\nDevOps Technical Manager\n\nCoStar Group (NASDAQ: CSGP) serves up 60+ terabytes of data from 330+ SQL Servers spanning four data centers, two continents, and six time zones. Our highly motivated, extremely talented DevOps (Development Operations) group is growing furiously, and looking for a talented and experienced DevOps Technical Manager to help take us to the next level. Our goal is to provide an exceptional experience for our customers by continued development, refinement, and improvement of our industry leading applications.\n\nMission\n\nThe DevOps Manager is responsible for the deployment and support of systems within CoStar’s development, QA, and production environments. Duties include monitoring systems, identifying and resolving operational issues, and research, development, deployment and maintenance of production applications. In close collaboration with the software developer and testing teams, the DevOps Manager will develop the operational architecture of mission critical software products and automate the support and deployment processes. \n\nObjectives\n\n\n* \n\nManage and mentor DevOps Engineers by providing direction, developmental opportunities, and performance feedback.\n\n\n* \n\nEstablish performance goals for the team and perform annual reviews.\n\n\n* \n\nLead efforts to identify and build out necessary development, QA, and production environments\n\n\n* \n\nAnalyze and resolve problems associated with servers, hardware, applications, and software.\n\n\n* \n\nPartner with developers to provide operational environment expertise.\n\n\n* \n\nBe responsible for sections of a highly performant, stable, and scalable environment.\n\n\n* \n\nActively monitor system operations to maintain good system health, including application/system up time and remote diagnostics.\n\n\n* \n\nEnsure that Client Services and other internal CoStar teams receive timely support for escalated issues.\n\n\n* \n\nHire and develop a team of “A Players”.\n\n\n* \n\nWork with recruiting to identify, hire and onboard top industry talent.\n\n\n* \n\nDrive continuous improvement within Scrum team by focusing on engineering excellence.\n\n\n* \n\nManage up or out any team members that are performing below expectation of position.\n\n\n* \n\nCoach, motivate, train and retain “A Players”.\n\n\n* \n\nDevelop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the CRE Industry and CoStar’s position in the CRE market.\n\n\n* \n\nContinually evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends and best practices that can be used to strengthen CoStar’s technology platform and development practices.\n\n\n\n\n\nCompetencies, Knowledge & Skills\n\n\n* \n\nSetting Objectives\n\n\n* \n\nConducting Employee Reviews\n\n\n* \n\nMotivating & Mentoring Employees\n\n\n* \n\nExperience With Agile/Scrum SDLC\n\n\n* \n\nWorking With Other Technical Managers & Senior Management\n\n\n* \n\nWorking With Internal & External Clients\n\n\n* \n\nOverall System Architecture & DesignExpert knowledge of Chef. 2+ years of experience in a Windows or Linux environment.\n\n\n* \n\nTeam Building Experience\n\n\n* \n\nAdaptability\n\n\n* \n\nDecisiveness\n\n\n* \n\nCRE Knowledge\n\n\n* \n\nAwareness Of Emerging Technologies\n\n\n* \n\n5+ years of experience managing a highly available (99.9%) public-facing, front-end web server / website, with a focus on configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.\n\n\n* \n\n3+ years expertise in F5, Web configurations, caching, and content delivery networks.\n\n\n* \n\n5+ years background with the scalable and open architecture of IIS.\n\n\n* \n\n5+ years monitoring experience tools like SCOM, OpenView, AppDynamics, NewRelic, Splunk, Nagios, Keynote.\n\n\n* \n\n3+ years of experience with VM management, preferably VMWare.\n\n\n* \n\n3+ years knowledge of scripting with PowerShell, or equivalent scripting language.\n\n\n* \n\n3+ years, particularly TFS and GIT, as well as branching and merging principles.\n\n\n* \n\n1+ years of experience with configuration and management of SQL Server Databases.\n\n\n* \n\n1+ years expertise with OS and application installation methods.\n\n\n* \n\nUnderstanding and experience with TCP/IP networking concepts and principles.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdditional desired skills:\n\n\n* \n\nExperience with SQL (especially MS SQL Server), No SQL, Redshift, Cassandra.\n\n\n* \n\nKnowledge of containerization (Docker).\n\n\n* \n\nExperience with DNS, Load Balancing (F5, HAProxy), AWS ELB.\n\n\n* \n\nExperience with automation and continuous integration.\n\n\n* \n\nExperience working in a highly available production environment\n\n\n* \n\nSystems and web security experience.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n*Position offers competitive salary plus benefits, and business casual environment*\n\n\n* Comprehensive medical, dental, prescription and vision benefits with a choice of two plans.\n\n* Company-paid life insurance for one times your annual base salary to a maximum of $300,000 per year.\n\n* Company-paid long-term and short-term disability benefits.\n\n* Stock options, and 401(k) plans.\n\n* Paid vacation days; 5 days sick leave per year, and 2 personal days.\n\n* Ample company paid training throughout the year.\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
