Our product today is a finance department in a box for startups – we take over management of all accounting and finance tasks, allowing entrepreneurs to focus on their product and growth while OpStart keeps their books clean and compliant. Delivering this product involves a combination of manual processes, software automation, and communication with customers. About Heliax

Heliax is a public goods lab which researches, develops, deploys, and maintains open-source protocols and mechanisms designed to serve the everyday needs of humanity. • At least 2-3 years of professional development experience. About the role

You’ll be the 3rd person joining our 2-person engineering team and will mainly work on the feature development. Upcoming are improvements to the collaboration experience, image support and the Discord sync.

While we use React, Typescript, Firebase and React Native, we’re not looking for a checklist of technologies. We’re looking for people who can demonstrate experience and deep knowledge about programming and the surrounding skills to ship projects. (We’re not open to junior positions at this moment.)

This means the ability to analyze problems, communicate how you’re going to solve them, the trade-offs involved with your approach, converting that into well-written code that your colleagues will have a good time continuing on and transferring knowledge. We value how much certain ideas and technologies fit the problem at hand and the overall architecture of the product, not which technologies are hot at at the moment.

We do combine simple ideas in exciting ways to allow us to achieve much more with a small team and create a developer experience only found in our company, with much more to come. This enabled that 95% of Memex was built by only 2 devs.

The economics behind Memex

We are a Steward Owned organisation in order to prevent profit maximisation incentives that lead to extractive business models and practices, while still giving the company the ability to grow big and fast. What is the job? 

No matter how powerful and flexible you build a platform, at the end of the day it’s the experience you can give the user that matters.  Radix is seeking a savvy frontend development expert to help build the tools that will define the future of decentralized finance (DeFi) and Web3.0 user experience.

DeFi and Web3.0 have turned out to be the killer apps that are taking public distributed ledgers from niche products for speculators and hobbyists to projects of global economic significance, and with them have come a new paradigm for user interfaces.  Authentication models, interoperability expectations, and the entire concept of user accounts are all undergoing dramatic changes; at Radix you’ll have the opportunity to define the way forward while working at the very cutting edge of a space undergoing furious growth.

Your initial focus will be development of full-stack typescript applications and integrated backend services spanning web and mobile devices that get users, their identity, and their assets connected to DeFi and Web3.0 applications on the Radix network. Working from Figma prototypes and pre-defined network APIs you will work within our Core Apps team to build and maintain web applications that interact with our unique mobile app, backend infrastructure to connect web and mobile experiences, and SDKs and technologies that developers will use to create their own web applications that interact with our mobile app.

What are we looking for? 

• You’re a confident coder who likes to work at the user interface level, and you have built public-facing websites or applications in Typescript in the past.

• You’re a generalist, and have experience building REST services and/or WebSocket backends.

• You are a researcher and enjoy requirements engineering for SDK development. 

• You like to actively shape designs and play with ideas as you build, and are comfortable iterating until it feels just right.

• You’re able to isolate the 90% case for user experiences.
