About Heliax
Heliax is a public goods lab which researches, develops, deploys, and maintains open-source protocols and mechanisms designed to serve the everyday needs of humanity. Using these protocols and mechanisms, we build vertically integrated products and networks that form coherent open systems which are capable of acting as an alternative to existing exploitative paradigms.
Two of the most notable vertically integrated protocols are Anoma and Namada.ย
Anoma is an intent-centric, privacy-preserving protocol for decentralized counterparty discovery, distributed solving, and atomic multi-chain settlement โ a radically novel architecture for decentralized protocols marking the beginning of the third generation of architectures ever since programmable settlement.
Namada is Anomaโs first fractal instance. It is proof-of-stake Layer 1 protocol for asset-agnostic, interchain privacy. The key innovations include ZCash-like shielded transfers for any assets (fungible and non-fungible), incentivised privacy sets, and interoperability with Ethereum via a custom bridge and IBC.
Heliax is a remote-first (but not remotely-only) team, currently composed of +50 cross-disciplinary members located around the world.

โย ย ย ย ย ย Youโre able to juggle around and work on different projects and side tasks on a weekly basis. While we wish we could focus on one thing for weeks at a time to make it perfect, thatโs often not the reality in a competitive market.

โย ย ย ย ย ย Work from anywhere (weโre 100% remote)
โย ย ย ย ย ย Flexible work hours, you get to plan your own schedule and work whenever you want
โย ย ย ย ย ย Developer Growth.

โย ย ย ย ย ย Your work with a great, talented team that produces a high-growth work environment (we move fast)
โย ย ย ย ย ย Opportunity to move up in the company, and earn higher pay and bonuses
A typical workweek (example)
โย ย ย ย ย ย Every Monday, we have a one-on-one Zoom meeting to discuss our goals, whether you are meeting your goals, what went well, what did not go well, and so on.
โย ย ย ย ย ย You have one or multiple projects to complete. You can work on them whenever and however you want without being micromanaged. However, you must be able to meet the deadline and be accountable for the quality of the end solution.
โย ย ย ย ย ย Youโre also responsible for maintaining the Github repository of the project youโre working on, committing/pushing/documenting your changes, commenting on your code, and writing SOPs or technical documentation (if necessary). It doesnโt have to be pages long and can be very short and concise. But, as a developer, it makes life so much easier if you can return to your code in the future without having to think too hard about what you did. This is also about being considerate of your teammates' time.
โย ย ย ย ย ย There must be some overlap in our working hours so you can respond to urgent requests (if any) or chat with your manager or any of our departments on demand if they have an IT question. This means that some extra tasks may arise during the week.
โย ย ย ย ย ย You might have a day where one of our team members needs something urgent and needs it done the same or the next day, which can be valuable to the company, or a major issue needs to be fixed ASAP, in which case you might have to drop what you're working on and work on that or troubleshoot the entire day. If your main project's deadline cannot be met because of this (which is understandable), you should be able to communicate this on time.
โย ย ย ย ย ย However, most of the time you are able to work on your main projects in solitary. We understand that developers need complete focus. You can also chat and ask questions in our Slack channels.
โย ย ย ย ย ย You might get stuck in programming and need help, or some development processes may need to be explained. If it cannot be explained/resolved via chat or video, screen-sharing calls can be scheduled throughout the week.
The team (and our work culture)
Youโll get to be part of a 100% remote company consisting of a diverse group of 95 talented individuals from all over the world. The people you will find on the team are veterinarians, marketers, content writers, editors, social media managers, graphics designers, content managers, and a lot more.
And youโll get to join us on our united mission of improving the lives of pets and those who care for them. We dream big, and our vision is to become the biggest, most helpful pet company in the world.
Youโll get to be part of a company thatโs undergoing hyper-growth, and the fast-paced work environment that comes with it.
And weโve managed to grow at a healthy pace without ever sacrificing our culture and values.
Our company culture is focused on work and collaboration, but also while being open to the casual humor and chatter that makes us get to know each other.
We work hard, and you may have to work on the weekend every now and then if you have a lot on your plate. However, we have a huge understanding of the importance of time off, and we encourage each other to take time off.
A lot of us love traveling, and therefore, we plan on doing yearly company retreats, where we all meet up together and have fun.
We value the freedom of being able to work from anywhere, trust, and collaboration.

Weโre hiring a Senior/Staff Front End Engineer to work on our web applications. These web applications are the way that thousands of creative people around the world find great music and inspiring clips for use in their projects and campaigns.
As part of the Engineering team, your time will be spent collaborating with other front end engineers, back end engineers, product managers and designers to create the best experience for our customers. The ideal candidate loves tinkering with cutting edge technology and has at least 5 years experience building large scale React applications.
The engineering team has a remote-first culture. As such, you will be comfortable working remotely, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to manage your own time. We have a relaxed working environment, great team culture and push for a standard of excellence in everything we do.
There are a lot of challenging and interesting technical problems to solve that directly impact our clients and colleagues. Here are some example projects that we have worked on recently:
Build a custom audio player that includes the ability to track progress, expands to show additional details and allows users to easily explore our artist catalogue.
Enhance the purchase flow with additional payment options, subscriptions, and a seamless checkout.
Help maintain a beautiful custom React component library, including reusable components with tailored functionality and consistent design attributes.
Work on a multi-month greenfield project in Next.js.
Implement a robust CI/CD pipeline.
Weโre after individuals that are curious about the possibility of technology, are eager to learn, and are diligent and kind. Our teams work well because we place trust in them to succeed. We believe in collaboration and that great ideas can come from anybody.
We welcome and encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds.

You will collaborate with your teammates (including other senior engineers) to refine the product roadmap and vision, and guide your team in building out new features.
Define technical direction:ย You will help maintain the standard of engineering excellence at FM and shape the technical vision for our front end engineering stack (React, Next.js, React Native). You will influence best practices and introduce new technologies when appropriate.

A Great Candidate Will Have

Hey there,
Oliver and Vincent here, co-founders of Memex.Garden, and weโre looking for a senior full-stack engineer to join our 3 person team. $7-10k/month salary plus shares in the company.
Memex is a personal & collaborative reader to collect, annotate and discuss websites, PDFs and Youtube videos. By yourself or with your team and community. We're in Beta and you can download it here: memex.garden. This is made for DAOs, commercial and academic research teams, reading clubs and students with the need to collaboratively read and talk about web content, papers, Youtube videos and (soon) images.
Weโre funded with support from Protocol Labs as well as leading people at Protocol Labs, Anaconda, Ceramic & RMRK.
Next, you'll be working on the collaborative curation and annotation workflows and on the sync between Discord and Memex Spaces to automatically extract links and conversations from there.
Youโll be the 3rd person joining our 2-person engineering team and will mainly work on the feature development. Upcoming are improvements to the collaboration experience, image support and the Discord sync.
While we use React, Typescript, Firebase and React Native, weโre not looking for a checklist of technologies. Weโre looking for people who can demonstrate experience and deep knowledge about programming and the surrounding skills to ship projects. (Weโre not open to junior positions at this moment.)
This means the ability to analyze problems, communicate how youโre going to solve them, the trade-offs involved with your approach, converting that into well-written code that your colleagues will have a good time continuing on and transferring knowledge. We value how much certain ideas and technologies fit the problem at hand and the overall architecture of the product, not which technologies are hot at at the moment.
The hurry to get out features and the need to clean up code so we can continue to ship quickly are at constant odds with each other. You can identify whatโs needed to keep us nimble and are good at communicating that to developers and non-developers alike.
Youโre passionate about opportunities you see to make the product and our experience working on our project great and clearly communicate advantages and trade-offs, but you recognize the different perspectives will enhance your ideas, or show that your idea is not the right fit for a particular context.
You value simple code that is easy to understand over smart code that people are afraid to change or costs needless effort to dive into (including for your own sake after youโve forgotten how the cleverness works.)
You can clearly communicate how much autonomy or guidance you need to get things done, but can also concisely keep people who depend on your work up to date and provide them with what they need to get their things done.
Weโre building a platform encouraging the encounter of opposing ideas, and are strong proponents of free speech and care for our fellow humans. So even though we may intensely disagree, we recognize those who we disagree with as people with fundamental rights and human needs. We donโt like to nurture cultures of cancelling, labelling people with all sorts of -isms and one-sided views across the political spectrum. Lets rather look under the hood and be curious about different viewpoints.
Why are we building Memex?
On our own we canโt possibly understand the majority of polarising topics we encounter every day. However, we all search, filter, read and take notes about content online and produce information valuable to other people.
Memex aims to make sharing recommendations and conversations become so easy that we can share what we normally are be too busy to share, build on each othersโ research and easily compare contrary ideas
We think that for a healthy social media environment it needs:
Companies that donโt have such strong profit maximisation incentives that usually lead to extractive business practices like attention/ad-based business models or lock ins
People with the ability to modify their own experience of a newsfeed and notifications
Freedom of speech, but not necessarily freedom of reach
Reduce need for centralised moderation through communal and individual content moderation
The economics behind Memex
We are a Steward Owned organisation in order to prevent profit maximisation incentives that lead to extractive business models and practices, while still giving the company the ability to grow big and fast. To enable that investors and team have a capped return on their investments and company can never be sold. We can get pretty rich if we are doing a good job, but not become billionaires.
We believe there is no collective intelligence without individual intelligence. For individual intelligence to be expressed in a digital space we need to be able to adapt our tools & connect workflows that individually suit our needs. The uncapped investor returns of VC money are the root cause of lock-ins that significantly hinder the emergence of an open knowledge society and collective intelligence that is able to overcome the complex challenges of our time.

Hi there, this is a short term engagement as we prepare a working prototype of a web application for COP27 as a proof of concept. We refer to this as "the tool", "prototype", "rough", "mock up" web user interface.
The tool you make will be some sort of graphic, graph or moving image mocked up with our data and content. We are getting user stories for this currently. We have a xed budget of USD8K to get this done. Probably this is two person weeks at most in time. THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT OR ANNUAL POSITION. We may not use this time contiguously but we need the prototype by mid October (2022) and it needs to be able to be served from our Wordpress site gbpn.org. In fact, this should be a pretty fun innovative little project.
Here is an example of a fully edged production system we made another time, but we are wanting something different and very simple for this project. See old project here:
The prototype will be a map or a graph or a diagram with moving parts. The data are non- state actor commitments or goals for decarbonisation of the built environment. They will be static in this prototype. This means any graphs can be hard coded. The graphic will link to a few pages of static information about a selected country. Or this may be a popup with the static information in it.
The prototype needs to be able to serve French, English and Arabic. Again, this content will be static. Needs to mount on our wordpress site gbpn.org off an orphan URL.
You will interact with us on rening our user stories to something that can be roughed out. This will mean:
Hear and discuss our user needs, which are being rened as we write this
Propose technologies which might be appropriate, for example Figma or whatever
Make roughs, sketches or rapid prototypes we can see
Get feedback on the roughs
Make a stable prototype we can serve at the event that people can play with
Get feedback on the prototype
Feel great getting carbon dioxide out of the built environment!
Here is an agency TOR written for this work for interest.ย It has expired.

When applying for jobs, you should NEVER have to pay to apply. You should also NEVER have to pay to buy equipment which they then pay you back for later. Also never pay for trainings you have to do. Those are scams! NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING! Posts that link to pages with "how to work online" are also scams. Don't use them or pay for them. Also always verify you're actually talking to the company in the job post and not an imposter. A good idea is to check the domain name for the site/email and see if it's the actual company's main domain name. Scams in remote work are rampant, be careful! Read more to avoid scams. When clicking on the button to apply above, you will leave Remote OK and go to the job application page for that company outside this site. Remote OK accepts no liability or responsibility as a consequence of any reliance upon information on there (external sites) or here.

For instance, if a certain Uber job posting is found both on Uber jobs (https://www.uber.com/jobs/list) AND on Indeed.com, the job should only be posted once to Meteor.\nA note on robustness.ย The code should properly handle changes in design, layout or structure on any of the sources. In other words, it should work properly when and if any of the websites above completely change their design. For example, if Airbnb chooses not to break down their jobs by departments but display all of them on one page. Or, otherwise, if Snapchat chooses to have a separate URL for each team. Even minor errors are not acceptable. All the fields should be properly identified.\nA note on scalability. The system should be easily scalable and should handle millions of job postings without any bugs or slowdown in performance.\nIf interested, please, respond with:* Total project cost and following breakdowns:* Project cost if only job boards are used for scraping (corporate job websites are not used)\n* Project cost without tagging\n* Project cost without checking for duplicates (but using both job boards and corporate websites)\n* And other variables that you think are relevant and influence the cost\n\n* Proposed payment terms\n* Proposed timelines and milestones\n* Any other additional information that is needed on our end\n* Examples of relevant previous projects\n\n VERY IMPORTANT: To separate you from the spammers, please write I AM REAL as the first line of your bid. We will delete all bids that do not start with this phrase, since most bidders never read the requirements. Thank you for being one who does.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n
