Mission:\nWe’re a non-profit organization on a mission to build an online community, ready to donate their time and skills to cancer-related initiatives.\n\nWho we are:\nWe are a combination of full-time, part-time employees and volunteers which enables us to build a commercial-grade scalable product, using the highest standards of engineering, design and product management - while keeping our budget low.\n\nSkills and Experience:\nWe're looking for an engineer comfortable with working on both front and back end problems. Someone capable of hacking out code alongside designing scalable, performant systems. You will be responsible for helping define the technologies we use, deciding on best practices and helping recruit the rest of a stellar engineering team. The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:\n- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent).\n- Experience developing in Python or an equivalent dynamic language.\n- Extensive programming experience, including both front and back end engineering.\n- Proven record of leading and completing projects.\n- Ability to work within an engineering team, writing and reviewing code in a collaborative format.\n- Strong preference for scalable, performant solutions over short term fixes.\n- Ability to balance multiple competing priorities.\n- Experience collaborating with product managers and designers in an iterative fashion.\n- Ability to consider meta-problems encountered in programming, and solve for the general case.\n- Experience with Javascript, distributed storage and cloud architecture a bonus.\n \nCompensation and Perks\n- Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience.\n- Health benefits, 401K, paid vacation plus major holidays.\n- Awesome start-up environment in the heart of the West Soho, NYC.\n- Opportunity to be a part of a technology product that is directly and immediately doing meaningful work. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
