Nexus Mutual is hiring a Remote Senior Frontend Engineer
\nNexus Mutual is an on-chain risk marketplace operated by and for members. Our mission is to build an ecosystem in which anyone can protect anyone else by sharing risk. The mutual launched in 2019 and has become the leading coverage provider within the DeFi ecosystem with more than $7.3m in claims, that have been paid to date.\n\nThe protocol provides a decentralized, transparent alternative to traditional insurance companies. The economic incentives within the mutual solve the centralized insurance industry's core problem: the principal-agent problem.\n\nWhat weโre looking for\n\nWe are looking for a frontend engineer to work with us to build the premier on-chain risk marketplace for DeFi, CeFi and beyond. You can learn more about us here: Twitter, Discord, Github. Someone who can work end to end, to help us build and deploy intuitive user interfaces that span our web pages and applications.\n\n\n\n\nOur team is working with web3 technologies across the stack. The ideal person is someone who is user oriented, has a good understanding of UX best practices, is passionate about building scalable applications, and highly curious about DeFi and Crypto.\n\n\n\n\nApp layer: React.js, Redux, ReduxSaga, Reselect, GraphQL, Node.js, TypeScript, AssemblyScript, MongoDB\n\nWeb3: Solidity, OpenZeppelin, Chainlink oracles, Hardhat, Mocha, Chai, Tenderly, IPFS, The Graph, Ethers.js, Web3-onboard.js\n\nInfrastructure: AWS, CircleCI, Coveralls, Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAreas you will contribute to\n\n\n* Develop and maintain the Nexus Mutual web pages and applications\n\n* Integrate with our smart contracts to fetch data around covers, claims, and staking\n\n* Continuously adapt the design framework based on research and user needs to improve usability\n\n* Integrate and adapt the UI for the new Governance system, once we adopt it\n\n* Keep up with smart contract changes, review contributions, and components developed by the ecosystem and design partners\n\n* Integrate with other chains to build native experiences for users to be able to prove losses\n\n* Debug and fix user-reported issues\n\n\n\n\n\n* 5+ years of experience on frontend development and JS based frameworks\n\n* Proficient with React, Redux, CSS and HTML\n\n* Understanding of API frameworks, plus experience with fetching and displaying dynamic data\n\n* Understanding of modern, client-side, architecture\n\n* Being self-motivated and eager to keep up with the fast paced and agile team.\n\n* Being obsessed with clean code and engineering best practices\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will stand out if\n\n\n* You are interested in decentralization and web3 technologies\n\n* You are curious about crypto, DeFi, tokenomics and game theory\n\n* You have experience with the web3 frontend stack (ethers.js / web3.js, etc)\n\n* You have knowledge of UX best practices\n\n* You have worked on finance-related, retail or institutional products\n\n* You have a keen eye for security\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhatโs in it for you\n\n\n* Be part of a small and dynamic team, where passion for our work describes and sets the tone for everything that we do.\n\n* Opportunity to get involved in solving both technical and philosophical challenges around human coordination in the context of insurance\n\n* Flexible remote work schedule, with regular in-person offsites. We are a fully remote organization that strives to pave the way for the future of insurance.\n\n* A competitive fixed (fiat component) compensation package, plus a generous token allocation.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy are we doing this?\n\nThe concept of insurance comes from communities in the past who pooled their resources to protect each other from the risks they all faced. It works better the more people are in the pool as the numbers become more reliable. But this method isnโt scalable because it is a trust-based system and the network of individuals trusted by everyone in the pool only extends so far. Hence traditional insurance companies emerged.\n\nWhen Ethereum and smart contracts came along we realised we could apply our insurance industry knowledge to our passion for decentralised technology. We realised we could build a mutual on a platform where individuals only need to trust the system, not everyone in it.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpecifically, we could see a solution to the problem of agencyโwhere an insurer looks after customers' money on their behalf. We also saw the opportunity to make significant cost savings compared to the traditional insurance model. As weโre already in the UK, we have the perfect base to build out this concept due to the existing law around mutuality.\n\nThe aim is to provide our members with more simple, transparent, accessible, and affordable financial protection against their risks.\n\nMore info here ๐ https://nexusmutual.gitbook.io/docs/welcome/faq/nexus-mutual-the-basics \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

\nWe are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our rapidly growing team. Our frontend engineers work as a small, agile unit consulting across product lines to improve usability throughout the business. Paxos defies traditional divisions and gives frontend engineers ownership over the design, implementation and testing of new features. Every engineer, despite seniority, has the opportunity to influence our product strategy by working directly with stakeholders, helping define feature requirements, and refine usability patterns. A commitment to teamwork, empathy, and strong communication skills are absolute requirements. \n\nPaxos uses a mix of open source technologies and leading vendor offerings to build our products. As a member of the frontend team, you will primarily work with:\n\n\nReact, Typescript, and SASS Modules for implementing layouts\n\nWebpack and NodeJS to build our application\n\n\n\n\nAbout Paxos\n\nPaxos is on a mission to enable the movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. Todayโs financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky - supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So weโre rebuilding it. \n\nAs a regulated blockchain infrastructure company, we use technology to tokenize, custody, trade, and settle assets for enterprise clients like PayPal, Bank of America, and Interactive Brokers. Paxos is a top-funded blockchain company, with more than $500 million in total funding from leading investors like OakHC/FT, Founders Fund, PayPal Ventures, and Declaration Partners. Together, we empower todayโs financial leaders to build a more open, trusted economy.\n\nWhat you will do: \n\n\n* \nHelp found an internal component library that will be used across business lines and in marketing materials to standardize Paxos look and feel.\n\n\n* Implement interfaces for a variety of internal and external facing features taking inspiration from both the crypto and fintech worlds.\n\n* Create high resolution mockups to test interfaces with users.\n\n* Help to define the companyโs design to engineering pipeline.\n\n\n\n\nWhat you need to have: \n\n\n* Extensive JS experience, pre and post ES6. Comfort writing code for the DOM and transpiler.\n\n* 3+ years of work experience (as either a technical designer or frontend engineer).\n\n* Strong, loosely held opinions on frontend state management, layout construction, and testing strategy.\n\n* An understanding of how to leverage typed languages to improve code safety.\n\n* Comfort using one or more Interface Framework (React, Vue, Angular, etc.) \n\n* Basic understanding of raw HTML / CS\n\n* Experience working cross functionally and directly with stakeholders\n\n\n\n\nWhat youโll love about Paxos:\n\nPaxos has consistently been recognized on the Forbes Fintech 50, CB Insights Blockchain 50 and Built Inโs โBest Places to Workโ lists. Paxonians have significant ownership and impact on our business, as well as benefits like company equity, health insurance, family leave, a quarterly stipend for development, a stipend for home office setup and unlimited PTO.
