Side is hiring a
Remote Lead Software Engineer Transaction Management

\nAt Side, we believe everyone should own their path. \n\n\nSide is a real estate startup that pioneered the concept of brokerage-as-a-service to help top real estate professionals create and run their own companies without having to operate a brokerage. Our proprietary platform makes the real estate transaction process far more efficient for both agents and home buyers/sellers.  \n\n\nBefore Side, exceptional real estate agents had two choices: You could join an antiquated traditional brokerage, relinquish control of your business, and pay hefty fees for marginal value. Or you could start your own independent brokerage, massively increase your liability, and take on the burden of running your own back office. We created a third option: Own your own business and run it on the Side platform. Agents get to focus on what they do best โ€” selling real estate โ€” while Side operates in the background to facilitate their transactions, and help them grow. \n\n\nSide is led by experienced industry professionals and world-class engineers who develop technology designed to improve agent productivity and enhance the client experience. The company is backed by over $300 million in funding from top-tier venture capital firms, including Coatue, Tiger, D1, Sapphire, Trinity, and Matrix.. Headquartered in San Francisco, Side currently operates in 16 states, with plans to expand nationwide in the coming years. We were named Company of the Year by Inman News (the leading industry publication) and a Most Innovative Company of 2022 by Fast Company.\n\n\nAbout the Team\nThe Engineering organization at Side is about 45 engineers and 6 teams. We appreciate diversity of thought and backgrounds. The Transaction Management Engineering team is responsible for building the features of our main product offering. \n\n\nAbout the Role\nAs a member of the Transaction Management Engineering team, you will work closely with product and design to deliver medium to large projects and features to our React/Next.js applications. You will work with and help mentor other engineers, architect solutions to problems, and communicate with leadership about the needs of the team.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat you'll be doing\n* Deep collaboration with Product Management to turn user stories into a technical plan that can be executed by multiple people\n* Informing product direction by communicating engineering constraints and objectives to the Product Team\n* Evaluating and articulating end-to-end designs for strengths and weaknesses (e.g., complexity, quality, scalability, latency, security, performance, data integrity, etc)\n* Identifying tech debt and making recommendations of reduction\n* Upholding application performance and security best practices within the team\n* Writing full suite of automated tests to ensure production stability (unit, integration, e2e) \n* Writing code for medium to large features independently\n* Leading code reviews, providing constructive feedback\n* Mentoring junior engineers on the Engineering team\n\n\n\nWhat would make you a strong fit for the role\n* We are looking for someone with 8+ years of experience building front-end applications in production environments. You should be able to write clean, documented, and well-tested code.\n* You are an expert with JavaScript and have experience with Typescript.\n* Ideally you have worked with React or Next.js in a few of your most recent projects. You should be very comfortable with React and should know the standard methodologies and patterns, hooks, and suspense.\n* You should also have experience with testing. At Side, we use Jest for unit tests and Cypress for End-to-end tests. You should have experience writing meaningful tests with both frameworks.\n* On top of being a great front-end engineer, you have experience mentoring junior engineers who need help and guidance.\n* You should be capable of determining when best to delegate vs own the work yourself\n* It would be a plus if you have experience with GraphQL, security best practices, or accessibility.\n* You should have extensive experience with Git & Github and providing strong code reviews.\n* Experience with Jira\n* High EQ, able to respond effectively to peopleโ€™s needs\n* Experience with open-source is a plus\n\n\n\n\n$180,000 - $200,000 a yearSide takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. This range is not inclusive of our equity package. When determining a candidateโ€™s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.\n\nSide is dedicated to working with the highest skilled people from the most inclusive talent pool feasible. We maintain that diversity in all aspects leads to positive change, solutions and innovation for our customers and career fulfillment for our employees. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply!\n\n\nSide uses the E-Verify employment verification program.\n\n\nOur stewardship of the data of many of our customers means that a background and DRE license check is required to join Side. By building on the sophisticated cross-chain infrastructure of LI.FI, we offer a comprehensive multi-chain experience for any and every person in crypto to move and use their funds across chains as easily and flexibly as they desire.\n\n\nOur vision? We want to make multi-chain DeFi easy and fun!\n\n\nWhile we live under LI.FIโ€™s umbrella, we pride ourselves in our small but excellent and very agile team. Jumper already has over 100k active users, and still we are only now getting started to build it from the ground up. As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer you would be at the core of this new adventure - completely owning the realization of Jumperโ€™s underlying infrastructure and bringing new ideas to life!\n\n\n \n\n\nA quick run-down of the job\n\n\nWe are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer who will lead the design, development, and maintenance of our scalable and secure backend infrastructure. This includes the establishment of a completely new backend and a scalable infrastructure for Jumper. Additionally, you will be very hands-on in our frontend and the LI.FI widget integration in order to quickly ship new features. In this role, you are expected to split your work between frontend and backend. In order to move quickly, the emphasis initially will likely be on frontend work during the first few months, with a gradual shift towards backend responsibility over the near-term.\n\n\n \n\n\nWe are a small team, and every one of our engineers is expected to strongly contribute to Jumperโ€™s success by coming up with independent ideas and solutions to complex challenges. The current team includes: a Senior Full-Stack, a Junior Frontend Engineer, a Product Designer, a Technical Product Manager and a Business Lead. In addition, one more Full-Stack Engineer will be added to the team soon. In the near future, we would also love to see one of the Sr. Engineers to evolve into an engineering lead position for our small team.\n\n\n \n\n\nOur current stack:\n\n\n\n * Node.js running TypeScript code in Docker containers\n\n * NextJS and React.js\n\n * MongoDB and Redis\n\n * Github, Kubernetes, AWS and CloudFlare for our GitOps CD chain\n\n * Ether.js and Wagmi\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nPlease note: You must be located in the EMEA region. Your application will not be considered if you're outside EMEA.\n\n\n \n\n\nWhat youโ€™ll do\n\n\n\n * Architecting and implementing scalable and robust infrastructure solutions that can handle growing user loads and evolving business needs (we are already used by over 100k monthly active users).\n\n * Developing and maintaining comprehensive test suites, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests, to ensure the reliability of backend systems.\n\n * Design and develop high quality frontend applications that are testable and maintainable.\n\n * Be responsible for development of prototypes, new frontend features and React components.\n\n * Leading the design, development, and maintenance of a newly developed Jumper backend system and APIs.\n\n * Collaborate closely with the Software Engineers, Product Manager and Designers within your team.\n\n * Review the work of your teammates and support them in their growth through guidance and mentorship where needed.\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nWhat makes a good candidate\n\n\n\n * Must be located in the EMEA region.\n\n * Effective communication skills (in English) with the ability to build relationships and work in a small but excellent team while self-guided on a day-to-day basis.\n\n * Extensive professional experience in a similar role (as senior or lead).\n\n * Experience in UX/UI development.\n\n * Experience in software design and architecture.\n\n * Knowledge of testing frameworks and principles.\n\n * Passion for new technologies and ability to autonomously evaluate them and make suggestions for improvement.\n\n * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science is a plus.\n\n * Previous working experience in the blockchain space or related technical understanding is a plus (especially with Wagmi).\n\n\n\n\n\nWe encourage you to apply if you feel your experience and skills equip you for this job but are not listed here!\n\n\n \n\n\nCompany culture\n\n\n\n * \nEmpowered teams: We take the best person with the right skills, and then inspire them to use them! We trust our team and give them the space and ownership to excel and achieve.\n\n * \nFlexible time management: We believe work should adapt to your life, not the other way around. We only schedule a few fixed meetings every week โ€“ you're free to arrange the rest of your time as you like.\n\n * \nInclusive culture: Itโ€™s our priority to make our whole team feel included, appreciated and respected. Our global, culturally diverse team is our most important asset.\n\n * \nRemote-friendly: Weโ€™re a fully remote, global company. As long as youโ€™re not on Mars (the WiFi is terrible we heard), being part of our team from the comfort of your own home works perfectly well for us.\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nWhat youโ€™ll get\n\n\n\n * Entitlement to a work computer (choice of equipment).\n\n * Unlimited remote days and flexible working hours.\n\n * Annual team off-sites (Thailand was a blast last year & Vietnam will be even blast-ier).\n\n * An annual 1000โ‚ฌ personal development budget once you have worked 6+ months (pro-rated the first year).\n\n * A one-time 1000โ‚ฌ remote budget to use on co-working, office setup, etc.\n\n * Initial equity allocations once you have worked 6+ months.\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nCompensation & Package\n\n\nBase package + equity \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Design, Crypto, React, Docker, Testing, Typescript, Senior, Engineer and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $110,000/year\n

Company Description\n\nOur team has experience building products at companies like Facebook, Twitter and Yelp. We've spent the past couple years building applications and infrastructure for consumers and developers on Ethereum, with a focus on Decentralized Finance (DeFi). Matcha and 0x API are just some of the crypto products we've brought to market.\n\nWhile trying to build products with delightful user experiences on Ethereum and other blockchains, we experienced first-hand what a pivotal role crypto wallets have in a project's ability to succeed and attract users.\n\nWe've also seen how existing wallet solutions can hold projects back, and keep users from experiencing DeFi, NFTs and web3 in the way they can and should be experienced.\n\nOur goal is to make it easy for anyone to engage with the expanding ecosystem of crypto projects (across blockchains), and to enable those projects to deliver the experiences their users deserve.\nRole Description\n\nOur crypto wallet is used by millions of people to access apps and financial services built on the Solana blockchain.\n\nWe are looking for someone with a deep experience with both Typescript and building desktop/mobile products. This person will be focused on helping lead feature development in our React/React Native codebase.\n\nIn this role, youโ€™ll be working on web3 technologies, working to keep peopleโ€™s funds safe and secure, and collaborating with security, design and QA to create a way for users to safely manage their seed phrase and other types of accounts.\n\nJoin us on our mission to make the digital economy safe and easy to use for everyone.\n\nThis role is fully remote; however, weโ€™re only open to candidates based in US and EU time zones. Currently, Phantom cannot support employees from the following countries and continents: Russia, Pakistan, Ukraine, Asia, Oceania, and Africa.\nResponsibilities\n\nAs a Security focused Frontend Engineer at Phantom, you will be at the forefront of creating innovative solutions for our users. Your primary role will be developing, implementing, and maintaining the Phantom Authentication & Seedless Recovery systems.\n\nYour responsibilities will include:\n\n\n* Collaborating with the design and product teams to design and develop secure, resilient, and user-friendly features.\n\n* Working closely with our security team to ensure the applications comply with the highest security standards.\n\n* Participating in code reviews to maintain high-quality code\n\n* Building and maintaining a robust seedless recovery process\n\n* Keeping up-to-date with the latest security best practices and integrating them into our systems\n\n\n\n\nThe ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of frontend development, with a particular focus on security. Proficiency in Typescript, and React is a must. Previous experience in a security-focused role would be an advantage. The candidate should also have excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.\nRequirements\n\n\n* At least 5 years of experience in software engineering\n\n* Expertise in React/React Native, and advanced knowledge of cryptography\n\n* Ability to build modern React frontends, transforming Figma designs into functional components\n\n* Relevant knowledge of modern web and mobile app security landscape, authentication, real-world attacks and mitigations.\n\n* Proficiency in CSS\n\n* Ability to ship code using test-driven development\n\n* Familiarity with version control systems such as Git\n\n* Awareness of engineering best practices\n\n* Problem-solving skills, an analytical mindset and good judgment\n\n* Self-starter with a desire to expand knowledge and skills\n\n\n\nBonus Points\n\n\n* Blockchain expertise\n\n* mobile development iOS/Android using React native\n\n* Previous experience working with Application Security Engineering teams.\n\n* Youโ€™re a Phantom user!\n\n\n\n\nThe target base salary for this role will range between $180,000 to $230,000 with the addition of equity and benefits.
