\nWe’re looking for a Technical Operations Engineer who will be performing operations and possibly development support to our Engineering team. This individual will be responsible for the health of our services and entire IaaS ecosystem, assisting developers with releases and ensuring we meet our availability and recoverability requirements across multiple environments. You will be helping implement, support and manage the tools, processes and cloud environments to automate our build, test, deploy, and production infrastructure.\n\n\nWhat You Will Be Doing:\n\n\n* Proactive management and administration of our cloud hosting server environment\n\n* Support local and cloud infrastructure for both internal and customer-facing systems\n\n* Build automation into our process and support continuous integration\n\n* Help troubleshoot issues at any level of the stack – kernel, network, application, database, and services\n\n* Monitor availability and performance of our production applications and environments\n\n* Provide quality assurance testing for features and help ensure a smooth deployment process\n\n* Build and utilize monitoring tools, cookbooks, and checks\n\n* Help facilitate the operation of multiple data centers and the rapid scaling of the DigitalOcean’s network\n\n* Help move our reliability to optimal run time.\n\n* Develop internal documentation for key process/services\n\n* Work closely with engineering, support, and Linux system administrators\n\n* Participate in regular team meetings, ongoing training, and mentoring\n\n* Other duties as required\n\n\n\n\nWhat We'll Expect From You:\n\n\n* Extensive Linux systems experience in large-scale, multi-site environments\n\n* Strong communication skills, with ability to explain technical concepts in clear and concise terms\n\n* 6+ years of experience working in Technical Operations / DevOps / System Administration\n\n* Recognition of the importance of automation on scalability and reliability\n\n* Knowledge of Chef and/or Puppet for automation\n\n* Configuration management experience\n\n* Virtualization experience (KVM, Xen)\n\n* Scripting knowledge (preferably Ruby)\n\n* Experience with monitoring tools, especially Icinga and Nagios\n\n* Networking experience, experience with Juniper is a plus\n\n* Experience with information assurance, CISSP certification is a plus\n\n* A desire to get the best out of everyone on their team with the ability to balance the demands of multiple constituencies, defining priorities and setting appropriate expectations.\n\n* Startup experience a big plus\n\n* Familiarity with incident management practices is a plus\n\n\n\n\nWorking at DigitalOcean:\n\n\n* Competitive compensation including a 401k with up to 4% employer match\n\n* Stock options\n\n* 100% of the premium for health, dental and vision and 50% of the premium for dependents\n\n* Corporate Seamless account to keep your hunger at bay\n\n* Monthly commuter expense (for local workers) and gym membership allowance\n\n* Great office space located in the heart of SoHo\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
