At LaunchBrightly, we are on a mission to automate a process that continually captures and enhances screenshots of all your SaaS product features. The continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline and process that engineers adopted over the last decade, is what we ultimately want to build for customer support teams. TLDR; LaunchBrightly = Github Actions/Circle CI for customer support. And we are currently looking to bring onboard a strong Application Engineer.ย
Everyone at LaunchBrightly is a creator, an owner, or perhaps better, a celebration of the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. Most big companies are afraid of entrusting the future of the company and their software to a few makers, and as they defend against that, they end up with three layers of managers and a product designed by a committee. We want the opposite. We need the opposite as we enter virgin territory trying to build that CI/CD pipeline and process for the support organization. As our customer pushes a new feature to production, we automatically update all product images within the help center. This is a thrilling adventure!
Our work is remote, not distant. We believe that being a remote-first organization allows us to build an exceptional team composed of makers and sellers with diverse backgrounds and skill sets from around the globe. Our default work culture is asynchronous and emphasizes written communication to prioritize maker time, focus and company productivity. Our goal is not to eliminate face-to-face interaction, but we should default to a setting where written documentation is so strong that a meeting on most project subject matters would seem odd.ย ย
Founded in 2022, and backed by prominent venture firms including IA Ventures, Tuesday Capital, and B Capital Group, this is a unique opportunity to join this band of misfits on the ground floor. As an early teammate you will be working intimately with the founding team, who has done 0 to 1 five times over while seeing four of them come to an exit.
The Application Engineer will become an integral member of an intimate 9-person team consisting of:
However, we are looking not just for an Engineer but, rather, a teammate we see as integral to LaunchBrightlyโs long-term journey and vital to our success. Someone who is comfortable in the dark and who sees a certain romance, like we do, in embracing the unknowns that come with being on the startup journey. We have a track record of seeing those colleagues who join us on the ground floor of our ventures ride the startup journey to completion (exit) with us, as we grow and become successful together. This is something we take seriously, and something we are extremely proud of!ย
Job Description
You'll work with Jose (and the remainder of the team) on the logic layer that powers our product: workflows, task runners, state machines, rules engines, and orchestration. You'll work in Typescript directly in the Vue App, and often in JS in AWS Lambdaโs, tune our data models, and shape how primary product features like Audits function behind the scenes. You're not building APIs or UI โ you're building the actual product behavior. Think of yourself as a Product Logic & State Orchestration Engineer.ย
This is a hands-on role for an engineer who loves building reliable systems that model real-world processes. Youโll work on the internal state machines that govern how screenshots flow through the system, are transformed, enhanced, and delivered. Youโll define rules engines that let non-technical users control automated behavior, manage task orchestration across Lambda and queues, and shape our schema design to handle complex edge cases with clarity and performance in mind.
Youโll thrive in this role if you think deeply about how complex systems behave over time, have strong opinions on data modeling and event-driven workflows, and enjoy writing deterministic, testable, observable logic. If you care more about product behavior than presentation, and love turning business intent into robust execution โ this is for you!
We are looking for previous experience working with
Building production-grade B2B web apps, including everything that comes with robust, scalable software: business logic, testing, observability, and performance.
Writing TypeScript in a modern frontend architecture (Vue 3 SPA) and JavaScript in AWS Lambda functions.
Working deeply to create meaningful and maintainable test coverage across core business logic (e.g. Vitest).
Designing and modeling robust data schemas for DynamoDB and GraphQL queries, with a strong intuition for how data shapes product behavior.
Consuming and reviewing internal APIs using Postman, and contributing clear, actionable feedback to improve them.
Implementing Serverless architecture with AWS Amplify, including event-driven flows and task orchestration.
Having a good functional understanding of UI-layer concerns (HTML, DOM, TailwindCSS, HeadlessUI), but focusing your energy on what happens beneath the surface โ the orchestration, rules, and workflows that make the app tick.
What you bring to the table
Minimum of 3 years of industry experience
A customer-first mentality, with an instinct to imagine how users will react and interact
Strong and precise communication and documentation skills, with a will to understand and be understood
Prides themselves on writing highly readable, thoroughly tested code
The personal organization skills and patience to manage multiple contexts as projects and features come together. A good dev can do things like: juggle tickets and Git branches, keep zero inbox, write notes for themselves to keep their small tasks straight, whip up shell scripts/test data to automate repetitive tasks
A passion for being part of the startup journey and taking ownership of the companyโs success
A willingness to take initiative and enthusiasm to make an impact and take action
Thrives in a highly collaborative environment and enthusiasm for being a team player
Bonus point if you
Built Apps on the AWS Amplify (Serverless Design) framework, which is the primary backdrop for our App.ย ย
What we offer
Flexible working hours and locations. Your success is measured on outcomes
A culture of NO meetings where maker time and productivity is prioritized
Excellent start-up culture with openness and inclusiveness
True ownership and autonomy over your role and the impact on the company
Prioritization of focus time and productivityย
Your choice of technical setup and equipment
Experienced founders with many years of successfully building product across multiple ventures
Annual meetup as a team in New York City.
What to expect in the interview process
Given the remote nature of our work setting, one of the core principles for how we operate as a remote team is written communication. And we therefore run a slightly unique interview process that begins with an email-based exchange to learn more about your background, communication style and overall fit for the role.
Stage 1: Youโll begin with an email conversation with our Co-founder, Josh Peacock, to get a sense of your technical background, written communication, and English proficiency.
Stage 2:ย Next, you'll have a follow-up email exchange with one of the Makers on our team on a set of more technical questions to get a deeper understanding of your technical knowledge and capabilities.
Stage 3: Weโll then ask you to complete a short technical assignment to demonstrate your practical skills in action.
Final stage: Youโll have two video callsโone with our Founder, Dennis Mortensen, and another with a Maker from the team to give us a chance to connect more personally and explore how you'd fit into the team.

What is LoanCrate?
We started LoanCrate to make home-buying simpler and less expensive for lenders and borrowers (us!). Today, mortgage lenders are stuck running their companies on software products built 20 years ago. These products are slow and unstable, and end up costing lenders millions of dollars in other otherwise preventable mistakes every year. LoanCrate solves those problems and more, helping lenders improve the home-buying experience for people all over the country.
Since starting in January 2021, our remote team has raised $9m, grown to 15 people, and launched our first product. And since adopting LoanCrate in June '21, our customers have used LoanCrate to power >$50 billion in new home loans. As a company, we're on track to be cash-flow positive in 2023.
Our team is a group of people excited to tackle the complexity of the home-lending industry. We care about collaboration, very open communication covering the good & the bad so that we learn from our decisions quickly, and ultimately having fun while we're building. You'll fit in well if you like diving deep quickly!
The opportunity
Our dreams are big and we have much to build! We're looking for senior software engineers to help lead our team in powering the future of home buying in the US (which could entail managing a majority of US home loans every year โ financial assets worth trillions of dollars).
We are excited to offer competitive salary and equity for this role.
What to expect
As an engineer at LoanCrate, you'll continue our team tradition by shipping code to production on your first day! Following that, within your first month, you'll dive into your first mission-critical project, such as...
๐ Architecting, building, and launching v2 of our no-code platform that our customers use to digitize their ops workflows and save millions of dollars per year.
๐ค Integrating with 3rd-party providers of lending services APIs to generate documents/disclosures, produce automated underwriting results, or prevent fraud.
๐ Architecting, building, and launching the next generation of our job processing infrastructure on AWS to make LoanCrate's back end more observable and reliable.
Tech stack
Nearly all of our code is written in TypeScript. We use React on the frontend, Node/Express on the backend (running inside Docker), GraphQL/Apollo on both sides, and Postgres as our database. We use AWS (ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, SNS, and more) and manage all of our infrastructure with Terraform.
We believe that high engineering velocity drives high product velocity (and, in turn, our success as a company ๐). Keeping this in mind, we've invested heavily in creating a great developer experience that enables engineers to ship fast. Some highlights of our stack:
โ๏ธ End-to-End Type Safety - We generate TypeScript types from our Postgres and GraphQL schemas so that when we change our database schema we see type errors in any incompatible frontend React components.
๐ Full-Stack Code Sharing - Our build tooling supports seamless sharing of TypeScript files between the client, server, and other packages in our mono-repo so that we never have to define functions or configuration values twice.
๐ Reproducible Infrastructure - Weโve used Terraform to manage 100% of our infrastructure since day 1 and have configured our CI pipeline to automatically deploy temporary staging environments for every pull request. We use these per-PR environments to get feedback from teammates and test any infrastructure changes using infrastructure that's identical to production.
๐งช First Class Testing Utilities - We have a comprehensive library of utilities that mock production-like data and feed automated end-to-end, integration, and performance tests. Our wide-ranging test suite allows us to move fast while maintaining nearly perfect uptime.
Preferred skills and background
(It's okay not to have all of these things - these are just some skills we are excited about!)
๐ A constant and keen eye for security risks โ we store and display some of people's most sensitive personal data and need to keep it safe!
๐จ A desire to be product-oriented, from thinking through the product implications of what you're building to contributing your unique ideas of how to improve the product.
๐๏ธ Ability to develop readable, maintainable, and effective software architecture patterns that support use of our product by various enterprise customers (each with thousands of employees and their own methods for running their companies).
๐ฉโ๐ซ๐จโ๐ซ Excitement to mentor less senior engineers in both hard and soft skills.
๐ SRE-oriented mindset for developing infrastructure that's reliable, observable, and requires minimal toil to maintain.
๐ฉ๏ธ Experience scaling high-throughput distributed systems in the cloud. Bonus points if you're experienced with infrastructure-as-code solutions like Terraform or CloudFormation!
๐ง Ability to develop full-stack web app features from design through deployment.
๐ข๏ธ Experience designing and scaling complex relational DB schemas, as well as figuring out performant ways to store, retrieve, and update such data. Home loans have thousands of data fields ๐.

Since starting in January 2021, our remote team has raised $9m, grown to 13 people, and launched our first product. And since adopting LoanCrate in June '21, our customers have used LoanCrate to power >$42b in new home loans.

Sibiย (pronounced: see-bee) is modernizing the antiquated procurement industry. We are simplifying the process of building and improving a property by connecting manufacturers, contractors, and homeowners directly on one platform.
At Sibi, we strive for a culture where teamwork is the epicenter of everything we do because innovation is dependent on diverse perspectives. As a company that ships software in an ever-evolving industry, we favor "shipped" over "perfect," betting on incremental delivery without sacrificing quality. We move fast, with confidence, at a sustainable pace.
At this time, Sibi is only considering applicants who currently reside in the US.
About you
The ideal candidate values collaboration over solo effort. We plan ahead, outlining high-level tasks & objectives, and often pair program.

Our Interview Process
We don't do whiteboard interviews. We optimize our process around you and real-world problems, not algorithms on a whiteboard.
Our process starts with an initial call with a senior member of our engineering team. This is mainly a screening interview where we get to know you and tell you about the company, team, and specific role.
The second stage is a technical interview. We will build a feature or fix a bug together on our actual codebase because we'd like you to know what you're getting into.
Our third and final step is an in-office or video call so you can meet with a number of our team members. We want to give you a firsthand look at the life and culture of Sibi.

๐ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!

Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. Virtual Pricing Director is hiring a full-stack engineer to help implement our new legal tech web application - contributing across all aspects of our app, its data, architecture and deployment.\n\nWeโre a well-funded scaleup (no VC money) building the future of legal pricing, for small and large law firms alike. Our workflow and data management software means an end to overcharging clients, arbitrary pricing, and other bad practices that have existed for years.\n\nOur two directors are recognised world authorities in this domain, and bring a number of signed firms ready to use our software. We're off to a healthy start, busy preparing to deploy to one of the world's largest legal teams.\n\nThe work is varied, challenging, and we place equal emphasis on front and back-end. Because of the need to deliver scheduled features, fix bugs, and respond to the needs of newly onboarded firms, weโre looking for someone who relishes lots of hands-on work, contributing across the whole stack. \n\nOur app is powered by React, with Apollo Client for its GraphQL queries and mutations. It leverages Ant Design as the UI framework, upon which we build a mixture of UI components; some simple, some complex. On the back-end, we're using PostgreSQL as our RDS, TypeORM as our ORM, TypeGraphQL to define the API schema, and Apollo Server to deliver the GraphQL.\n\nBoth our front and back ends are coded in TypeScript. We believe in end-to-end testing and have therefore used Playwright to handle an automated E2E test script which runs before deployments.\n\nYou'll join us as we begin to roll out our product to some of the top law firms, and in time to help define, design and build the next two roadmapped modules, and to grow from there.\n\n\n**Upcoming projects across the team**\n\n* Building out a suite of new modules, from designing the underlying business logic and data models, to designing and implementing the application, front-ends and infrastructure\n* Standardising on common approaches that uphold modern enterprise architecture standards\n* New data visualisation and BI reporting solutions\n* Designing and implementing new APIs and data integration pipelines\n* Helping automate quality, CI/CD, and shaping a DevOps approach\n* Contributing to our development culture, methods, and tooling\n* Optionally; supporting dialogue with customers - discovery, requirements, technical solution design, implementation \n\n\n\n**We're looking for**\n\n* Someone with full-stack engineering abilities that span the application, front-end, data and infrastructure considerations\n* A good technical understanding of software engineering principles \n* Technology agnostic, and adept with TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL and GraphQL\n* An understanding of the principles of serverless applications, preferably based around AWS\n* Proficient with SQL, and web service design\n* An interest in upholding data security principles and helping choose and implement effective application architectures\n* Ability to unpack complex requirements, to uphold security of sensitive data and to conform to best practices\n* A collaborative, adaptable, user-centred approach\n\n\n**You may also bring - or like to gain - skills around**\n\nAnt Design | TypeORM | TypeGraphQL | Apollo Client | Apollo Server | Java | CircleCI | Heroku | Auth0 | AWS | TDD | Agile | Domain-driven design (DDD) | data modelling | integration patterns\n\n**Salary and benefits**\n\n* ยฃ70,000 - ยฃ90,000 - reviewed at six months - we're keeping an open mind\n* Share scheme for formative team members (once proven value to the business)\n* 25 days holiday, plus public holidays and a day for your birthday\n* Family-friendly and flexible culture - tell us what you need\n* Personal development plan that you can shape, with budget for related training/certifications\n\n**About us**\n\nVirtual Pricing Director has developed groundbreaking software to assist law firms to understand and price their fees, be that ยฃ10k or ยฃ10m. We are the authority for legal pricing and our software has attracted the attention of the largest firms in numerous countries, with a number of partnerships and customers signed. \nWe're now strengthening our fully-remote development team - you'll be our fourth engineering colleague, with more to follow - offering a culture where you will work under your own initiative towards common goals.
