\nQuansight is invested in supporting the open-source PyData ecosystem. An internship at Quansight Labs is an opportunity to contribute to a PyData open source project, with dedicated mentorship from a project maintainer or contributor and interacting with the whole Quansight Labs team.\n\nWe aim to take on around 8 interns over the July-September period, who will each work on a challenging topic and, if successful, will have significant value to the open-source community.\n\nPotential projects include working on NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, Jupyter, conda-forge, data-apis.org, and more. They range from building a realistic performance benchmarking suite for a package to improving interoperability between two projects, new feature development, creating a design system for accessible data visualization, and implementing a new website design - see https://labs.quansight.org/ for more about the types of things we do in Labs.\n\nDuring the internship, youโll get to refine skills such as:\n\n\nContributing to open source\n\nPair programming\n\nConducting effective code reviews\n\nCommunication and collaboration\n\nTime management\n\n\n\n\nInterns will be working under the guidance of experienced mentors, who will guide and help review each project. They will also be able to meet and network with other interns in the same cohort and the larger Quansight team.\nEligibility and internship details\n\nPrevious experience contributing to an open-source project is helpful but certainly optional. Good working knowledge of Python and Git is necessary*. Other relevant skills - e.g., continuous integration, testing, benchmarking and documentation tools, and other programming languages like C, C++, Fortran, CUDA or JavaScript - may be beneficial for a particular internship project but are not required to apply.\n\nWe are also actively working on the technical writing, design, and accessibility spaces and welcome applications from folks interested in these areas (*Note that for applicants interested in areas such as design, Python and Git are not required, but instead, weโd like to see familiarity with design tools such as Figma or Penpot).\n\n\nStart date: flexible, mid-June to mid-July\n\nDuration: 2.5 - 3 months\n\nTime commitment: flexible, you should be able to commit between 25-40 hrs/wk\n\nEnglish language: we are a remote international company and we communicate in English. You do not need to be a proficient English speaker to apply, but should be able to communicate in written and oral English.\n\nCan be, but does not have to be, part of a formal curriculum. This program is open to current and non-students (including career changers, returners after a break in the workforce, boot camp alumni, self-taught developers/designers, etc.) with any educational background.\n\nThis is a paid internship.\n\n\n\nApplication process\n\nSubmit your application by the 4th of March 2024\n\n\n\n\nIn addition to your CV, we ask that you send a one-page cover letter. This is an opportunity to detail specific projects, your motivations, and anything not covered in a traditional CV template. You can also talk about why you are interested in working on open-source software and your goals for the internship and beyond.\n\nIf you have a portfolio, GitHub profile, blog or other resources, we ask that you share a link to them as well.\n\n\nInterview loop\n\n\n\n\nFirst interview: in the first call, we want to focus on the essentials - we want to get to know you and what you are passionate about. For the main part of the interview, weโll ask you some general questions and maybe some light technical questions, and weโll also ask you to talk us through a project (this can be any type of project - maybe one you developed at school, during a boot camp, as a side project, at your last internship or professional position). This project deep dive is a chance for you to tell us what excites you in your work or studies.\n\nTechnical interview: Our technical interviews do not involve code challenges, meaning they donโt focus on live coding or whiteboarding. In this stage, you can do a walkthrough of the code you wrote or some code connected to a relevant issue on an open source project. We will do a portfolio or design critique for design interns and discuss topics like user experience, communicating design decisions, and documentation.\n\n\nResults are communicated to candidates: we will aim to make a decision as soon as possible (within 2-3 weeks, but of course, this will depend on the number of applications we receive). To make this decision, we get everyone who interviewed you in a virtual room. We look at all the elements of your interview process and make a decision. By doing this, we ensure that we can make a fair decision and get a measured view of which project and mentor would be the best fit for you.\n\n We want to ensure that youโre in a space where youโll get to work on the things you enjoy doing and are passionate about and get the support and guidance you need throughout your internship. \n\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

Are you the bringer of order, slayer of chaos? Sounds like a match!\n\n\n**About us**\nWe are Brenger and weโre building a sustainable transportation platform that solves the inefficient way of transporting bulky goods by optimizing the utilization of every van on the road which reduces the CO2 emission along the way. # Why you should work for Accruvia\nBuild real-world applications that make a difference.\n\nYou will have the opportunity to work on our aspiring B2B flagship product โAccruvia Cloudโ. Advance your career by working on innovative features unique to the industry. As a full-stack engineer, you will gain a full sense of how the end-user experiences every feature and bug fix you commit. Experience near-instant gratification as frequent deployments deliver your handiwork to users without delay.\n\nYou will also get the chance to work on various other projects from time to time to ensure you stay stimulated.\n\n## Your income\n\nEarning money based on hourly pay means that you earn money in the exact same way that the company does: billing for time. Paying a salary would put competing incentives between the developer and the company. Instead, we tie your incentives directly in line with the company. So long as you work within our 20-35 hours per week guidelines, your income is 100% tied to how much you work.\n\nDo you do an amazing job meeting customer expectations with a minimal number of bugs? Thatโs called job security. Customers always have their favorite developers. Make a name for yourself with quality work.\n\nAccruvia also believes that connecting income to time worked maximizes team quality. The kind of people that want to collect a salary and drag the team down are not attracted to the company. That means you will work with talented colleagues that are motivated to make you, the code and the entire team better.\n\n## Quality of Life \n\nYour workweek totals 20-35 hours with 25 hours being the ideal amount. You can work at any time of day so long as your work hours are consistent and evenly spaced across 4-6 days per week. One of our teammates works from 11 pm โ 5 am in his local time zone because thatโs when he wants to work. The company cares more about you working when youโre at your peak mental state rather than the time of day when you work.\n\nMeetings are strictly limited to when they are necessary. Because your income is based on your time worked (which includes meetings), the company is incentivized to value and protect your work time.\n\n## An Engineerโs Environment\n\nTest-driven development comes first. We do not build features until existing code passes all tests. You are assigned tasks with the repository, at which point you are expected to own the problem and fix it. Because we operate in a โno micromanagingโ environment, we need a team player that sincerely cares about the impact his/her engineering decisions will have across the project.\n\nVersion control is paramount. Commits to a project are not meant to be a fancy save button. Commits tell the team, โI have tested this feature and itโs production-ready.โ\n\nNobody wants to get yanked out of bed to fix fires (we should not be like IT people on call!). Slow and steady keeps us looking sharp and polished to clients and keeps emergencies to a minimum. Itโs better for us and itโs better for our customersโ businesses.\n\n## Small Teams \n\nThe small but quickly growing. Your work is meaningful, appreciated and because of the small team size, you have the ability to significantly influence the architecture and frameworks used within our projects.\n\n# Technologies\n\nDjango 3.0 and related apps:\n\n Django REST Framework\n Celery, RabbitMQ\n\nHTML5\n\nJavascript:\n\n VUE\n Bootstrap\n React\n Node\n JQuery\n\nDocker, Git\n\nPostgreSQL\n\n# Must-haves\n\nYou must have 2+ years of direct experience with Django. Django is our MVC of choice and the technology that all developers in the organization share in common. \n\nMost Django developers also work in the frontend using Javascript and HTML5. Given the choice between an expert in Django and an expert in Javascript, we would choose Django. That said, our teammates need to come on board with a strong foundation in Javascript.\n\n2+ years of experience using Git for version control.\n\n# Nice to haves\n\nWebpack, Docker, expertise across multiple Javascript libraries, years of experience working with multiple types of databases (especially PostgreSQL)\n\n# Day to Day\n\nWe intentionally avoid chatter apps like Slack or Skype. Most questions do not require an immediate reply, making threads within the repositoryโs issue tracker our preferred method of communication. The biggest challenge for any developer is to minimize interruptions to help you spend most of your workday in the zone. Keeping chatter restricted to the issue tracking system keeps conversations organized and minimizes distractions. Genuine emergencies are handled over phone calls.\n\nAbout 80%+ of your time is spent architecting or writing code. The remaining time is spent on team communication โ reviewing proposed solutions from teammates, clarification on requirements, etc.\n\nThe types of projects and problems you encounter are everything related to MVC frameworks. Identify business problems, abstract them into models and serve the content through a browser.\n\n# About Accruvia\n\nIf forced to choose between technical expertise and teamwork, we choose teamwork every time. Our projects are too large for a single developer to manage on their own. Instead, the project manager distributes tasks in a way that leads to individuals owning large sections of code.\n\nBecause the team is 100% remote and the hours are flexible, everyone places a heavy emphasis on the following:\n\nโ Test-driven development. Our code is a reflection of ourselves and our work ethic. Every member of the team needs to prove to his colleagues that the committed code is production-ready.\n\nโ Incremental change. Major changes have a way of turning into major problems. Commits are best broken down into bite-sized steps to minimize the introduction of bugs.\n\nโ Proactive ownership over the codebase. If you see a problem, create a new issue to ensure that the team addresses problems before clients even know that they exist. ๐ Please reference you found the job on Remote OK, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!
When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. \nScalable Path is looking for a Frontend React Developer for E-Commerce Analytics Product to join the team and work on a client project. This is a remote, full-time position, but the client is also open to part-time availability.\n\nThe pay rate for this role is from $30 - $50 USD per hour, depending on experience and capability.\n\nCLIENT COMPANY DESCRIPTION:\nThe client is a SaaS startup backed by an established company with 50+ employees and over $100 million in annual revenue. The new product you will be working with has a smaller team and is focused on providing analytics and insights to companies who sell their products in marketplaces like Amazon.com and Walmart.com.\n\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nThe client has an existing monolithic web application that is built using PostgreSQL, Python (Flask). There are essentially 6 user dashboards that communicate different types of e-commerce data to the user (sales, traffic, ad spending, ROI, sentiment analysis, etc.). The HTML for these dashboards is currently being served by Flask and their appearance is rather generic. The client is redesigning each of the 6 dashboards and customizing each one to display data in precisely the way that makes the most sense for the specific data being displayed on the given page. The UX designer is using Framer and has already completed the new design for one of the dashboards.\n\nYour job will be to implement the new designs while simultaneously converting the dashboard from a monolithic page that is rendered on the server to a React/Redux-based page that consumes an API. For this reason, if you have experience with Python and Flask this would be a big bonus since you could help with the development of the API as well if needed.\n\nThe client uses Git for source control, Notion for task tracking, and Slack, Gmail, and Hangouts for communication.\n\nOther Responsibilities:\n- Collaborate with QA to write unit and integration tests for React/Redux.\n- Recommend the right JavaScript libraries for things like testing and charting\n- Assist with high-level architectural decisions keeping in mind scale and growth.\n- Deploy code to staging and production environments.\n- Positively contribute to a solid mission and be a critical voice within the team.\n\nRELATIONSHIPS - WHO YOU'LL BE WORKING WITH:\nYou will be reporting to the VP of Product and working closely with a UX Designer. There is also a full-stack developer, data scientist, and QA specialist on the team. There is an existing daily meeting at 10:00 am America/Chicago (-05:00) CDT.\n\nREQUIRED SKILLS:\n- Excellent written and spoken English\n- JavaScript (React and Redux)\n- HTML\n- CSS\n- Experience with data visualization libraries (such as D3.js or Plotly)\n- Experience with Automated Testing (Unit, Integration, and Performance)\n\nDESIRED (NICE-TO-HAVE) SKILLS:\n- Python (Flask)\n- PostgreSQL\n- Google Cloud Hosting\n\nSTART DATE:\nAs soon as possible.\n\nEXPECTED CONTRACT DURATION:\n2-4 months if working full-time (and potentially longer)\n\nNOTES:\nThe client prefers full-time but is open to candidates who are an excellent fit but may only available part-time. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

\nThird Light is hiring a Back End Engineer — a Go developer or someone who has been mixing Go into their work or personal projects and is readynow looking for a primarily Go-based role. \n\nYou may work remotely - joining a team that already includes remote workers - or from our Cambridge office.\n\nThis is about delivering sophisticated new product features for release to our state-of-the-art software service that helps people manage and share their digital media files easily – features that deliver immediate positive impact for our global user base. \n\nWe're a small and expanding software development team, building an enterprise application with a highly-polished UI, using the very best and latest techniques. We employ an iterative, design-led process where everyone on the team gets a say. \n\nOur product is a single-page JavaScript application loosely-coupled to a back end that's built on Go microservices and legacy PHP. We use microservices for all new features and Go is our chosen language to do this. In parallel we are migrating our older codebase to Go microservices.\n\nWe're agile and manage our work using a gentle Kanban process with daily stand-ups and we encourage a lightweight, productive approach to development. We can allocate projects that build upon your current strengths, and we offer a personal development approach that you may help shape.\n\nYour opinion and expertise will be valued from day one. \n\n\n\nUpcoming projects within the team\n\n\n* Integrate with social media to provide a publishing platform that can also gather user-generated content\n\n* Provide AI and machine vision to detect duplicate files and provide auto-tagging and OCR\n\n* Create a metrics & reporting system to track usage of features, document downloads and image views\n\n* Implement a full SFTP client & server interface to integrate with SLR Cameras and legacy systems\n\n* Extend workflow and automation microservices to create intuitive automated channel publishing tools\n\n* Automate orchestration of microservices in our product e.g. exploring Kubernetes\n\n* < your idea here! >\n\n\n\n\n\nWe're looking for\n\n\n* Someone who's positive about Go and wishes to embrace this exciting language\n\n* Proven back-end coding skills using either PHP or Go and for Linux\n\n* Demonstrable interest in Go—from industry, self directed learning or personal projects\n\n* An appreciation for continuous unit and integration testing\n\n* Skills in designing, building, testing and maintaining web services, ideally microservices\n\n* Ability to work with a large, live, production codebase\n\n* Familiarity with relational databases e.g. MySQL or PostgreSQL\n\n* Familiarity with CI/CD, preferably within a Git-based workflow\n\n* Optionally, familiarity with porting an OO monolith to a microservice architecture\n\n* Someone considering mid level back-end jobs such as: Go Developer | Go Microservices Developer | Golang Developer| Node.js Developer | PHP Developer | Python Developer | Back End Engineer | Back End Developer etc.\n\n\n\n\nYou may bring—or like to gain—skills exploring any of the following\n\n\n* Containers, containers as services and automated container deployment\n\n* Large-scale storage, manipulation and streaming of multimedia\n\n* Machine intelligence, visual recognition or similar numerical computation\n\n* Production experience in systems configuration, monitoring, logging, and metrics gathering\n\n\n\n\nOur current technology mix - we'll help you get up to speed\n\nGo (aka Golang) | JavaScript | PHP | NGINX | MySQL | SockJS | RabbitMQ | Debian | macOS | VMware | Git | Jira | Bitbucket | Bamboo | Slack | Basecamp\n\nSalary and benefits\n\n\n* up tp £50,000 — negotiable —we're keeping an open mind\n\n* Contributory pension scheme\n\n* Personal development plan that you can shape for related training/certifications/conferences\n\n* 25 days holiday + public holidays | flexible hours | bicycle and free car parking | on site cafe | good coffee and tea | fresh fruit | choice of high end workstation | an adorable Beagle to brighten the office\n\n\n\n\nWorking remotely: The Third Light development team embraced remote working a few years ago and now has workers in more than one country. We strive to provide a friendly, fun, supportive remote-working culture and we refine our processes to make remoting easier. We will welcome your ideas and contributions. We provide computing equipment and cover reasonable costs incurred from running a home office. \n\nNormally, as a new starter, you'd come to the office for a few weeks to get to know each other. Due to Coronavirus you will no-doubt join us remotely, at least temporarily, which will bring interesting challenges in how best to introduce you to, and integrate you into, the development team—how to train you, how to help familiarise yourself with our systems and ways of working. We see this as an interesting challenge so we’re working it out at the moment. We're planning a fully-remote ‘onboarding’ process with team meetups, one-to-one sessions and pair programming as well as online social gatherings for you when you join. \n\nIf you'd prefer to primarily work from our office this option will still be available to you after lockdown. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
