# Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)\n\n## Simple Poll\n\nFull Time โ Remote\n\n\n# About Simple Poll\n\n- Simple Poll brings polls and surveys natively into Slack. Learn more about the product on [https://simplepoll.rocks](https://simplepoll.rocks)\n- Wilhelm created Simple Poll in early 2016 to improve his own workflow when working in Slack. Started as a side project and then grew up to be a real company!\n- Simple Poll is one of the most popular apps for Slack and over the course of a year serves millions of users. As a member of the engineering team, you will be able to directly impact the experience of all of those users.\n- We are a fairly early stage company with a small and growing team. We're profitable, bootstrapped (no external investment) and very much plan to stay that way!\n\nBecause weโre such a small team, you will be able to have a massive impact. Not just on Simple Poll the product and its millions of users but also on the company, our culture, and our day to day collaboration. \n\nFrom an engineering perspective Simple Poll can often feel similar to building an API. Slack apps work largely by receiving JSON payloads from Slack, making API calls to the Slack API, and then returning some JSON back to Slack. As such, our engineering work tends to be very backend-heavy and although we do have a web dashboard, writing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is more rare.\n\nIn our day to day work we face an interesting set of evolving engineering and product challenges:\n\n- One such challenge is dealing creatively with the constraints of the Slack platform. Since Simple Poll exists almost entirely within Slack, we are bound by many of the constraints and extension capabilities of the Slack platform, such as the block kit framework ([https://api.slack.com/block-kit](https://api.slack.com/block-kit)). A powerful set of tools is available to us, but the path to bringing a feature to life is sometimes not as straightforward as it seems.\n- We also constantly face trade offs between making Simple Poll more powerful (and implementing a long list of customer feature requests) while simultaneously maintaining and improving the simplicity that out customers love. Finding a good balance is important here and often we find that there is a way to achieve both capability and simplicity.\n- Slack is also constantly evolving and it is our responsibility to keep up with this evolution to ensure that Simple Poll works no matter what Slack context users find themselves in. Recent wide-reaching changes have been the introduction of Slack Enterprise Grid (multiple Slack workspace under the same umbrella) and Slack Connect (shared channels between different Slack workspaces). These changes make it more challenging to model Slack entities like users and channels โ if youโre curious to learn more about this problem, check out this blog post: [https://wilhelmklopp.com/posts/slack-database-modelling/](https://wilhelmklopp.com/posts/slack-database-modelling/)\n\n### Remote\n\nWe are remote-first with folks across Canada, the UK, and Germany ๐ ย We love and embrace remote working (and have done so even in pre-pandemic times). But especially as the pandemic winds down and more travel opens up, we plan to regularly get everyone together for a one-week company offsite, probably twice a year. Our last company offsite took us to Toronto in Canada ๐\n\n# The ideal candidate\n\n- Excellent verbal and written communication skills\n- A high degree of empathy\n- 3+ years of experience working on production web applications written primarily in Python\n- Experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS\n- You care about the product as well as the code\n- You enjoy picking up new skills and are always learning and growing\n- You have an ability to think critically and pragmatically about designing systems and building features\n- You enjoy shipping and getting things done\n\n# Responsibilities\n\n- Write, review, deploy, and maintain code in mostly Python (back end) and HTML/CSS/JavaScript (front end)\n- Collaborate with the rest of the team on defining and implementing new features and coordinate to prioritise engineering work\n- Debug production issues and implement corresponding fixes\n- Take ownership of parts of the codebase\n- Document the systems you help build, monitor, and maintain\n- Evaluate and recommend solutions to guide team decision making\n- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes\n- Rotating responsibilities for on-call\n\n## You Might Work On\n\n- Architecting and implementing new features. Some of the things coming up on our roadmap are blind polls, ranked polls, exports to google sheets, and many more!\n- UX Improvements to make Simple Poll *simpler* and more flexible\n- Performance improvements to make Simple Poll faster\n- Improving reliability, which could for example entail setting up a new Datadog dashboard\n- Work with a designer to build a new page in our frontend and then implement that page based on their design\n- Something completely different! As an early stage company, we tend to be pretty "all hands on deck" when something comes up that we need to get done\n- Use and provide feedback on [Kolo](https://kolo.app). A local Django development tool that weโve been building\n\n# Practicals and benefits\n\n- You will report directly to the CEO (Wilhelm)\n- This is a fully remote, full time (40 hours per week) position. Your primary timezone must be between UTC-5 and UTC+2 (inclusive on both ends) to ensure we have enough overlap as a team\n- We'll buy you a new MacBook Pro and any other tools you need to do your best work (screens, accessories, etc.)\n- 30 days of holiday a year (including local national holidays), and you're encouraged to take all of it. You're also free to take additional time off for any other reasonable reasons, for example if you're sick (of course!) but also if you need to spend an afternoon taking care of something personal.\n- Sustainable and healthy working matters to us. We care about building delightful products for our customers, not hitting arbitrary daily hour counts.\n- The start date for this role is January or February 2022\n\n## Our principles\n\n*Inspired (often straight up copied) by the [Zen of GitHub](https://warpspire.com/posts/taste) and the [Zen of Python](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zen_of_Python)*\n\nExplicit is better than implicit\n\nSimple is better than complex\n\nFavor focus over features\n\nAnything added dilutes everything else\n\nMind your words, they are important\n\nCraft the details, they matter\n\nShip early and often\n\nNever miss an opportunity to delight\n\nBuild for the long term\n\nUse what you build with pride\n\nCreate lasting value for customers\n\nMistakes are possible when moving fast\n\nEmpower with courtesy and empathy\n\n## Our tech stack\n\n- Python + Django\n- PostgresQL\n- Heroku\n- Amazon Web Services\n- GitHub\n- HTML, Tailwind CSS, Vanilla JavaScript\n- Slack, Datadog, Zoom, Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion\n- Our own products! This role offers a lot of growth and youโll be able to have a big impact on many parts of the company.\n\n# Who We Are\n\n[BlueRithm](https://bluerithm.com/) is made up of a small team of US-based engineers with domain and development expertise. Since 2016, weโve built and shipped a project-management platform for specialized niches in the construction, manufacturing, and energy industries.\n\nWeโre backed by TinySeed and a deep bench of experienced business owners, founders, and high-caliber people who believe in our approach and mission.\n\n# What is it like working with us?\n\nEven though weโre small and agile, we work hard and strive for success. We do it humbly and never at the expense of whatโs right and ethical. We value diversity in backgrounds and thought, and believe leaving our egos at the door, supporting each other, and working towards common goals is a recipe for success.\n\n**Remote Work**\nMost of us work remotely around the U.S. We communicate and collaborate on Microsoft Teams. Most of our work takes place during normal U.S. business hours. The founders are in Minneapolis so there are opportunities to come co-work in the office space located there.\n\n**Sane Hours**\nWeโre adults and we trust each other to manage our time responsibly. We look at what you accomplish, not how long you are in front of a computer. We work hard and smart. Sure, we need to drive the business hard and release features, but weโre most concerned with long-term success.\n\n# The Role\n\nThis โSenior Software Engineerโ role has been created to help out one of the founders and take over a lot of his development work.\n\nYou will bring the product vision to life. Youโll help develop and prioritize the product roadmap, contributing your creative vision and technical expertise to give our customers a first-class product that solves real problems.\n\nYouโll be doing full-stack development on our ASP.NET MVC web app, RESTful API, and Xamarin mobile app. Some features span the whole platform, while some are specific to one part (for example, just the web app). Youโll be building many new features and supporting existing ones. Occasionally youโll join customer calls to stay engaged with our customers and understand, in their words, what they need.\n\nAs the company continues growing, youโll also have the opportunity to grow your role in scope and responsibility. That could mean helping mentor and develop a more junior developer in the future.\n\nThis is a full-time role that can be fully remote. Ideally, you are located in the United States, but we are open to other locations as well.\n\nWe are an established company with a strong product, but sometimes we operate as an early startup. Not all of our SOPs are ironed out and thereโs no big employee handbook. This role is for someone who is OK with ambiguity, loves to solve problems, and can work through issues. This also presents the opportunity for lots of growth and to have an impact across many parts of the company.\n\n**Day to Day**\n\n~80% of your time will be spent coding and working on our product. The rest of the time will be working on the product roadmap, brainstorming issues, and problem-solving, and continuous deployment.\n\n# Who Weโre Looking For\n\nIdeally, weโd like to have someone who has strong experience with web app development and is also very comfortable in a startup, entrepreneurial environment.\n\n**Personality and Type of Person Weโre Looking For:**\n\n* Someone who gets a thrill and satisfaction from building real features that people need and use.\n* The desire to have creative, visionary, as well as technical influence over product direction.\n* Understanding of the importance of urgency of work and creating results, but has a big-picture, long term mindset.\n* A self-improvement spirit.\n* Someone who enjoys solving difficult problems.\n* Passion for the work\n* A data-driven attitude\n* Perseverance\n* Adaptability\n* Self-reliance\n* Comfort with risk-taking and ambiguity that comes with working for a small company.\n\n**Your Experience and Skillset:**\n\n* Expertise with ASP.NET MVC web applications\n* Expertise with HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, other common web development technologies.\n* Expertise with full .NET framework as well as .NET Core.\n* Expertise in developing Web APIs.\n* Experience with various databases relational and document-based (Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Mongo DB, MySQL, etc..).\n* Experience developing enterprise solutions with Microsoft Azure.\n* Experience utilizing Azure and Azure DevOps automation in the context of automating infrastructure deployments.\n* Experience developing applications with Azure DevOps (Repositories, Build and Deploy Pipelines).\n* Experienced in design and UX principles. Prioritizes exceptional user experience in engineering and execution.\n\n# Bonus points\n\n* Experience developing mobile applications with Xamarin (cross-platform: iOS, Android, UWP).\n\n# Compensation and Benefits\n\n**Salary Range**\n$130-160k per Year\n\n**Stock Options**\nBlueRithm offers stock options in addition to salary and benefits. This vested interest in the company is something that would be discussed with the founders.\n\n**Insurance Coverage**\nFor our U.S. employees, we offer health insurance.\n\n**401k Plan**\nEmployees are eligible for a 401k plan thatโs integrated into our payroll system. Plans are employee-funded.\n\n**Equipment Budget**\nHome office budget available to help you do your best work\n\n**Time Off / Vacation**\nTaking time off makes you happier, healthier, and more productive. We want you to take the time you need to rejuvenate, reflect, and take care of your and your familyโs health. Thatโs why we have a 30 day off vacation policy. Weโre not going to micromanage your day-to-day work when youโre taking off early or starting late, or just need a day to handle personal business. Results are what matter.\n\n**Parental Leave**\nAll parents who welcome a new child by birth, surrogacy, foster, or adoption are eligible to take 8 weeks of paid leave.\n\n**Remote and Flexible Hours**\nThis is a full-time role that can be fully remote. Ideally, you are located in the United States, but we are open to other locations as well. We donโt micromanage your time at the desk. We are focused on results. \nWe looking for a developer who feel comfortable working full-stack, but we also want candidates who can excel in particular aspects of the work - an interest in game or UX design would be a real plus. Most importantly, we need you to be a top-class coder.\n\nWordwall.net makes it easy for teachers to create interactive games and printed worksheets for their students. It automates the process of resource design, so teachers can simply enter the content that is appropriate for their class – a list of keywords, definitions, questions or images. Wordwall produces the content in over 60 different templates; for example, gameshow quizzes, crosswords, labelled diagrams and arcade games. It seeks to disrupt the publisher-driven model of paid-for “professionally” made educational content, by putting high-quality content creation in the hands of teachers and making that teacher-made content, freely accessible through our online community.\n\nWe are a small team with big ambitions, who work remotely across the world. Our 15 million monthly users are rapidly proliferating. We’ve got a product that works and we’re building for the long-term. We want people who want to stick around, grow with us and help make games-based learning accessible to all.\n\nTechnologies we use: HTML5, CSS, Javascript, Canvas API, WebAudio API, C#, ASP.NET MVC, MS-SQL, Azure, Selenium, TeamCity CD\n\nWe are an equal opportunities employer. We support flexible working arrangements - full or part time.\n\nApplication by CV. Tell us which aspect of the site interests you and where you think you could contribute the most.\n\nReal applicants only - please do not contact us if you represent an agency. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

\nHello!\n\nThanks for taking a look at the job description for the Senior Fullstack at Impala. We felt a little bit impersonal just throwing you right in there with words like “revolutionizing” and “disrupting”.\n\nAs such, we want you to know that the person that wrote this job description apologises in advance for any clichés, tropes or sudden-insecurity-driven-panic-attacks that you might find in the description below.\n\nWhat is Impala now?\n\nImpala makes building travel software incredibly easy. We provide hotels with a powerful data management platform that makes connecting to software, hardware and room distributors extremely easy. Think Twilio for Travel.\n\nWe launched in January 2019 and since then have grown at - quite frankly - a ridiculous old clip. Our technology is already installed in hundreds of hotels worldwide, on six continents and categorises more than 1 billion data points.\n\nWe are a growing team of exceptional people split across engineering, product and commercial that have built a fantastic community.\n\nWhere is Impala going?\n\nWe’re supported by some of the best investors in the business, the early stage backers behind Deliveroo, PillPack, SecretEscapes, Zoopla, Trivago and more. They’re on board because of our vision - revolutionizing a $1.6 trillion dollar market that’s been out-of-date for 20 years.\n\nWithin the next two years, 25% of hotel bookings worldwide will flow through Impala technology and the product that we’re building will support the entire ecosystem of travel technology (we already have over a thousand companies signed up).\n\nAnyone travelling anywhere will interact with products powered by Impala and to achieve this we’re growing the team to 50 people within the next year. So now is the most exciting time to be joining Impala as we go through a large push to scale up!\n\nA brief overview of what you will be doing here:\n\n\n* Work across our agile teams as a frontend engineering resource before becoming a dedicated member of one of the teams.\n\n* You’ll add features to our existing UIs and also create new UI products that allow our technology partners and their hotels to better manage their applications and data.\n\n* Improve the security features across all of our frontend products.\n\n* You’ll add functionality to our internal tools that allow our support team to better service customers.\n\n* You’ll analyze and optimise (be that UX, performance, security) new and existing features to continually improve our products.\n\n\n\n\nYou should join us if:\n\n\n* You have significant React experience and good knowledge of JS fundamentals\n\n* You feel comfortable working closely with product owners, designers, UX experts and the ability to translate their designs/requirements into maintainable, componentised UIs.\n\n* You are extremely collaborative, Impala’s engineering team is not political, everyone has great ideas and should be open to input. We have no space for brilliant jerks.\n\n* You are passionate about customer experience and building high quality maintainable software that looks and works fantastically.\n\n\n\n\nWhere will you work?\n\nThis is a remote position (all of our engineering team and some of our other staff members are distributed). This means you can work from anywhere +/- 2 Hours of London, timezone wise (and less than a 3 hour flight). As part of that:\n\n\n* We offer an office stipend (you can furnish a home office or choose a coworking space near you).\n\n* We give you an additional significant start-up equipment budget for things like monitors, keyboards, headphones etc.\n\n* You’ll travel once a quarter to meet the rest of the engineering team somewhere in Europe.\n\n* You’ll have a budget to travel to team socials if you’d like to meet everyone in person more frequently.\n\n\n\n\nPlease note, we only accept candidates in Western Europe because of timezone and travel time differences. We make no exceptions (we don’t have time to!).\n\nWhat you will get in return? \n\n\n* We’re in the top 14% of companies in the UK for holiday that we offer, at 36 days.\n\n* We also offer Impalans one Unsick day per year.\n\n* Impala believes that great people should be able to focus on developing mastery of their skills, even if they don’t want to manage people. Here you’ll be able to access 3.5x the average annual raise, even staying in the same role.\n\n* We invest in your development and will support you to realise your potential with our generous Professional Development budget.\n\n* We offer all engineers a Weekly Recess Hour. This is an hour to take off and step out from work and invest in You Time! Lawn mow, yoga, walk or movie anyone?\n\n* We offer an extended lunch break option, meaning you can take an extra hour lunch break, and we trust you to make up for it later in the day.\n\n* We offer a stipend to set up your ideal place of work. You can choose between the option of £150 per month to build out your home office, or we’ll pay for your membership at a coworking space near you up to £350.\n\n* In addition, we give you a special Personalised Workspace Equipment budget for things like monitors, keyboards, headphones or desk chairs.\n\n* You’ll travel once a quarter to meet the rest of the team in an engineer colocation week, somewhere in Europe.\n\n* You’ll have a Social Budget to travel to/from & stay in London for a night, for our monthly Impala Social.\n\n* You’ll have a generous Friend & Family Budget, to get your close friends and family over once a year.\n\n* We’ll organise socials around your area with other remote workers.\n\n* We have a Health & Wellbeing scheme in place, offering you the option of a monthly gym membership reimbursement each month, or a health food voucher each month; access to Headspace; Vitality health insurance (UK only); plus the chance to win a massage monthly. Plus loads more.\n\n* Perkbox. A platform designed to help you to live a better life by personalising, managing, delivering and measuring the best company perks in real-time. \n\n* You’ll be working somewhere that encourages collaboration, is transparent, has a strong focus on wellbeing, and doesn’t just pay lip service to it’s Core Values.\n\n\n\n\nFor more information about what it's like working here, check out our Glassdoor page.\n\nSound interesting? \n\nIf your answer is yes and you are really excited to learn more then please check out our Medium page which includes more information about who we are, what we do, what matters to us, and our culture.\n\nWant to know more about our CEO, or want a deeper understanding of our what and why? The Senior Full Stack Engineer position is vital to the success of our company, partnering with all departments to align technology strategy with the companyโs objectives.\n\nOur small and close knit engineering team currently consists of a UX specialist, 2 frontend engineers, one backend engineer, one WordPress engineer and several QA specialists. Youโll work closely with the team to implement solutions for all departments within Empire Flippers, be it compliance, customer support, sales and migrations. Additional responsibilities could lead to supervising our engineering team.\n\n# Responsibilities\n
Youโll be responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment building high quality, architecturally sound systems. You will use your initiative to design and implement client-side and server-side architecture, as well as implement APIโs and integrations that address our business needs. Both our clients and staff will be using the software you write and youโll be responsible for monitoring system performance and configuring new software and hardware. \n\n# Requirements\nWe believe in hiring people that are a good fit for us culturally.\n\nA good fit is actually more important to us than the skill set since we will teach you everything you need to know about our industry.\n\nYou must have a passion for travel, ideally with long periods of digital nomad experience with travel outside your home country.\n\nYou should have at least 5 good years of full stack experience under your belt, having implemented some complex, data driven applications. Your portfolio speaks louder than your words.\nYou should have team-lead or management experience with a remote team.\nAn in-depth understanding of database management systems, both relational and non-relational databases.\nHands on experience in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis is necessary.\nYou should have an ability to conduct technological analyses and research, with a solid understanding of technological trends to build strategy.\nYou should be a ninja with every component of our tech stack. You must have a complete working knowledge of Ruby on Rails, SQL, Postgres, Sidekiq, Rspec, Git, Redis.\nExperience working with a wide range of 3rd party integrations. Our platform talks to many 3rd party applications, you should have experience building and maintaining such integrations in a test driven fashion.\nDev-ops/sysadmin skills, particularly AWS. Experience with managing servers, maintaining hosting environments, being responsible for uptime and responsiveness, addressing bottlenecks, ensuring backups are kept safe and sound.\nYou need to have immaculate attention to detail. We need to hear you grunting and moaning if something doesnโt quite look or feel right, to the nearest code change and to the nearest hexadecimal color, to the point you become annoying to us. At times other developers may edit your code, youโll be watching to ensure the code base remains readable, scalable and fast.\nBe a good communicator. It sounds very clichรฉ, but youโll immerse yourself in almost every department, youโll be learning problems and presenting solutions, and also overseeing the implementation of those solutions too.\nA self-starter. We need to see some evidence that youโre able to get up every morning, bite the bullet and just get on with it, even if youโve tried four coffee shops and none have decent wifi. You wonโt have eyes looking over your shoulder on a day to day basis, youโll be working in almost full autonomy, weโll need to trust you to deliver the goods. We donโt believe in micro-management.\nA complete working knowledge in React. Our client code is written in React. Being able to navigate the front-end code and patch things up is needed.\nThe following skills/experience would be a bonus, but not required:\n\nPHP/WordPress. We will be interfacing with WordPress significantly, being able to speak the same language would be great.\n\nDatabases. A comprehensive experience working with various types of SQL and noSQL databases would be very useful. MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, Cassandra, to name a few.\n\nCaching. The software weโre building needs to be fast and to remain fast as we scale, both in terms of traffic and database size. Having experience with Memcached, Varnish or experience with complicated CDN setups with many rules would be a plus. \n\nPlease mention the words **BLESS CHOICE HOOD** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMTguOTcuOS4xNzE=). \nAbout this job\n\nJob type:Full-time Experience level:Mid-Level, Senior, Lead Role:Frontend Developer\n\nRemote details\n\nEmployer's note:We're looking for someone in the DC to Richmond, VA area-ish; however, we could live with the NE corridor-ish. More in the posting.\n\nTechnologies\n\nangularjs ruby vue.js react angular\n\nJob description\n\nAre you a versatile developer (frontend and backend) with a touch of UX designer who is obsessive about creating thoughtful software that improves someone’s day? If so, we’d love to chat with you about adding some firepower to our senior product team -- a team who is actively helping women’s health providers spend more quality time with patients by fundamentally re-imagining their daily digital workflows. \n\n*** \nUpdate on 'Location' : So, while we do have the 'remote' flag on, we're *ideally* looking for someone in the Richmond, VA area-ish (think: 2 hour train ride, so DC to Raleigh to Charlottesville); however, we could live with the NE corridor-ish (think: <2 hour flight; our VP Engineering is near Boston), too. Our CEO works in an office in Arlington, VA, if you want to keep him company. Or, put another way: are you available to be in the Richmond, VA virtual office once every month-ish? Yeah, That'd be greaaaaaat... Don't forget the cover page on those TPS reports either.\n****\n\nIdeally you are as eager and passionate as we are about:\n\n\n* Crafting thoughtful user experiences that help people (in our case doctors, nurses, and medical assistants) make the best decisions possible while removing tedious BS from their daily workflow.\n\n\n\n* reducing the large amount of time that clinicians spend on documenting what they have already done (go ahead -- ask your doctor about how much they like their EHR (electronic health record) next time you’re sick)\n\n\n\n* re-imagining not only the traditional user experiences & workflow of EHRs, but also the medium through which the latest medical best practices can be actionably and seamlessly incorporated into delivering care.\n\n\n\n\nOK, you may not be super-passionate about these things right now (let’s face it -- medical workflows and “EHRs” sound pretty boring on paper), but you will be. Why? Because you’ll be building software that fixes INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING experiences for doctors. And it’s incredibly satisfying to modernize, replace & improve outdated, problematic software. It’s important. And you’ll be loved/adored for it. (And once you see the way this stuff is currently done, you’ll be left scratching your head or otherwise disappointed)\n\nA little about us...\n\nWe’re a small-but-mighty with funding and a strategic partnership with the most influential voice in women’s health: the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG).\n\nOur mission is to remove the digital roadblocks that interfere with healthcare providers’ ability to spend quality time with patients (Oh, and we try to help them make better decisions along the way as well).\n\n...A Lot About You\n\nIdeally, you are a multitalented wunderkind who runs circles around each of the below bullet points, but let’s be real: while some of these are must-have, many are wish-list. We may have gotten a bit carried away with these, so if feel your unique combination of skills is close-ish to the mark, don’t hesitate to reach out. In fact, do so enthusiastically.\n\n\n* ...you’re a software craftsperson with a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality -- there’s a lot of thoughtful, nuanced, nitty gritty work to get done.\n\n\n\n\n\n* … you have “X years of experience” Pshaw. We aren’t big on formal requirements in the credentials department; rather, we want to see what you’ve worked on. Show us a project you’re proud of that you shipped and we’ll start the conversation from there. But let’s not kid ourselves -- you should absolutely come without training wheels.\n\n\n\n\n\n* ... you are comfortable shifting gears between front-end Javascript and back-end Ruby-on-Rails when you need to… We have some folks who are stronger on the front end and some folks who are stronger on the back end. Our ideal is someone who has excellent design sensibilities and a firm grasp of HTML5 / CSS / SASS, ui toolkits like bootstrap, but also can talk about and implement good APIs to talk to the front end and also write code to connect to other APIs from our backend. \n\n\n\n\n\n* … you’re pretty opinionated about your design choices and can easily articulate/defend your design decisions/rationale when asked “Why did you <insert observation that challenges your design choice>?”\n\n\n\n\n\n* … you have solid AngularJS front-end development chops. But, because you love javascript frameworks in general, you’ve played around with -- and probably are opinionated about -- other frameworks like Angular(7), React, and Vue.js.\n\n\n\n* ... you have solid Ruby on Rails development jobs., Or, because you love software development in general, you're not worried about picking it up because you have other back-end experience that translates.\n\n\n\n\n\n* ...you should be able to design, architect & implement solutions that reflect your particular problem-solving approach (...and you’ll probably be solving a problem that was based on a story that you yourself were instrumental in either eliciting or refining).\n\n\n\n* … you’re a natural Design Thinker. Therefore, you’re good at leveraging your empathy to investigate both known and ambiguous aspects of a complex, convoluted story (lots of these in healthcare!) in order to discover hidden parameters and open alternative paths which may lead to the real story. \n\n\n\n\n\n* … you have an admirable understanding of the principles behind a good* RESTful API design. (*But also know enough to not let perfect get in the way of the good)\n\n\n\n* … you’re comfortable/knowledgeable with git. CI experience a bonus, but not required.\n\n\n\n* … you’ve worked at startups before or have always been looking for an excuse to.\n\n\n\n* … you work well in a loosely structured PM/Managerial environment (we’re agile with a “little a”)\n\n\n\n\nUs + You?\n\nAs the newest member our product team, you’ll be an integral part of every aspect of our business strategy, dev roadmap, technology architecture decisions, and, undoubtedly, will wear a lot of hats. \n\nOnes of these hats -- in addition to your techie/design hats -- will almost certainly be the Customer Hat. At Dorsata, we are fervent (rabidly obsessive, really) believers in frequent, high-touch interactions with our involved, loyal customer base, who drives our roadmap. As we've grown, developers are often removed from the day-to-day, but you should be the type of person who is able to empathize and ask good questions of customers.\n\nObligatory message: If you're a third-party recruiter who is looking to send us resumes, please don't. We don't accept resumes from third-party recruiters. No, we're not interested in how Yet Another Recruiting company can help us make the world a better place, etc.; we already know good people who do that when we need to. (We're amazed at the number of random LinkedIn messages from recruiters we see, both on the hiring and job seeking side. Yes, you're great human beings, but please move along.)\n\nAbout Dorsata\n\nDorsata’s clinical workflow intelligence platform is designed to work both top of and inside of the existing electronic health records (EHRs) that our customers use. The ACOG Prenatal Record -- our flagship product for the Dorsata platform -- is an AngularJS/Rails SPA designed collaboratively with women’s health providers to support the way that they work & think -- not tell them how to work & think (or add additional clerical burdens to their already-busy day). We want practitioners of women’s health to feel like they are using a piece of software not only designed for them, but by them. \n\nMore About Us :\n\nHow We Interview & Hire\n\nLike many of the other startups you are currently perusing on stackoverflow/angellist/hired/vettery/reddit/linkedIn/etc., our interview process begins with an intro call to help you learn more about the role, for us to hear more about you, and to help the two of us decide if Dorsata is a mutual fit. If we move forward, the next step will be a more in depth call with us that dives into some problem solving about healthcare. Based on that problem solving exercise, we do a quick real-world based coding test to make sure you actually do know AngularJS (or React or Vue or AngularX) / what a computer is.\n\nWe're small, so we also like to have people talk to our CEO.\n\nBenefits / Perks / Comp\n\n\n* Health Insurance / Dental\n\n* Market salary + equity participation opportunity\n\n* We are remote first, though we do have some space in Arlington, VA. If you like, go for an occasional stints in Antarctica, though we operate on the East Coast timezone and get together every 6 weeks in person. Also, Antartica is cold.\n\n* Fun, friendly & delightfully BS-free work environment\n\n\n\n\nJoel Test\n\nSource control One-step build Daily builds Bug database Bugs fixed before writing new code Up-to-date schedule Specs Quiet working conditions Best tools that money can buy Testers Code screening Hallway usability testing \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
