Our Backend and Data Engineering Team is a four-person team (soon to be six!) and is part of our Engineering & Data Group — a quirky, talented, and humble group of about twenty with diverse backgrounds ranging from journalism to academia to international industry.\n\nAbout Our Backend & Data Engineering Team\n\nThe Backend & Data Engineering Team builds software to collect, analyze, and report data about coffee farmers’ conditions and practices. This large-scale data-collection effort requires many moving parts to work together, and we use technology to support that effort at every step of the process — from identifying coffee farms in satellite imagery, to coordinating survey edits across country teams, to detecting data anomalies in real-time that can be investigated while teams are still in the field. A core part of our work is in data aggregation and report generation, with insights ultimately being shared with roasters and other stakeholders on how to assist in improving the social, economic, and environmental conditions of smallholder farmers. \n\nWhile our tooling varies across internal products, our backend services primarily use a Python/PostgreSQL stack running on Linux to run our GraphQL APIs. We use git and Github for maintaining our code, CircleCI for CI/CD, and AWS for hosting our services and static resources, with containerization where appropriate for development and deployment. We've begun working with Terraform.\n\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\n\nYou will contribute to major feature planning and development, both independently and in collaboration with your teammates.\n\n\n* Implement new features on our core platforms, Jebena and Sini. You’ll participate in long-term planning and product roadmaps, collaborate with product managers on writing specs for the team to implement, and develop features from specs. You should be comfortable collaborating with non-Engineering teams to understand their feature needs. A lion’s share of your time will be spent working with Python and PostgreSQL to add features to our internal platforms.\n\n* Maintenance and enhancements of existing code. You’ll work with other engineers to triage and resolve incoming issues (we use Sentry). This individual's primary responsibility will be to ensure that our ERP and related business systems function as expected and are maintained in a way as to allow optimal business performance. This position will be integral to administering the supply chain, manufacturing, inventory management and accounting processes within our ERP ecosystem. The ERP System Administrator should be comfortable with change management and governance, as well as communicating, prioritizing, and managing all aspects of a large company-wide project. The ideal candidate is comfortable interfacing with stakeholders at all levels, with the ability to translate business requirements into creative system designs that are flexible and scalable, clearly explaining design options and their potential impact. \n\n\n\n\n\nWhat You’ll Do\n* Serve as the primary ERP technical subject matter expert for Supply Chain, Inventory Management, Manufacturing & Accounting\n* Lead complex the end-to-end technical design, development, QA, implementation, and ongoing post-launch operations management to set up our ERP System (Netsuite) to meet the organization’s business requirements (ex. e-commerce)\n* Must be able to take initiative, work with minimal supervision, and collaborate with the team to maintain and enhance a world class ERP application\n* Develop new and maintain existing supply chain, inventory, manufacturing and accounting business workflows\n* Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades\n* Proactively identify gaps within current processes and/or improve existing backend components to make them more efficient and scalable\n* Assist with data migration from legacy systems\n* Create detailed technical documentation for the internal Systems Operations team for newly launched backend components and regularly maintain existing documentation for updates to existing components, as well as assist with end-user training and documentation when needed\n* Collaborate with internal stakeholders from other business units to understand ERP business needs and work together to solve them\n\n\n\n\nQualifications, Skills, & Abilities \n* Strong knowledge of ERP systems with deep understanding of NetSuite\n* Experience setting up a complex Netsuite implementation from the ground up\n* 4-5 years of experience in ERP implementation, management, and 3rd party integrations in complex environments\n* 3+ years experience managing stakeholder expectations across multiple projects with competing priorities\n* Ability to read and understand SuiteScript customizations\n* Creative problem solver, skilled at overcoming obstacles and solutioning around key business problems\n* Proven ability to design and implement new processes within systems and facilitate user adoption\n* Excellent project management skills and skilled cross-functional collaborator\n* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.\n* Netsuite Admin Certification is required\n* Experience with other platforms, such as Salesforce, Shopify, etc. are a plus\n* Experience working in a startup is a plus\n\n\n\n\n\n$104,000 - $169,000 a yearBrightwheel is committed to internal pay equity and offers a competitive compensation package, including base salary, equity, and benefits.
