This foundation will usher in a wave of innovation in data processing that can take full advantage of the speed and efficiency offered by modern hardware. \n\n* We are Committed to Bridging Open Source Communities: We are a collection of open source maintainers who have been driving open source ecosystems over the last 15 years, particularly in the C++, Python, and R programming ecosystems. \n\n* We are Building a Diverse, Inclusive Company: We are creating a representative, equitable, and respectful workplace that prioritizes employee growth. Edge & Node is hiring a
Remote Partnerships

\nEdge & Node stands as the revolutionary vanguard of web3, a vision of a world powered by individual autonomy, shared self-sovereignty and limitless collaboration. Established by trailblazers behind The Graph, weโ€™re on a mission to make The Graph the internetโ€™s unbreakable foundation of open data. Edge & Node invented and standardized subgraphs across the industry, solidifying The Graph as the definitive way to organize and access blockchain data. Utilizing a deep expertise in developing open-source software, tooling, and protocols, we empower builders and entrepreneurs to bring unstoppable applications to life with revolutionary digital infrastructure.\n\nEdge & Node acts on a set of unwavering principles that guide our journey in shaping the future. We champion a decentralized internetโ€”free from concentrated powerโ€”where collective consensus aligns what is accepted as truth, rather than authoritative dictation. Our commitment to censorship resistance reinforces our vision of an unyielding information age free from the grasp of a single entity. By building for open-source, we challenge the stagnant landscape of web2, recognizing that true innovation thrives in transparency and collaboration. We imagine a permissionless future where the shackles imposed by central gatekeepers are not only removed, but relegated to the dustbin of a bygone era. And at the foundation of it all, our trust shifts from malevolent middlemen to trustless systems, leveraging smart contracts to eliminate the age-old vulnerabilities of misplaced trust.\n\nThe Business team is a highly-focused group of web3 pioneers pushing the industry to greater heights while onboarding the next billion web3 users. Supporting a global ecosystem (and having a blast doing it), we develop and execute on business strategy, create communications, manage partnerships and support participants of The Graph Network. Ensuring a healthy, happy ecosystem while fostering meaningful relationships with the community is as essential as to us our morning matcha lattes. The business team comprises Business Development, Partnerships, Solutions Engineering, Marketing, Brand Building, GRT Relations, and Finance/ GRT Relations. \n\nWe are looking for a motivated self-starter and driven individual who can thrive in a dynamic and sometimes undefined environment, and who doesnโ€™t mind reaching out and getting to know people/projects that he/she has never met. A person that is passionate about Web3 and familiar with The Graph. Someone who is committed to using business expertise to support business growth, ensure an excellent experience for users of The Graph, and being okay with not getting a yes the first time...and not giving up. OpenPhone is hiring a
Remote Backend Engineer

\nAs a Backend Engineer at OpenPhone, you will spend most of your time building moderate components in a team environment. \n\nAbout the Role:\n\n\n* The engineering team comprises five engineering squads with frontend and backend engineers, a product manager, a designer, and QA. \n\n* Our engineering teams work in two-week cycles, communicate mainly via Slack, and are committed to remote, agile development. When ready, youโ€™ll create and send a pull request with tests and tag your team for review. We have invested heavily in local Docker development and cloud-based continuous integration and delivery so you can get set up fast. Your development branch can be easily tested on environments that closely match production. \n\n* Youโ€™ll work autonomously for the most part, and we trust you to get work done when/where you can be productive.\n\n* Youโ€™ll work with other engineers to maintain and improve standards and best practices.   \n\n\n\n\nTechnical Stack and Tools: \n\n\n* Our backend is built on Node using Typescript.\n\n* We use Kubernetes on AWS to orchestrate our infrastructure setup and deployment.\n\n* The overall architecture is event-driven microservices with RabbitMQ at the center of it.\n\n* We use a variety of databases for different purposes: Postgres, Mongo, Elastic, and Redis.\n\n* Communication Tools: Linear and Slack\n\n\n\n\nAbout you:\n\n\n* You likely have 3+ years of experience and are looking for a position where you can make a large impact.\n\n* Experience with object-oriented languages like Java or C# and Typescript/Node.\n\n* You take ownership of your work and understand the importance of communication.\n\n* Attention to detail is essential to you, and you take pride in your work. \n\n* You are intentional about how your work impacts customers, the community, and each other. You practice empathy and generosity.\n\n* You are curious. You support your teammates and customers through the continuous pursuit of knowledge. Youโ€™re a lifelong learner. \n\n* Your code is a pleasure for your teammates to read and understand. When working in the codebase, you leave things better than you found.\n\n* Experience with relational databases and non-relational databases.\n\n* Passionate about writing tests.\n\n* Bonus experience: \n\n\n\n* System architecture design\n\n* Messaging systems such as RabbitMQ\n\n* Elastic\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEngineering Team Culture:\n\nOur team is curious, ambitious, and dedicated to their crafts. We're a high-trust team with a strong bias for action.\n\nWe follow a two week sprint agile process. Our stand-ups are done asynchronously over Slack, minimal synced sprint check-ins, and weekly Engineering Demos. Linear is also used for tracking projects, tickets, and to assign tasks.\n\nEngineers are expected to have testing coverage for every piece of code you write in the form of integration tests, unit tests, and we bake this into the CI/CD process.\n\nIf you're looking for a place to do your life's work, get in touch. We'd love to hear from you!\n\nWe are committed to creating an inclusive workplace that values diversity. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. \n\n#Salary and compensation\n No salary data published by company so we estimated salary based on similar jobs related to Rabbitmq, Docker, Testing, Java, Node, Engineer and Backend jobs that are similar:\n\n $55,000 — $110,000/year\n

Greetings to you!ย You have stumbled into the right place stranger. Heed these words carefully, and we shall see if you have what it takes to brave the Road of Application. Skip the details below at your own peril, adventurer.

This is your chance to work with the next generation web-based simulation game for business courses in higher education (mouthful)!ย ย

For a decade we have toiled alone, and finally the time to expand has come. A position has opened up in our exclusive developer ensemble, just for you! As the third musketeer, youโ€™ll be adding a whopping 50% coding power to our capacity of 2, which entails both great power and great responsibility. We hope you genuinely enjoy delivering awesome solutions and iterating on them, with strong ownership over features, in collaboration with fantastic co-workers (promise), because thatโ€™s what youโ€™ll do here.ย

While we are a small dev team, we have good backing from the product team and a wider ecosystem of experts in everything from accessibility to security and design at Sage (our parent company), as well as strong support and sales teams. Down the road we will also continue to expand the dev team.ย

Our stack is React + Meteor/Node, (mostly) all Typescript, running on AWS, with Cypress tests. Weโ€™re Linux people, but you can be of a different persuasion if you have a good argument for it. We are pragmatic when it comes to development, meaning we want the minimum viable process that everyone is happy with, without needing to label it strictly. Letโ€™s dispense with the buzzwords and do good, reliable work.ย

ย

Responsibilitiesย

  • Full stack development on the simulation platform, in feature / simulation development and bug fixing. Weโ€™ll see what areas you like and have you work on that. Examples include:ย

  • New business simulations in related fieldsย

  • Existing game features and balanceย

  • Exercise and event framework to enhance learning and engagementย

  • Back end to improve performance and stabilityย

  • Integrations to learning management systems or the sales teamย

  • Write end-to-end tests for features you make, and unit-tests where they are necessary.ย

  • 3rd level technical support when one of us has done something terribly wrong.ย

  • Review PRs from the team, to keep us in lineย

ย

Qualificationsย

  • 5+ years background in programmingย

  • Strong working knowledge of Node/JS/TS/Meteor/React, but a quick study can make up the difference if you know other, related technologies/frameworks.ย

  • Strong interest in, or knowledge of, business/finance/marketing subjects? Youโ€™re on our shortlist.ย

  • Loves working collaboratively, receiving and giving constructive feedback.ย

  • Nerdย

  • A degree in computer science or equivalent is not necessary, but nice of course.ย ย

  • Works and thinks independently but communicates and asks when problems and questions arise.ย ย

  • Sees the business and customer value in the work you do.ย ย

  • Sense of humor, at least 15 years of experience with this.ย

  • Reads this carefully and painstakingly crafted job description and provides a relevant cover letter that demonstrates this.ย

Benefits and Perks for employees

  • Free accounting books! Hoorayย

  • Remote! With the option of going to the office if you live close to one of our officesย

  • Julebord in Norway once a year (look it up!)ย

  • 25 days holiday excluding bank holidays full-time/pro-rated for part-time rolesย

  • 2 additional โ€™floating daysโ€™ of personal leave, in recognition that each of us has cultural, religious, or family commitments that fall at times when the company is not closed.ย

  • Life assuranceย

  • Pensionย

  • Income protectionย

  • Tuition scheme and support for pursuing professional qualificationsย

  • Home working allowanceย

  • Travel Insuranceย

  • Healthy lifestyle reimbursementย

  • Access to the company doctor (UK)ย

  • Access to Company loans (season ticket loan, rental deposit loan, cycle loan)ย

What is LoanCrate?

We started LoanCrate to make home-buying simpler and less expensive for lenders and borrowers (us!). Today, mortgage lenders are stuck running their companies on software products built 20 years ago. These products are slow and unstable, and end up costing lenders millions of dollars in other otherwise preventable mistakes every year. LoanCrate solves those problems and more, helping lenders improve the home-buying experience for people all over the country.

Since starting in January 2021, our remote team has raised $9m, grown to 15 people, and launched our first product. And since adopting LoanCrate in June '21, our customers have used LoanCrate to power >$50 billion in new home loans. As a company, we're on track to be cash-flow positive in 2023.

Our team is a group of people excited to tackle the complexity of the home-lending industry. We care about collaboration, very open communication covering the good & the bad so that we learn from our decisions quickly, and ultimately having fun while we're building. You'll fit in well if you like diving deep quickly!

The opportunity

Our dreams are big and we have much to build! We're looking for senior software engineers to help lead our team in powering the future of home buying in the US (which could entail managing a majority of US home loans every year โ€” financial assets worth trillions of dollars).

We are excited to offer competitive salary and equity for this role.

What to expect

As an engineer at LoanCrate, you'll continue our team tradition by shipping code to production on your first day! Following that, within your first month, you'll dive into your first mission-critical project, such as...

๐Ÿ™ˆ Architecting, building, and launching v2 of our no-code platform that our customers use to digitize their ops workflows and save millions of dollars per year.

๐Ÿค Integrating with 3rd-party providers of lending services APIs to generate documents/disclosures, produce automated underwriting results, or prevent fraud.

๐Ÿ— Architecting, building, and launching the next generation of our job processing infrastructure on AWS to make LoanCrate's back end more observable and reliable.

Tech stack

Nearly all of our code is written in TypeScript. We use React on the frontend, Node/Express on the backend (running inside Docker), GraphQL/Apollo on both sides, and Postgres as our database. We use AWS (ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, SNS, and more) and manage all of our infrastructure with Terraform.

We believe that high engineering velocity drives high product velocity (and, in turn, our success as a company ๐Ÿ˜„). Keeping this in mind, we've invested heavily in creating a great developer experience that enables engineers to ship fast. Some highlights of our stack:

โ†”๏ธ End-to-End Type Safety - We generate TypeScript types from our Postgres and GraphQL schemas so that when we change our database schema we see type errors in any incompatible frontend React components.

๐ŸŒŽ Full-Stack Code Sharing - Our build tooling supports seamless sharing of TypeScript files between the client, server, and other packages in our mono-repo so that we never have to define functions or configuration values twice.

๐Ÿ  Reproducible Infrastructure - Weโ€™ve used Terraform to manage 100% of our infrastructure since day 1 and have configured our CI pipeline to automatically deploy temporary staging environments for every pull request. We use these per-PR environments to get feedback from teammates and test any infrastructure changes using infrastructure that's identical to production.

๐Ÿงช First Class Testing Utilities - We have a comprehensive library of utilities that mock production-like data and feed automated end-to-end, integration, and performance tests. Our wide-ranging test suite allows us to move fast while maintaining nearly perfect uptime.

Preferred skills and background
(It's okay not to have all of these things - these are just some skills we are excited about!)

๐Ÿ”’ A constant and keen eye for security risks โ€” we store and display some of people's most sensitive personal data and need to keep it safe!

๐ŸŽจ A desire to be product-oriented, from thinking through the product implications of what you're building to contributing your unique ideas of how to improve the product.

๐Ÿ™๏ธ Ability to develop readable, maintainable, and effective software architecture patterns that support use of our product by various enterprise customers (each with thousands of employees and their own methods for running their companies).

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿซ Excitement to mentor less senior engineers in both hard and soft skills.

๐Ÿšˆ SRE-oriented mindset for developing infrastructure that's reliable, observable, and requires minimal toil to maintain.

๐ŸŒฉ๏ธ Experience scaling high-throughput distributed systems in the cloud. Bonus points if you're experienced with infrastructure-as-code solutions like Terraform or CloudFormation!

๐Ÿ”ง Ability to develop full-stack web app features from design through deployment.

๐Ÿ›ข๏ธ Experience designing and scaling complex relational DB schemas, as well as figuring out performant ways to store, retrieve, and update such data. Home loans have thousands of data fields ๐Ÿ™ƒ.

FluentU is an education company (started in 2011) that helps people learn languages with real-world videos like movie trailers and music videos. We have a website and a popular mobile app. Weโ€™re a profitable, stable company with a long-term focus โ€“ proudly self-funded. Many people know us through our blog, which is visited ~4 million times every month.

What is this job about?

This job is about Special Projects. You will be working on new apps. You wonโ€™t be working with the main dev team that builds our product.

Instead, youโ€™ll be working directly with the founder (https://www.linkedin.com/in/alancpark/) and a small development team on special projects. Our first new app idea helps people learn languages through immersive first-person virtual experiences (with video footage) and speech recognition. For example, instead of making you do quizzes to learn vocabulary for a business meeting, we put you in a business meeting and make you start talking.

How we work
- Weโ€™re a 100% distributed/remote team and always have been.
- Most of our communication is text-based (mostly Asana) and we have a low-stress environment.
- You have flexibility about when you work, and we work asynchronously.
- We also have a flat, collaborative environment.
- We make decisions based on logic/reason. We prioritize communicating clearly.

We try to be a great company to work for - see our 4.95 / 5 rating on Upwork (400+ reviews): https://www.upwork.com/jobs/~016ebf78f5a6f92311.ย

Weโ€™re looking for an engineer who:
- is fluent in English
- has 4+ years of software development experience
- has strong front-end and back-end skills with React Native
- has 3+ years of experience with React.js
- 2+ years of experience with Node.js and Typescript
- has experience building great mobile apps
- writes clean, high-quality, well-documented code (and uses Typescript)
- can work 30+ hours per week on a regular basis
- is interested in a long term, dedicated collaboration
- can balance quality with speed
- no agencies please

If youโ€™re interested, please reply with:
- work samples (including code samples)
- your availability

What to expect:
- Initial Written Screening Questions
- Technical Interview (Zoom Call)
- Fully Paid 10 hour Trial Project
- Post Project Written Questions

What surprises people after they start working at our company?
"what surprised me was the almost perfectly organized working processes and communication and how constantly and smoothly they are being improved"
- Virtual assistant who has worked at our company for 10+ years

"When I joined FluentU, I was not at all aware or thought of the way the team is working, the way you have prepared to collaborate remotely. I am really amazed to see how a full remote team is able to effectively collaborate and work in an efficient manner that not even offline team would be able to deliver or manage.

In the beginning, I felt like it's all very formal way to do which I don't like but right now I can say, this is the best way a remote team or team from different part of the world can accommodate and work together. I've to say, I'm literally getting close to and loving to work in this environment."
- Developer

"I liked collaborating with a great team made up of kind and talented people from all over the world. I appreciated being trusted to work autonomously and being given the chance to take on new projects and leadership roles. I also liked getting feedback, both in terms of recognition for what I had done well and guidance on how I could improve. I feel like I learned a lot and was continuously developing my skills. The flexibility to meet the required hours according to my own schedule and 100% written communication was also a plus."
- Editor

"I liked working with a very collaborative, communicative, and global team. I feel like I made friends working with FluentU, even though weโ€™ve never met each other in person. I also like the variety of work I got to take on as an editor and all the interesting projects and research we did together as a team."
