As a key part of the Prota ecosystem, Prota Studios exists to support entrepreneurs of all stripes, from solo founders to intrapreneurs looking to innovate within larger corporations. Accordingly, our approach to engagement structure is extremely flexible. Some projects may be more traditional, cash-only consulting engagements, while others may involve equity and other incentive alignment mechanisms.\nAdditionally, we use a portion of Prota Studios margin to invest directly back into the entrepreneurship ecosystem, providing early funding for founders to rapidly experiment with new ideas and concepts. This is a core part of the Prota Studios mission and serves as another way we support entrepreneurs and founders at every stage of their lifecycle.\nResponsibilities:\nAs a Ruby on Rails Developer, your primary responsibilities include:\n\n* \nDevelop server-side architectures and APIs with Ruby on Rails, leveraging best-practices\n\n* \nArchitect databases (primarily PostgreSQL) and data I/O from 3rd-party APIs\n\n* \nSetup DevOps infrastructures (AWS/Heroku/Firebase)\n\n* \nEnsure responsiveness, performance, and scalability of applications\n\n* \nWork with small teams of developers and designers - in collaboration with other managers and stakeholders - to bring a project to completion.\n\n* \nParticipate in the overall application lifecycle while focusing on coding and debugging\n\n* \nBuild high-quality, reusable code \n\n* \nTroubleshoot and debug applications\n\n* \nStay up to date with current best practices\n\n* \nBuild UI tests, unit tests, and integration tests\n\n* \nCollaborate with a multidisciplinary team of entrepreneurs\n\n\n\nRequirements and Qualifications:\n\n* Entrepreneurial drive and proven product sensibilities: we regularly create, develop, and work with startups\n\n* 5+ years of experience as a back-end developer, including at least 3+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails\n\n* In-depth understanding of web development\n\n* Critical thinker and problem-solving skills\n\n* Team player with an attitude of leaving the campsite better than we found it and weve got each others back state of mind\n\n* Good organizational and time-management skills\n\n* Participation in regular project stand-ups even with potential time zone challenges\n\n* Meet project deadlines\n\n* Effectively communicate with peers, superiors, and stakeholders\n\n* Make rational, logical decisions and the ability to defend them to your peers, superiors, and stakeholders.\n\n* Take responsibility for your work and mistakes.\n\n\n\nLife at Prota / Benefits:\nWe are a fully remote organization, with team members around the world. While the plurality of the organization spends some time in Chicago, there is no location requirement as long as you have a space to work and a good internet connection.
