**$100k/year. 100% remote. Flexible schedule.**\n\nWeโ€™re looking for someone to help us design the next iteration of our state-of-the-art drag & drop website builder for WordPress.\n\nThis is a hybrid role: 50% design, 50% product.\n\nYour job will be to identify what customers need, make it easy-to-use and visually appealing, and implement your designs in HTML and CSS.\n\nYou're expected to be self driven, solve problem and make decisions on your own. You will have a high degree of ownership over what you create. We trust you to create the best designs you can - you can always ask for help and feedback though!\n\n**Required Skills & Experience:**\n* Product Design - what should we build?\n* UI / UX Design & Wireframes - how will it work?\n* Visual Design - make it pretty (Figma, Sketch, etc.)\n* Web Design - (knowledge of responsive, compressed assets, SVG, performance analysis, etc.)\n* Marketing Design - FB ads, YT thumbnails, etc.\n* HTML / CSS - ability to implement any design\n* Basic JS knowledge - (the sort of JS youโ€™d need for a typical website, such asdropdown menus, using slider libraries, etc.)\n\n**Nice to haves (but not required):**\n* WordPress experience / basic PHP experience\n\nYou will be working directly on our core product - a drag and drop website builder for WordPress. You will be designing new features and user interfaces, and also improving what already exists.\n\nYou will work directly with our founder, 3 senior software engineers, and 3 designers.\n\nSometimes youโ€™ll be responsible for implementation of your designs in HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript. But if more than HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript knowledge is required for implementation, our engineering team will take care of it.\n\nThere is lots of opportunity for professional growth in this role. We are a small, rapidly expanding team.\n\n**About You:**\n* Detail oriented\n* Smart & opinionated - you know how things should work, and you constantly see room for improvement\n* Humble - you know the best idea always wins, and that it doesnโ€™t matter where it came from\n* Independent - you are capable of being tasked with building โ€œfeature Xโ€, and doing what it takes to deliver\n* Clear & effective communicator\n* 5+ years of design / product experience\n\n**How We Work:**\n\nWe are an async-first company. We keep meetings and chat to the absolute minimum to foster focus-time.\n\nWe use Basecamp for team communication. Very occasionally you'll do a Zoom call to go over something with your collaborators, but itโ€™s quite rare (think 1 or 2 per month).\n\nAs a fully-remote team, we don't care what time zone you're in or at what times you're working. We only care about the quality of your work. \n\nWe consider good communication skills very important because of the above.\n\n**What We Offer:**\n\n* $100k/year\n* Fully remote\n* No scheduling requirements - you can work whenever you want\n* A work environment free from politics / meetings / interruptions / bs\n* No overtime / crunch time / rushing / stress. We are a calm company: https://basecamp.com/books/calm\n* $2k/year learning materials budget\n\n**How To Apply:**\n\nSend a resume and cover letter to Louis (the founder): [email protected]\n\nIf you sound like a good fit, weโ€™ll schedule a short call (~1 hour on Zoom) where weโ€™ll have a conversation about your design experience. And of course weโ€™re happy to answer any questions you have about us.\n\nWe are expecting to make a hiring decision in the next ~3 weeks. We are flexible, and are happy to give you some time to wind things down at your current position if necessary. \n\nPlease mention the words **MIRACLE RHYTHM UNKNOWN** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4yNDM=). This is a feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $100,000 — $100,000/year\n

### WHO ARE AWE\n\nWe are the original pioneers in the web-based Augmented Reality industry and after years of R&D, we launched the world's first "commercial webAR creation platform" way back in 2016. \n\nThe AWE (Augmented Web Experiences) platform enables people to create image AR, spatial AR, face AR, location AR and interactive 360ยฐ or webVR experiences using our drag and drop editing tool or your own custom code.\n\nOur customers are at the core of everything we do. We strive to make creating webAR experiences as easy as possible. They range from heavy hitting corporates, to government departments, global digital agencies, marketing agencies (small, medium and large), digital freelancers and educators. \n\nWithin these companies our customers tend to be the creative forces; think "designers, artists, 3d modellers, front end developers and js folk that don't have the knowledge or the time to get their heads into the complex space that is webAR". \n\nWe make their lives easier by giving them the online tools they need to create a range of webAR experiences that "just work". All in your web browser. Experiences that seamlessly work across different devices without needing to add any code (unless you want to). \n\nWe are seeing increasingly strong growth in our customer base as more people are coming to understand what AR is, and more importantly how AWEsome it is when it's delivered through the web browser. \n\nCovid also means people are using webAR to connect to their customers in new and innovative ways too.\n\n### WHAT DOES WORKING AT AWE LOOK LIKE?\n\nSince its inception, AWE has been a "remote first and remote only" company and have established our team, processes and work based around this idea. We believe that life and work aren't separate. Supporting our team to work flexibly and remotely enables people to be more productive and allows for you to fit "more of your life" into your day.\n\nOur team is currently distributed across Europe and the Asia Pacific region, although we're open to welcoming new team members from anywhere in the world. \n\nWe don't have a physical office. Your office could be your home or a co-working space, a beachside cafe or the top of a mountain. As long as you have an internet connection, you decide where you work from. We have a culture of trust and accountability so we don't tell you when and where to work. Rather we are focused on productivity and open communication within the team. We encourage the team to have at least a 2-4 hour working time crossover window each day, especially with team members you may be currently working on a specific project with. And each day we have an all-in team meeting. For some, this means starting earlier in their day (freeing up your afternoons and evenings), for others it is starting later in the day, and some even like to split up their work times across their day and evening.\n\nOur primary communication is via online chat, and tickets/wiki for work tasks, allocation and documentation. Our primary language is English as this is the common language across team members. We don't mind if you don't have perfect spoken English, however your written English needs to be pretty good, as is your ability to type quickly in online channels as part of team discussions.\n\nWe also have a flat team structure, so you will be talking and working with anyone and everyone in the team when you need to.\n\n### WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING\n\nWe don't believe in giving you a list of tools and frameworks you need to have a high proficiency in. We don't need you to have a specific number of years experience under your belt. What we are looking for is someone with a passion for the web and experience building web based applications to work with our growing team to continue our groundbreaking work in the spatial and augmented web. \n\n### ABOUT YOU:\n* You have a good working knowledge of HTML and CSS\n* Have at least some experience with vanilla javascript\n* Good git skills\n* Have a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite of tools or similar (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Invision, etc.). We're not asking you to be a designer, but you'll need to code product and project user interfaces, optimise images and other media from our content, design and UX team.\n* You have experience creating web based applications and\n* You are a great communicator. You appreciate the importance of clear communication, especially when workingย withย a remote team.ย \n* You bring a genuine aptitude for problem solving and the ability to work autonomously with a high degree of accountability. Youย are happy working on a task by yourself,ย but you take initiative to involve other team members whenย necessary.ย \n* You have aย high attention to detail.ย Youย are intimatelyย familiarย withย the complexitiesย ofย web development,ย e.g.ย mobileย responsiveness,ย browserย compatibilityย and ensure you QA all work before handing it over for integration or review.\n\n\n**Salary based on demonstrable skills and experience, and location.** \n\nPlease mention the words **RING DECORATE DISAGREE** when applying to show you read the job post completely (#RMjE2LjczLjIxNi4yNDM=). This is a feature to avoid spam applicants. Companies can search these words to find applicants that read this and see they're human.\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n $20,000 — $40,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nWorldwide

Weโ€™re looking for a smart, detail-oriented person to join our team as our first front-end engineer.\n\n**The Role**\n\nYouโ€™ll work closely with your teammates on the engineering team (Justin, Lucas, Hannes, Dani, and Jonathan) to create intuitive & engaging interfaces based on direction from the product team (Beka). While Jilt is built as a traditional Ruby/Rails app, we use Angular (v1) to power our visual email editor and Vue.js for some areas with a lot of dynamic content. Youโ€™ll work on both areas and help engineer an incredible user experience.\n\nWhile the majority of your time will be spent focused on the app front-end, we have some features that are powered by JavaScript running on our customerโ€™s stores. This means youโ€™ll be able to flex your defensive programming skills and ensure our code works in harmony with a wide variety of browsers and other 3rd party scripts.\n\nAs our first dedicated front-end engineer, the team will often look to you for advice and direction. Youโ€™ll help shape our best practices, decide on frameworks and tooling, and refactor older or underperforming parts of the codebase. Youโ€™ll also be responsible for moving your projects forward, communicating your progress and milestones with others, and clearly documenting your work.\n\n**Here are some things you may do on a given day:**\n\n- Write some new JavaScript (with unit tests ๐Ÿ˜„) to improve part of the onboarding flow\n- Track down a tricky bug in the email editor and develop a hotfix\n- Research and write a pitch to migrate our CSS to a new framework\n- Transform the design for a new part of the UI into HTML / CSS\n\n**On the first day you will:**\n\n- Meet your team and get familiar with how we work\n- Setup your local environment and tooling\n- Commit a small tweak to the codebase and ship it to production\n\n**In the first week you will:**\n\n- Develop, QA, review, and ship a small feature improvement\n- Participate in code review for a teammateโ€™s code\n- Help a team member with fixing a bug\n\n**In the first month you will:**\n\n- Work closely with the product team to ship a large feature\n- Participate in your first support rotation week and help our support team with escalated issues\n- Publish a retrospective on your first large project to share successes & planned improvements for the next project\n\n**You**\n\nYou love writing JavaScript thatโ€™s clear, self-documenting, and standards-compliant, whether by itself, alongside jQuery, or as part of a JS framework like Vue, Angular, or React. You believe in combining JS with beautiful & semantic HTML / CSS and are comfortable with supersets like CoffeeScript and templating languages like Slim. Youโ€™re also comfortable with Ruby / Rails and can move seamlessly between working on the back-end code that produces the data you need for front-end interactions.\n\nYou love beautiful design and working with others to transform concepts into real-world interfaces that are a joy to use. You love keeping up-to-date with the latest best practices and tools, and are constantly tweaking and improving the way you work.\n\nYouโ€™re excited to solve engineering challenges in the most pragmatic way possible, and most importantly, you keep the end user in mind and love getting feedback from customers to help improve our products.\n\nFinally, you canโ€™t wait to join a small team that loves their work as much as you do, affords the opportunity to work on challenging & interesting projects, continuously learn and improve, and constantly ship your work. Youโ€™re an excellent writer and can communicate effectively whether drafting up a bug report, chatting in Slack, or editing a wiki page. You know that code is about communication and explaining your thought process clearly goes hand-in-hand.\n\nOur team is fully remote and stays in touch primarily via Slack and weekly check-ins over Zoom. That said, we believe spending time together is important โ€” availability for 1-2 company-paid [team trips](https://jilt.com/blog/remote-team-retreat-2018/) per year is necessary.\n\nThis is a full-time, salaried position, but hours are flexible. We know your work will speak for itself with commits, issues closed, and wiki edits.\n\n**Here are some benefits we're happy to offer to our team members:**\n\n- Competitive salary\n- Annual incentive for meeting team and company goals\n- 27 days of paid time-off, in addition to 2 company holidays (SkyVerge Day in March, Founders Day in June ๐Ÿ˜€)\n- Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for US and Canadian residents and their families (reimbursements for comparable care for non-US/Canadian residents)\n- 401k/RRSP Retirement plan with 4% company match for US/Canadian residents (contributions to comparable plans for non-US/Canadian residents)\n- 8 weeks paid parental leave for new mothers and fathers\n- Work flexible hours from anywhere that has a reliable internet connection\n- Tools (hardware/software) to help you be productive\n- Allowance for professional growth (books, courses, conferences)\n- Home office or co-working allowance\n- A Kindle to help you keep learning\n\n*We support workplace diversity and do not discriminate on any protected class. We believe when we work together as a team of different views, experiences, and ideas, we can build amazing things.* \n\n# Requirements\nPlease apply directly through the link below.
