You are excited to learn, grow and collaborate so we can achieve our mission of creating opportunity for all through mobility.\n\nAt HopSkipDrive, we know that challenges require different approaches, unique perspectives and new ways of thinking. We are building a team of creative problem-solvers from many different backgrounds.\n\nYour role:\n\nA Rails Engineer III will enter this level capable of taking well-defined tasks and completing them in a way that is considered by the team to be high-quality with supervision from more senior team members. The progress through this level is focused on taking tasks of increasing complexity, scope and importance and completing them with very high quality with a lessening need for manager/tech lead oversight.\n\nThis level is the bread-and-butter level of engineering growth. Engineers at this level should be focused on becoming great engineers, learning how to set high quality bars for their work without sacrificing productivity. When given a task with unclear requirements they know how to ask for clarification, and ensure that all assumptions are vetted before work starts to reduce the need for re-work. They understand how their work fits into the larger picture for their team, and use this to identify conflicting requirements to their tech lead and product manager. An important focus of this level is developing empathy for the users of their software, whether they be internal employees, customers, or other developers on the team. A team member at this level is seeking out the context they need to understand the why of a particular feature and nurturing this empathy via that understanding.\n\nAbove all, they want to build something that fundamentally improves the lives of families.\n\nWhat you will do:\n\n\n* Communicate well with all members of the team\n\n* Perform well-defined engineering tasks; doesnโt get caught up in the unknown, works to figure it out, asks questions\n\n* Alert manager/team to any issues preventing their work from being accomplished, asks for help\n\n* Actively pursue improving engineering skills, including but not limited to problem solving, writing readable/testable/efficient code, mastering technology in our stack, and learning to anticipate scaling issues.\n\n* Seek to tie stories back to user value and impact for our drivers and organizers\n\n* Contribute meaningfully to the definition of stories\n\n* Pick up any story and suggest a solution for completing it\n\n* Lean into challenges when they offer the potential to create large impact, and does so with productivity and positivity\n\n* Be able to dive in to an area of the code/product that youโre not familiar with and make changes\n\n* Make sure your code is readable & easy to maintain\n\n* Make sure your code is tested appropriately\n\n* Review other engineersโ code and provide constructive feedback\n\n* Monitor changes in production and rollback if necessary\n\n* Have production access and use it responsibly\n\n\n\n\nWhat you'll need:\n\n\n* 2+ years experience with Ruby on Rails\n\n* 3+ years of professional software engineering\n\n* Solid experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL\n\n* A thirst for knowledge and continuous learning\n\n* Experience working on a team in a professional setting\n\n* Demonstrated ability to collaborate well with a team\n\n* Demonstrated ability to learn from mistakes\n\n* Demonstrated ability to unblock themselves, asks for help where necessary\n\n* Demonstrated good communication skills with teammates and showed a good degree of emotional and professional maturity.\n\n* A connection to HopSkipDriveโs mission and values\n\n\n\n\n** This role will be fully remote from a state where we do business AZ, CA, CO, FL, IL, KS, MD, WI, OK, UT, TN, NC, SC, NV, NM, NJ, NY, OR, TX, VA, WA, MO, MI**\n\nWhat you will get\n\nWe want you to be an owner in our company and share in executing our vision, so every full-time employee has equity. \nWeโre a highly skilled team of software engineers who are building an awesome product and moving fast. We value people who take initiatives, and empower everyone at Klue to make a real change in the product or processes. \n\n\nWe are looking for Backend Engineers to work with our team to deliver high quality products in the most efficient way.\n\n\n๐กFAQ \n\n\nQ: Klue who?\nA: Weโre Klue and from a technical perspective, Klueโs mission is to descale huge amounts of data to the human level, so people can process it and make use of it. Klue is that trusted intermediary, right now itโs proven for sales enablement, but tomorrow itโs all teams enablement.\n\n\nQ: What level of experience are we looking for?\nA: Right now we are looking for senior level experienced Back-End Engineers. \n\n\nQ: What is our development team working on?\nA: As part of our backend team, we are concerned with data storage and retrieval and the infrastructure to enable that. Hereโs what our development team is working on and the opportunity for motivated Software Engineers to dig into, alongside us:\n- Big Data - lots of data \n- Ingesting thousands of news articles, web pages, marketing and sales data points per day. The challenge is indexing them for a long period of time and making them searchable and ready for different analysis.\n- Expanding our Rails REST API and offering public APIs to enable integrations.\n- Architect infrastructure for a scalable, resilient and robust service. We are migrating from a monolith architecture to K8S-hosted microservices. \n\n\nQ: What is our current tech stack?\nA: Python (Flask), Ruby (Rails), PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, GCP, AWS, Tensorflow, Keras, Docker, Kubernetes.\nWe code review all changes, continuously integrate, pay down technical debt, and aim for high automated test coverage. We love microservices and, while we mostly use Python, Ruby, Google Cloud Platform, Linux, JavaScript, and React, new services can be built using whatever tools make sense to get the job done and support our game-changing innovation.\n\n\nQ: Are you HYBRID FRIENDLY ๐คฉ ?\nA: YES! Our hub is in Vancouver, BC, and most of our engineering is located in PST. Ideally, this role would be located in a Canadian timezone. We currently have team members in a couple of other hubs across Canada (Toronto & Winnipeg) and other countries.\n\n\n\nQ: What skills do you bring? \n* Expertise in at least one of the general programming languages like Python, Ruby, Go, Rust, Javascript, or similar.\n* Expertise in relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL\n* Experience in designing REST APIs\n* Experience using NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch or MongoDB is a plus\n* Experience using Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP is a plus\n* Bonus if you have Data Engineering interest and experience; ETL Pipelines, Snowplow, Snowflake, Big Query Redshift, Airflow, or equivalent.\n\n\n\nQ: What motivates our current team right now?\n* The type of work. Challenging, stimulating and meaningful work. New and relevant tech stack. We know engineers/developers especially want to work on hard technical and innovative problems.\n* The inspiration from skilled and proven leaders.\n* Entrepreneurial fingerprints on what will be a future billion dollar company anchored in Canada.\n* Culture, team, and the work environment.\n* High degree of autonomy and accountability.\n* High degrees of transparency and high quality communication.\n\n\n\nQ: What are the people at Klue like?\n* Builders\n* Intellectually Curious\n* Ambitious\n* Objective Oriented\n* Check us out!\n\n\n\nQ: What about total compensation & benefits?\n* Benefits. We currently have extended health benefits starting on your 1st day.\n* Time off. Take what you need. We want the team to prioritize wellness and avoid burnout. Vacation usually falls into 3 categories: recharging, life-event, & keeping a work-life balance. Just ensure the required work gets done and clear it with your team in advance. You need to take at least two weeks off every year. The average Klue team member takes 2-4 weeks of PTO per year.\n\n\n\n\n$140,000 - $175,000 a yearWe gather compensation benchmarking data across the BC & Canadian Tech Industry and use that data to build a range for our current team and future talent. Your exact salary is determined by experience level, skill, capabilities, and internal pay parity.\nIf you feel like this role is a great fit and have questions about comp, get in touch and weโre happy to discuss further. There is always an ongoing conversation around compensation.\n\n\nโฌ๏ธ โฌ๏ธ โฌ๏ธ โฌ๏ธ โฌ๏ธ\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLastly, we take potential into consideration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of the specifics listed above. If you know you have what it takes, even if thatโs different from what weโve described, be sure to explain why in your application. Reach out and letโs see if there is a home here for you now or in the future.\n\n\nWeโve made a commitment to support and contribute to a diverse environment; on our teams and in our community. Weโre early in our journey; we've started employee led resource groups, committed to Pay Up For Progress, and use success profiles for roles instead of 'years of experience'. We continue to scale our efforts as Klue grows. Weโre proud to be an equal opportunity employer and have dedicated that commitment to our current and future #kluecrew. During the interview process, please let us know if there is anything we need to make more accessible or accommodate to support you to be successful.\n\n\nAll interviews will be conducted via video calls. We work in a hybrid model of WFH (remote) and in-office. Weโre excited to meet you and in the meantime, get to know us:\n\n\n ๐ Pay Up For Progress & 50 - 30 Challenge & Klue Blog\nโ โ Win-Loss Acquisition (2023)\n๐ ฐ๏ธ Series A (2020)\n๐ Series B (2021)\n๐ Culture, culture, culture! \n๐ง Winning as Women & Competitive Enablement Show\n๐ Glassdoor\n๐ About Us\n๐ฅ Twitter\n๐ธ Instagram\nโ๏ธ LinkedIn\n๐ฆ Wellfound (AngelList) \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

\nCoinList is where early adopters invest in and trade the best digital assets, and is now one of the fastest growing crypto financial platforms. We support the full lifecycle of crypto investment, from token sales through token distribution, trading, lending, and crypto-specific services such as staking and access to decentralized-finance opportunities. CoinList users trade and store Bitcoin, Ether, Filecoin, and many other popular crypto assets through our full-service exchange, CoinList Pro, mobile apps and CoinList.co, while also getting access to the best new tokens before they list on other exchanges. We are the blue chip platform for blockchain companies, helping Filecoin, Blockstack, Solana, Celo, Algorand, Dapper, and others raise over $1.1 Billion. Our customer base includes validators, miners, founders, CEOs, crypto funds, bitcoin OGs, as well as a broad array of crypto enthusiasts. We are backed by top-tier investors, have offices in San Francisco, New York, Montreal and are just getting started.\n\nAs an engineer at CoinList youโll find that your days are filled with all sorts of fascinating challenges -- from developing smart contracts, to architecting a high performance exchange, to simplifying the complex to help bring crypto to a mainstream audience. Our work is difficult and ambitious, which is what makes it fun.\n\nSpecifically, we are looking for a Senior engineer with 5+ years of experience who loves to build across our critical financial systems at CoinList. It's also a big plus if you'd had some experience building products in Ruby on Rails or Elixir. \n\nIf you are an entrepreneurial person with exceptional engineering talent, weโd love to hear from you!\n\nWho you are:\n\n\n\n\n* \nYou like to ship high quality code. You make deadlines for yourself and you move fast. You focus on the things that matter and push back on things that donโt. People know they can count on you to get things done.\n\n* \nYou love to code. You build stuff for fun on nights and weekends. You contribute to open source. You have deep expertise in certain areas but you consider yourself a generalist and you enjoy learning new platforms.\n\n* \nYouโre really smart. You were a top student in your computer science program or have been teaching yourself programming from an early age. You like being around people who challenge you.\n\n\n\nYouโre curious. You want to understand how things work. You value interesting things, especially outside your discipline. You like teaching others and constantly learning. You read and question things.\n\n\n\nYouโre scrappy and entrepreneurial. Youโve built apps for fun and worked on side projects before. Youโre interested in all aspects of startups - from user testing, to marketing, to raising capital. If you havenโt already started your own company, you think you might like to in the future.\n\n\n\nYou care about the product. You might not be a product expert, but you value good design. You enjoy thinking about why certain products work and discussing new apps. You want to build delightful products that users love and that make peopleโs lives more meaningful.\n\n\n\nYou have good values. You enjoy hanging out with your teammates, make the workplace more fun for everyone, and care about doing the right thing.\n\n\n\nYou are a 10x thinker, far more excited by huge disruptions than by small improvements. If something is hard, that makes it more fun, and you know that if anyone can figure it out, you can.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat you will do:\n\n\n\nYouโll contribute in all areas. You might choose to go deep in web development or building open source dev tools to automate our operations, but like your teammates youโll make a habit of working across the stack, frequently picking up new languages and platforms as needed.\n\n\n\nYouโll ship product. From hack days, to experimental prototypes, to developing a new type of auction model, youโll constantly be building and shipping product. Youโll write clean, well-documented code, do unit tests, follow best practices, and have the benefit of working in a place where people move fast.\n\n\n\nYouโll rapidly grow and improve. At CoinList youโll be working with some of the smartest engineers youโve ever met, who love to learn and teach each other. Youโll find yourself stretching to new areas, immersed in feedback, and engrossed in deep conversations on a daily basis.\n\n\n\nYouโll help shape the product. Our whole team cares deeply about the product and has significant input into its development. Youโll beta test new prototypes and talk directly with users, and your ideas will always be heard.\n\n\n\nYouโll learn about startups. From fundraising, to recruiting, to negotiating an office lease, youโll learn everything there is to know about growing and running a startup of your own, and weโll do everything we can to connect you with mentors and advisors to help you with your career for years to come.\n\n\n\nYouโll be an owner. We believe in hiring smart people and giving them as much responsibility as they can handle. Whether itโs running a critical token sale or leading our work on a new platform, weโll make sure you are always pushing yourself to new levels.\n\n\n\nYouโll create the future. Crypto is a far bigger deal than most people realize, and at CoinList you will be be at the forefront of it. ๐ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!
When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. There are all sorts of technical challenges youโll be working though and new questions youโll have to answer, in partnership with founders for the leading crypto projects across the globe. If youโre successful, youโll build something the world has never before seen.\n\n\n\n\n\nAs an early employee at CoinList you will be a critical part of our core team and have a huge influence over the direction of the company. We will compensate you well, invest deeply in your development, and do everything we can to make sure this is the single best work experience of your life. \n\nAt CoinList, we are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity, value our differences, and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.\n\nBase salary range: 175 - 215k + equity + bonus.
