the UK with 40,000 delighted customers and continued fast growth. You’ll be working with some of the smartest engineers around, collaborating on new features and taking a leading role in solving the technical challenges that come with building a hugely popular web application, in a scalable, performant, and elegant way.\n\nAreas of experience that are valuable in this role\n\n\n* Building and maintaining large, high-scale web apps in production environments\n\n* Ruby on Rails\n\n* Competence in Javascript and front-end frameworks, ideally React\n\n* Solid experience with MySQL, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, ideally at scale\n\n* Comfortable diagnosing performance issues deep down in the stack\n\n* Well read, strong in CS and OO fundamentals\n\n* BSc/Masters degree in CompSci or equivalent\n\n* Leadership skills, line management experience (optional but desirable)\n\n\n\n\nWork environment\nWe have a lovely office in the West End of Edinburgh and offer a relocation package – Edinburgh is a fantastic place to live. It has a vibrant tech scene, the world’s largest arts festival, it has even been voted the best place in the UK to live for the past two years.
