Parity Technologies is hiring a
Remote TypeScript Toolkit Engineer Substrate Connect

\nParity Technologies builds core infrastructure for blockchains and Web 3.0 technologies. This means dealing with P2P networking, consensus algorithms, cryptography, databases, and decentralised applications. We strive to write the fastest, lightest, and safest core technology in Blockchain and write lots of open-source code.\n\nAt Parity Technologies, we have built and launched live networks like Kusama and Polkadot atop the Substrate blockchain framework. We want to bring to these networks first-class end-to-end user experiences which tell a story of how easy it is to use these next-generation blockchains. For example, improving how users participate in network staking, how members of our governance systems present and vote on proposals, enabling simple integration of Substrate systems into web pages, improving how new users onboard into our ecosystem, and moreโ€ฆ\n\nIn this role, youโ€™ll help bring to life an open-source TypeScript toolkit to enhance the Substrate / Web 3 developer experience. The aim of this toolkit is to reduce friction in creating efficient interactions with many chains. You will work in a small functional team with two front-end developers, one backend developer, and one designer to create core utilities, pattern libraries, and examples. This will be the basis for a new open source community, of which youโ€™ll be a steward. We will all share the responsibility of triaging issues, engaging with developers, and assessing their needs. This role will surely evolve, and hopefully, youโ€™ll help drive its evolution. There will be many ways to help the toolkit and its users succeed.\n\n \n\nAbout You:\n\n\nYou have experience building both browser and NodeJS applications with TypeScript.\n\nYou think deeply about paradigm-shifting tools, such as React and GraphQL.\n\nWell-designed APIs bring you immense joy.\n\nYou have excellent communication skills.\n\nWriting legible, maintainable code is more important to you than are your stylistic preferences.\n\nTo you, release announcements from the TypeScript team feel like special occasions. Maybe you even follow along with notes from the TypeScript teamโ€™s design meetings.\n\nYou donโ€™t need to be a blockchain expert. Just excited and willing to learn!\n\n\n\n\nResponsibilities:\n\n\nCollaborating with the team on design, roadmap and overall strategy\n\nWriting both low-level and high-level code\n\nModeling chain interactions as type-safe, composable building blocks\n\nDocumenting your creations\n\nIdentifying bugs, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement\n\nActively participating in / supporting a new community in open source\n\n\n\n\nGood to have:\n\n\nLanguage design, compiler, interpreters.\n\nCreating and releasing open source\n\nEffect-oriented programming (ZIO, effect-ts)\n\nKnowledge of Web Assembly\n\n\n\n\n \n\nNot a perfect match to our requirements? We're happy to receive your application anyways and hear how you think you can help us achieve our mission.\n\nTo see how we use your data please see our Applicant Notice.\n \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Design, React, Typescript, Engineer, Backend and Digital Nomad jobs that are similar:\n\n $60,000 — $120,000/year\n \n\n#Location\nWorldwide

LaunchBrightly is hiring a
Remote Backend Engineer

At LaunchBrightly, we are on a mission to automate a process that continually takes on-brand and styled screenshots of all your SaaS product features - on desktop, mobile, dark mode, localized, etc. As you update your product, we automatically update your website, help desk and other public collateral with on-brand, consistently styled images. The continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline and process that engineers adopted over the last decade, is what we ultimately want to build for product marketeers and customer success teams. TLDR; LaunchBrightly = CircleCI for marketing and support. And we are currently looking to bring onboard a Backend Engineer (API and Integrations).ย

Everyone at LaunchBrightly is a creator, an owner, or perhaps better, a celebration of the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. Most big companies are afraid of entrusting the future of the company and their software to a few makers, and as they defend against that, they end up with three layers of managers and a product designed by a committee. We want the opposite. We need the opposite as we enter virgin territory trying to build that CI/CD pipeline and process for marketing and support. As our customer pushes a new feature to production, we automatically update all her feature images across platforms. This is a thrilling adventure!

Our work is remote, not distant. We believe that being a remote-first organization allows us to build an exceptional team composed of makers and sellers with diverse backgrounds and skill sets from around the globe. Our default work culture is asynchronous and emphasizes written communication to prioritize maker time, focus and company productivity. Our goal is not to eliminate face-to-face interaction, but we should default to a setting where written documentation is so strong that a meeting on most project subject matters would seem odd.ย ย

Founded in 2022, and backed by prominent venture firms including IA Ventures and Tuesday Capital, this is a unique opportunity to join this band of misfits on the ground floor. As an early teammate you will be working intimately with the founding team, who has done 0 to 1 five times over while seeing four of them come to an exit.

The Backend Engineer will become an integral member of an initial 5-person team consisting of:

  • Maker #1 (Dennis, Co-founder)

  • Maker #2 (Backend Engineer, to be hired)

  • Maker #3 (Frontend Engineer, to be hired)

  • Seller #1 (Josh, Co-founder)

  • Helper #1 (Vibeke)

However, we are looking not just for an Engineer but, crucially, a teammate we see as integral to LaunchBrightlyโ€™s long-term journey and vital to our success. Someone who is comfortable in the dark and who sees a certain romance, like we do, in embracing the unknowns that come with being on the startup journey. We have a track record of seeing those colleagues who join us on the ground floor of our ventures ride the startup journey to completion (exit) with us, as we grow and become successful together. This is something we take seriously, and something we are extremely proud of!ย

Job Description

You will be responsible for taking the current MVP version of the Screenshotting and Styling API, architecting a more robust backdrop and designing something other programmers will love to use. The initial customer will be our own App, as a calmer start, but we do want to open up the API to more sophisticated customers who would like to control our screenshotting process more intimately themselves. You will extend the initial MVP feature set to include a pool of new functions:ย

  • Functions that allow us to extract more finely-tuned images from pages, with ever more exotic settings (in a very delicate dance with Puppeteer).ย ย

  • Functions that help clean up any page, such as removing or modifying elements. This feature set will evolve and you might even build an internal tool, so a team-member (Helper) can go add and manage this list.ย

  • Functions that enhance our output, whether that be injecting elements or running custom JS on the chromium browser instance, or even manipulating raw images post-extraction. Could be text added to input boxes, or squares and arrows pointing to important things on the image.ย

  • A suite of functionality to allow the customer to Style the output, from simple shadows, to headers, to watermarks, and more.

Our infrastructure is set up and managed using AWS Amplify and we embrace a fully serverless environment, which (to a large degree) removes infrastructure as a task. Sure, youโ€™ll probably do some cloudformation overrides on Amplify, but that should be it until we hire somebody to take this on. You are a backend API engineer first and foremost.

Once an image is extracted, cleaned, enhanced and styled, it is stored on our CDN (AWS Cloudfront) and our customer can use it manually from here. However we are excited to write a set of integrations that allow them to sync images automatically to help desks like Zendesk and Intercom, and as time allows, engineer other integrations as any product feature image in a help desk, should ultimately be something our platform could manage.ย

We are looking for previous experience working with

  • Building APIsย

  • Serverless (Node.js)ย

  • Puppeteer (running chromium on AWS Lambda)

  • Canvas implementations in Node.js for styling and image manipulation in general.ย ย

  • AWS API Gateway

  • AWS Amplify for infrastructure setup

  • DynamoDB

  • GraphQL

What you bring to the table

  • A BS or MS in Computer Science or similar, with software development as a focus

  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in backend developmentย

  • Pride in writing highly readable, thoroughly tested and reliable code that others can easily jump into

  • Strong and precise communication and documentation skills, with a real eagerness to understand and be understood

Tailorbird, Inc. is hiring a
Remote Principal Full Stack Developer

About the Company\n\nTailorbird's vision is to organize any renovation, instantly. Within the multifamily real estate industry, our mission is to earn the trust of owners, contractors, and suppliers to help them move faster, remove risks, and improve outcomes. We're backed by NFX, Bloomberg Beta, Fifth Wall, Moderne Ventures, FJ Labs, and Kleiner Perkins.\n\nWeโ€™re building the โ€œEasy Buttonโ€ for elegant home renovations, using analytics and automation to accelerate acquisition and renovation of large multi-family assets. Our proprietary software extracts deep digital models of interior residential spaces using publicly available data, and we use this data to accurately estimate budgets and identify project risks upfront, thus avoiding costly execution delays and rework costs. We are currently in hyper-growth mode and proud to have some of the largest and most reputable owners, contractors, and suppliers as our customers in the US!\n\nWeโ€™re a global organization with distributed teams in the US, Latin America and India, and our HQ is located on the campus of Princeton University in Princeton, NJ.\nAbout the Role\n\nYou will be our principal full-stack developer for Tailorbird web and mobile applications.  You will be a senior leader working across scrum teams and responsible for designing and implementing new component and services. You will be a player-coach with a track record of recruiting and building high performance feature teams. This is the most senior technical role in our organization. You will closely work with a talented team of other senior developers and the chief architect to build highly responsive web and mobile applications. As an early hire in a fast-growing startup, you will have a tremendous opportunity to grow as a leader, responsible for both product delivery and organizational growth. Our tech stack consists of ReactJS and NodeJS with MongoDB and PostgreSQL  as storage.  We also use Python for data-intensive server side services. \nThis role is remote in India.\nYouโ€™ll Get To\n\n\n* Architect and design new components and services for the Tailorbird Platform\n\n* Develop end2end  application logic using React.js, Node.js with Typescript or Python\n\n* Closely work with product managers, business operation associates, senior developers, and the chief architect to influence product engineering decisions\n\n* Closely work with key business leaders to understand product roadmaps and continuously evaluate Tailorbird design choices\n\n\n\nWeโ€™re Looking For\n\n\n* 6+ years of full stack web and mobile application development experience, with at least 3 years as a player-coach responsible for direct hiring and growing the team.\n\n* BS/MS from a tier-1 college or university with CS/CES/EE as a major is highly desired.\n\n* Proven track record of referenceable, successful mentees.\n\n* Experience building enterprise class applications on AWS cloud infrastructure.\n\n* Demonstrable ability to quickly master new frameworks.\n\n* Excellent soft skills - you are a naturally charismatic, thoughtful communicator who is practiced in influencing others and obtaining stakeholder buy-in.\n\n\n\nWhy Tailorbird \n\nOur Founders are experienced entrepreneurs and Fortune 100 executives with proven operating experience to launch and scale new ventures, and a history of successful company exits. We have deep domain expertise in at-scale SaaS platforms, Deep Learning and Analytics, Construction Operations, Commercial Real Estate Acquisitions, and Renovation Design and Architecture. \n\nMost importantly, we know that Tailorbirdโ€™s people are what make our product exceptional. When we approach a problem or create a solution, we rely on our values to guide us.\n\n\nNoble Intent โ€“ We assume everyone has good intentions. We build trust by doing what we say, and saying what we do. \n\nLevel of Excellence โ€“ Building technology and process to drive the fastest operational edge that redefines expectations.\n\nTeamwork โ€“ We collaborate, mentor, and facilitate transparent decision making. Once made, decisions are supported.\n\nTrust โ€“ To earn, and keep, the trust of every stakeholder whereby information is shared transparently for faster and fairer decisions.\n\nDiversity โ€“ Going to any extent to enrich ourselves through expertise, critical thinking, and global perspectives.\n\n\n\n\nReasons to consider not taking this role at Tailorbird:\n\nPlease note: We value transparency and we intend to set expectations accurately. Working at Tailorbird is a thrilling journey and we want to ensure this is a fit for both you and our team.\n\n\n* Typically, early-stage startup teams work based on goals, not time sheets. This is not a "clock in, clock out" type of environment. You are expected to balance the freedom of flexible working hours with the responsibility of delivering on time and excellent work.\n\n* Startup environments will undoubtedly test your tolerance for ambiguity. We don't always have the answer. Sometimes, you'll be given a high-level objective and you will need to devise a plan to execute on time.\n\n* Building a product requires inner calm and motivation: the ability to not grow frustrated if a process changes or a mistake is made is critical for success. \n\n\n\nBenefit & Perks\n\n\nOpportunity for equity in an early-stage, venture-backed company.\n\nOpen PTO policy\n\nCompany-paid medical/dental/vision insurance for employees and dependents.\n\n\n\nTailorbird is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing all employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
