Applied Pharmacometrics Training Fellowship โAfrica Region
The Applied Pharmacometrics Training Fellowship โ Africa Region is a collaboration between Certara, Pharmacometrics Africa, CP+ Associates, together with several pharma industry and academic partners, to provide an intensive fellowship program for talented and motivated doctoral level scientists from Africa.
The program has 2 components:
Virtual Program โ A 3-month virtual program (Q1 2023) that will provide fellows with exposure to leading edge pharmacometric model based analysis. The time commitment will be significant (e.g. a minimum of 20 hours per week over the duration of the Virtual Program.
Immersion Program โ Upon completion of the Virtual Program, fellows will have the option to extend the program for another 3 months to an project-based program led by Certara and partners from pharma and academia. The program is designed to foster professional development through immersive training on all competencies required for regulatory quality pharmacometrics analyses and reports. Guided by industry mentors, the fellows will receive class-room training, are assigned individual jointly-agreed upon, precompetitive projects and participate in a leadership development program designed to enhance their decision-making and communication skills.
The Applied Pharmacometrics Training Fellowship โ Africa Region aims to build scientific and leadership capability in Africa by enhancing the skills of local scientists and by facilitating knowledge transfer to their wider scientific communities. The relationships forged between the hosts of this program and the fellows' home institutions will further the endeavour to create next-generation medicines to ease suffering and improve quality of life for patient populations around the world. Successful participants in this program will be considered as candidates to join the consulting team for Certara located on-site in Africa.

Included in the internship
Scientific/clinical research infrastructure and training: All necessary equipment, training and operational needs will be provided by the program hosts and their partners to support investigation of a jointly agreed-upon, pre-competitive (non-proprietary) clinical pharmacology scientific question.
For the participants who are selected into the Immersion Program the program sponsors will provide :
Travel, accommodation & visas: (1) round-trip economy class airfare, (2) student-style accommodation for the duration of the on-site program, and (3) support for educational visa applications.
Stipend and health insurance: health insurance and a monthly stipend to cover incidentals and basic living expenses.
Timelines & Location: The 3-month Virtual Program is planned to start in mid-January 2023. The start of the 3-month Immersion Program is planned for 2Q2023.

Qualifications
Eligibility to this program is based on the following criteria:
You have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. pharmaceutical, medical or biological sciences, applied mathematics or statistics)
You have recently completed your PhD or equivalent studies (i.e. early to mid-career)
You should already have done at least 1 clinical pharmacology or pharmacometrics data analysis project using descriptive or a model-based methods
You have evidence of completing relevant courses on model-based analysis methods e.g. Pharmacometrics Africa courses or equivalent
You are a proficient English speaker and based in an African country
You have demonstrated strong team player skills
