If you have a passion for clean APIs, have a bias towards shipping and believe that tests are the key to higher velocity and reliability, you'll fit right in.\n\nWe have some exciting challenges ahead including continuing to scale our production architecture, expand the store backend to handle additional package types, and enhance our on-prem offering for IoT and Enterprise solutions.\nWhat youโ€™ll do\n\n\nCollaborate remotely with a globally distributed team.\n\nWrite clean web service APIs to support both CLI and web frontend clients, using Python (and optionally Golang).\n\nDesign and implement new features and enhancements from spec to production and ongoing operations at scale.\n\nReview code and technical designs produced by other engineers.\n\nDiscuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions.\n\nWork remotely with global travel 2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events.\n\n\n\nWho you are\n\n\nYou have demonstrated professional proficiency developing public-facing APIs and web applications using Python.\n\nYou have a broad technology base but favor backend code and infrastructure.\n\nYou know your way around relational and non-relational databases and can effectively design data models that perform well, and tune queries to access them.\n\nYou are comfortable with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.\n\nYou have demonstrated strong academic performance in Computer Science, STEM or similar degree.\n\nYou love technology and working with a diverse set of talented people.\n\nYou are curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable.\n\nYou value soft skills and are passionate, enterprising, thoughtful, and self-motivated.\n\n\n\nAbout Canonical\n\nCanonical is a growing, international software company that works with the open-source community to deliver Ubuntu -- the worldโ€™s #1 cloud operating system. Our mission is to realise the potential of free software in the lives of individuals and organisations. Our services are helping businesses worldwide to reduce costs, improve efficiency and enhance security with Ubuntu.  Canonical is a unique tech company - global, remote-first, open source, with 700 professionals across 50 countries - we want to be the worldโ€™s best, not biggest, global software company. With almost every team remote by default, Canonical sets the pace on the 21st-century digital workplace.\nWhat Canonical offers:\n\n\nWork from home\n\nLearning and development allowances\n\nCompetitive Salary\n\nAnnual compensation review\n\nRecognition rewards\n\nGenerous annual leave\n\nPaid maternity, paternity and sick leave\n\nPriority Pass for travel\n\nExposure to international business and technology\n\n\n\n\nWe are proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination. Join us to help ensure that our background processes run smoothly while we are striving to become the best in the industry.\nAbout the team\nOur infrastructure team is responsible for building and supporting critical systems required for running and accessing NEAR and Aurora networks. That includes everything on the path of RPC requests before they hit the blockchain and block production and event delivery once transactions are executed.\nLoad balancing, caching, queueing, transaction simulation and block production is processed by the services written and maintained by the infrastructure team. \nClearmatics is a protocol engineering company. We are building a new financial market architecture that is more open, fair, and resilient than the legacy systems that are in use today. We develop protocols and software that create new markets for risk and more efficient infrastructure for trading, backed by a robust and scalable blockchain network, and secured with modern cryptographic techniques and economic mechanism design.\n\nClearmatics is based in London but operates on a 'remote first' model. We welcome candidates from all over the world. We have close ties to the Open Source and Ethereum communities, with Vitalik Buterin as an adviser.\n\nThe Engineering team at Clearmatics is responsible for developing our blockchain software at Layer 1 and Layer 2. At the core of our stack is the Autonity client, the node software that powers our blockchain network. It is based on Ethereum (go-ethereum) and is secured by Tendermint Proof-of-Stake consensus. Our decentralised platforms are built on smart contracts and decentralised applications, and are supported by backend services in Go.\n\nWe're looking to hire aย Senior Software Engineerย to expand our Layer 1 Engineering team.\n\nABOUT YOU\n\nAs an experienced backend software engineer with a good knowledge of blockchain protocols, you know what it takes to ship a secure, reliable, and performant blockchain node client. You write clean and maintainable code, and you take the time to promote good software engineering practices. You understand the importance of careful protocol design choices and can anticipate the impact of changes to the code base. You are able to communicate your thoughts clearly in writing and in discussions.\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES\n\n\n* Develop and maintain the blockchain node client (go-ethereum fork) and related protocol smart contracts (Solidity)\n\n* Implement new protocol-level features based on academic papers, technical specifications, and proof of concepts\n\n* Refactor the code base for better maintainability and to meet performance and reliability requirements\n\n* Develop distributed system tests and frameworks to verify the correctness of our protocol and software\n\n* Participate in team and community decision-making about technical design and architecture considerations\n\n* Participate in code reviews and evaluating contributions from the open source community\n\n* Contribute to documenting and educating the community about our protocols and blockchain software\n\n* Address bugs reports or security incidents and engage with users and researchers to understand and resolve them\n\n\n\n\nREQUIREMENTS\n\n\n* At least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) and 5+ years software development experience\n\n* Proficiency in a systems language like Go, Rust, or C++ with a focus on network and concurrent programming (Go is preferred)\n\n* Experience developing and debugging complex data structures, algorithms, and network I/O in a Linux environment\n\n* Development experience on a blockchain node client (preferably Ethereum-like) and familiarity with smart contract programming\n\n* Knowledge of blockchain fundamentals such as distributed consensus, peer-to-peer messaging, cryptography primitives\n\n\n\n\nBONUS POINTS\n\n\n* Knowledge of Ethereum protocols and technologies (e.g. devp2p, EVM, Web3, Solidity) and go-ethereum internals in particular\n\n* Ideally 2+ years solid experience with Go programming and some open source contributions that you can highlight\n\n* Knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals such as fault tolerance, consensus, voting, leader election, failure detection\n\n* Experience designing or implementing Proof of Stake and BFT-style consensus algorithms (e.g. Tendermint)\n\n\n\n\nDon't worry if you don't meet all the requirements. If you are talented and have what it takes, then we'd still like to hear from you.\n\nOur compensation isย blockchain competitiveย and dependent on your skills & experience. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Ethereum, Design, Node, Golang, Engineer, Linux and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $70,000 — $110,000/year\n

Remote Software Engineer Rust

At Spruce, we are reimagining trusted interactions by creating the worldโ€™s best software for packaging beliefs digitally. We are a team of programmers working to develop world-class open source products and libraries implementing open global standards in identity. \nThere are no well-worn paths or theoreticals here. Every Spruce technical staffer gets their hands dirty writing code, learning new technologies, and solving problems at the bleeding edge of our space. We hire results-oriented developers who love technology and are committed to intellectual honesty, user privacy, and innovation.ย \nYou will be responsible for developing cross-platform libraries and server software in Rust. Our software is secure by design, professionally audited, and suitable for high stakes applications. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to emerging global technology standards for digital identity. While we don't require you to have Rust experience to apply for this job, you should demonstrate a strong aptitude for statically typed languages, memory management, and secure programming practices. \nResponsibilities\n\n* Contribute to new and existing Rust codebases, with a focus on high code quality (e.g., tasteful use of traits, code/memory footprint reduction, minimizing dependency trees, refactoring between enums/structs, using macros to reduce copy-paste errors, etc.). \n\n* Utilize best practices for unit tests, integration tests, benchmarking, documentation, version control hygiene, and open source release cycle management.\n\n* Implement low-level systems code that is cross-compiled and performantly ran across platforms, including backend servers, mobile devices, and in the browser through WASM.\n\n* With support and review from cryptographers, use cryptographic APIs to implement digital signatures, message authentication, encryption/decryption, data structures, and zero-knowledge proof protocols for production applications. For this role, you are not expected to know the math, but you will be responsible for correct low-level implementations, "blocking and tackling" such as zeroing memory, preventing timing attacks, writing test vectors, and configuring fuzzers.\n\n* Interface directly with security auditing firms who have experience evaluating implementations that rely on applied cryptography.\n\n\nQualifications\n\n* Excellent written communications skills (necessary for remote work).\n\n* Experience writing widely-distributed backend software in statically-typed languages.\n\n* Aptitude for computer security, correct use of cryptography, and user data privacy.\n\n* Proficiency in backend web frameworks, API design, databases, and scalability.\n\n* Experience setting up or configuring CI/CD pipelines based on containers and cloud services.\n\n* Comfortable with rapid directional changes of focus in a startup environment.\n\n\nBonus\n\n* Experience building distributed storage systems at scale.\n\n* Proficiency with functional programming paradigms and use of advanced type systems found in languages such as Rust, C++, OCaml, or Haskell.\n\n* Contributions to open source software projects and technology standards.\n\n* Full-time experience with working remotely.\n\n* Familiarity with operating system internals, compiler internals, memory management, and low level programming.\n\n* Professional experience in a high stakes industry such as cloud infrastructure, finance, healthcare, social media, or online gaming.\n\n\nWe are passionate about cultivating a thriving culture of diverse individuals who bring unique perspectives to our mission. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Cloud, API, Mobile, Engineer and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $55,000 — $110,000/year\n

If you are talented and have what it takes, then we'd still like to hear from you.\n\nOur compensation isย blockchain competitiveย and dependent on your skills & experience. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Ethereum, Design, Node, Golang, Engineer, Linux and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $60,000 — $110,000/year\n
