Remote Director of Information Technology

\nMeet The Team: \n\nDirect and manage the implementation and maintenance of the overall IT platform/infrastructure for all Torc locations within the United States and Global sites. Oversee multiple areas within information technology, such as computer hardware, server software, networking, telecommunications, computer support, database analysis, data security, etc. Ensure the stability, integrity, and operation of all systems, and oversee the monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing of all network software, hardware, and operating systems. Oversee security solutions, including firewalls, antivirus, intrusion protection systems, disaster recovery, and back-up procedures.\n\nWhat Youโ€™ll Do: \n\n\n* Information Technology Leadership \n\n\n* Direct and manage the implementation and maintenance of the overall IT platform/infrastructure. Overseeing all technology operations and evaluating them according to established goals. Create and maintain reports and metrics to communicate systems strength and condition to the Leadership Team. Create reports and proposals identify needs of the department.\n\n* Oversee multiple areas within information technology, such as computer hardware, server software, networking, telecommunications, computer support, database analysis, etc. Ensure the stability, integrity, and operation of all systems, and oversee the monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing of all network software, hardware, and operating systems. Analyzing the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs. Identify the need for and provide recommendations for upgrades, configurations, or new systems to maintain the highest standard of computers and software for high tech industry business needs.\n\n* Monitor the organization's operational requirements, research strategies and technology solutions, and build the most cost-effective and efficient system to achieve those goals.\n\n* Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss. Oversee security solutions, including firewalls, antivirus, intrusion protection systems, disaster recovery, and back-up procedures.\n\n* Facilitates IT security audits or investigations. Collaborate with People Operations, Legal, and external police and emergency services ad needed for investigations. Thoroughly document all security and loss abuse.\n\n* Lead the development of IT policies, procedures, and systems for computer systems operations and development and support the implementation and maintenance of strategies set by senior leadership team.\n\n* Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts.\n\n* Develop, implement, and maintain cost efficient and secure systems for new and enhance sites for national and global locations. Collaborate with local officials, utilities, and vendors to establish and maintain the highest level of IT services and cost efficiency for Torc locations.\n\n\n\n\n\n* Financial Management \n\n\n* Control and maintain the IT budget and expenditures ensuring the technology needs of business and employees are met. But our model is fundamentally a simple one: organizations pay dues to the cooperative and in exchange get access to an array of heavily-discounted resources and services, including voter files, software licenses for dozens of major progressive organizing tools, and strategic and technical support from TMCโ€™s expert staff of analysts, engineers, data scientists, and researchers. We estimate that the value we have delivered to the movement now exceeds $250 million: we have grown to 75 member organizations and over 1,000 of their affiliate groups, learning and collaborating via shared technical infrastructure, trainings, convenings, and cooperative projects.\nPosition Overview:\n \n\nThe Chief Technology Officer is the vision-setter for how TMC provides technical support and strategic services to our member organizations.. More specifically, the TMC tech stack currently encompasses:\n\n\n* A BigQuery instance with a dedicated project for each TMC member. \n\n\n\n* Approximately 350 users leverage the warehouse.\n\n\n\n* Civis Platform for orchestration, workflows, and templated scripts\n\n* Over sixty centrally maintained syncs from tools used by TMC Members which include: \n\n\n\n* Database replication from vendor-owned SQL mirrors\n\n* Flat file transfers\n\n* AirByte for API-based syncs\n\n\n\n* A dbt project to centrally manage the transformation of all synced data, in addition to communal data projects\n\n* The Parsons open source Python package\n\n\n\n\nThe Chief Technology Officer manages three distinct Technology departments and oversees a staff of more than 20 people:\n\n\n* Engineering: The Engineering Team is responsible for technical infrastructure, most notably the data warehouse and the syncs that bring data into the warehouse. The team currently includes a Director of Engineering, a Senior Data Engineer, a Data Engineer, and a Support Engineer. They own our sync infrastructure and dbt project, in addition to responding to member requests via Freshdesk.\n\n* Data & Technology Strategy: The D&T Team is TMCโ€™s largest team, currently at close to 20 staff, including a Director, managers, Project Leads, Strategists, and Data Associates. The team partners with our members, leveraging TMCโ€™s resources to enhance and optimize their organizing work. Their work includes, but is not limited to, building pipelines to move data from the warehouse into organizing tools and building novel reporting systems, \n\n* Special Projects: The Special Projects Team is tasked with cross-departmental work that leverages technology, such as low and no-code apps, to find solutions to hairy and novel problems.
