MorphMarket is hiring a Remote Senior React Native and Django Full Stack Developer
MorphMarket is the world's biggest marketplace for exotic animals (snakes, lizards, etc.) with over a million users. We're growing fast and branching into aquatics amongst other areas.
**Culture:**
We run a calm, zero politics, zero finger-pointing operation where the focus is on high-quality technical work, on improving as engineers, and on teamwork (in the sense of solving hard problems by communicating and sharing knowledge).
**Location**:
We're based in the US but much of our team is based in the EU so working times where you overlap for approx half the day in the US is fine.
**Technologies**:
You'll need BOTH React Native and Django/Python skills to fill this role. If you don't have significant experience in either of these areas, please do not apply. We specifically need someone who can solve problems that require deep knowledge of both technologies and previous hires missing either of these two weren't able to crack our technical problems.
Knowledge of WebViews is a huge plus.
Other good skills to have
- Django Rest Framework - Swift - Expo - App release processes and navigating app store challenges - Shell scripting - Kotlin - Heroku - SQL speed optimization - React.js - HTTP caching - Queue systems - AWS - Multi-threaded code - Long-form technical communication
**Commitment**
We're looking for 32 hours a week or more, long term. Contractual basis.

It needs to coexist with human-written code, and be readable by humans in order to be truly useful.\n\n* customers stay on our platform because of the openness, flexibility, and value that our platform offers, and not because they are locked into our platform through inaccessible code.\n\n* talent is global and we will strive to make it accessible to our customers with minimal effort. We are looking for like-minded people who believe in our mission, and share our vision of a world where anyone can build software - at scale.\n\n\n\n\nCrowdbotics is in need of a technical writer to make our products easy to use and integrate by creating useful content for developers and everyday users. Our documentation must exemplify quality and instill trust.\n\nCrowdbotics cares deeply about the developer experience for our customers and agency partners. Weโve made a bet that the people building products and companies around Crowdbotics represent a new kind of software creator that, if we do our job right, will become the new normal for how people build software in the next decade โ with readymade parts, cloud talent, and automated tools that empower everyone to be a maker. We see this as the future, and our customers, investors, and the market do too. To that end, Crowdbotics is creating what we call an โOperating System for Application Developmentโ. What exactly does this mean? Contemporary application development requires the use of multiple tools and processes that are often spread across multiple disconnected systems. The Crowdbotics App Builder seeks to unify all these tools and processes into a single system with 4 key facets:\n\n* No-code engine which enables users to build applications without coding, including a way to create database models visually, import screen layouts and designs from common development tools, and visually link screens to external services.\n\n* Workforce management which enables a user to source talent from a curated menu of Crowdbotics experts who can help take your product over the finish line.\n\n* Process and Project Management: We enable a user to manage all aspects of their agile development process, including tasks, milestones, and deadlines.\n\n* Deployment and post-deployment maintenance which allows the user to one-click deploy their application to various cloud providers (Heroku being the most popular), app stores, and to provision and manage other infrastructure resources seamlessly.\n\n\n\nTop 10 reasons to work for Crowdbotics:\n\n\n* Work with helpful, kind, motivated, and talented people.\n\n* Work remote so you have no commute and are free to travel and move.\n\n* Have flexible work hours so you are there for other people and free to plan the day however you like.\n\n* Everyone works remote, but you don't feel remote. We don't have a head office, so you're not in a satellite office.\n\n* Our open architectures enable customers to leverage the โbest-of-breedโ technologies for their business and our platform supports and embraces them.\n\n* Talent is global and we will strive to make it accessible to our customers with minimal effort. We are looking for like-minded people who believe in our mission, and share our vision of a world where anyone can build software - at scale.\n\n* Work on a product used by lots of people that care about what you do.\n\n* Our open systems empower our customers to build future-proof businesses on our platform.\n\n* Focused on results, not on long hours, so that you can have a life and don't burn out.\n\n* Open internal processes: know what you're getting into and be assured we're thoughtful and effective.\n\n\n\n\nCrowdbotics is an E-Verify Employer and this organization participates in E-Verify. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

At 8returns, we're transforming one of the most frustrating, environmentally damaging and costly aspects of e-commerce โ returns. We built a technology that automates the returns process for retailers and makes data-driven decisions to connect each return to its next best use.
We're still in the scrappy startup phase, so we are looking for people who are comfortable with ambiguity and having wide impact. We've been remote-first since Day 1, and care a ton about communication, autonomy, curiosity, and initiative.
We have happy paying customers and just raised our first round of funding from industry leaders. Our team is highly experienced, and has started, scaled and sold companies before. We also love learning from each other, and are looking for people who bring a new set of experiences and backgrounds to our team.
Who you are
You worked remotely before, or know that you'd work well with a remote team.
Ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous work environment
3+ years of experience developing high performance web applications
Strong knowledge of Ruby on Rails and experience designing maintainable systems, APIs, and integrations
You are able to decide what aspects of products need to be perfected and when to cut corners to ship faster
The main app is built with Ruby on Rails and React. We use Postgres, Heroku, AWS. While previous experience with these technologies is a plus, weโre looking for someone with broad experience.
Why you might be excited about us
We're working to solve a massive global problem - 10 billion pounds of returns end up in landfills every year and for retailers itโs a trillion-dollar problem.
We're small, so you'll be able to contribute efficiently and without bureaucracy. You'll quickly have responsibility over big areas of our product. You'll also help build our company's culture.
We don't have a ton of meetings. If we can effectively solve a problem asynchronously, we do. When we do meet synchronously, you'll always have the opportunity to contribute.
You'll be able to work remotely and set your own schedule. We don't micro-manage and will help you do great work. Most of our engineers work EU hours, but organize their work day to be whatever's best for them.
We will mould your role to shape a career you're excited about. We care a ton about your satisfaction and job happiness, and will help prep you for whatever you're looking for in the future.
We work hard and also highly value balanced work/life. We care about family and your own personal development, and don't expect for you to be always engaged with work.
Why you might not be excited about us
We're small (<10 people in the company now), so if you like more established companies, it's not (yet) the right time. Since we're an early stage startup, projects and priorities may shift.
Our customers love us, and there's a lot we can improve. It's a great place to be, but means there's some technical debt.
We can't (yet) provide close mentorship for junior developers, especially as we're remote and small. As we grow, we'll get a lot better at this.
Since you'll have a lot of responsibility and creativity over projects, they may not be defined perfectly initially. You'll be expected to bring your own experience and perspective to help us do the right things, and raise flags if you think we should do things differently.
If we think you might be a good fit, we'll respond within 48 hours.
