\nBackground\n\nIn today's world, many blockchain projects are worth billions of dollars based on hype and speculation. Hedera Hashgraph is rooted in a true technological evolution that is disrupting the market.\n\nThe company, with its distributed public ledger, has two clear differentiators:\n\n* Its superior technology\n\n* A governing council\n\n\n\nThe Technology: The Hedera Hashgraph platform provides a new form of distributed consensus; a way for people who don't know or trust each other to securely collaborate and transact online without the need for a trusted intermediary. The platform is lightning fast, secure, and fair, and, unlike some blockchain-based platforms, doesnโt require compute-heavy proof-of-work. Hedera enables and empowers developers to build an entirely new class of distributed applications never before possible. The Hashgraph platform deployed today can process 10,000 transactions per second. By comparison, Bitcoin is limited to 7 transactions per second, and Ethereum can process fewer than 15.\n\nThe Governing Council: The Hedera Hashgraph Council is the governing body of the Hedera Hashgraph network. The council will ultimately consist of up to 39 leading organizations and enterprises in their respective fields. Its membership will reflect a range of industries and geographies, including highly respected brands and trusted market leaders, to encourage a wide variety of perspectives. The Governing Members will elect the Governing Board and also contribute expertise through subcommittee membership. Hederaโs governance terms ensure no single member will have control, and no small group of members will have undue influence over the body as a whole.\n\nOpportunity for Impact\n\nWith the recent vote by the Governing Council to further decentralize our network and operations, Hedera is establishing its operating structure and processes in the wake of the transition. Hedera is looking for a Chief of Staff to lead the Program Management Office (PMO) and serve as the lead for operational tasks and initiatives in support of the company, the Governing Council, and the Board of Directors. The incumbent will have the opportunity to be a part of the building of a decentralized organization. The Chief of Staff will run the PMO, with outsourced resources and close coordination with the organizationโs Officers and the Chair of the Governing Council, to manage all operations and strategic efforts. The incumbent should be extremely well organized, proficient in project management, and able to bridge strategic thinking with execution.\n\nAbout the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer role\n\nAs Hederaโs Chief Risk & Compliance Officer (CRCO), you will lead and execute a global risk management strategy for the organization. You have a strong and diverse finance and technology background and can cover a wide spectrum of tasks and responsibilities from developing and governing foundational policies to taking a โhands-onโ role to design and implement appropriate controls.\n\nThe CRCO is expected to identify, assess, respond to, and communicate risks pertaining to Hederaโs ecosystem and operations. You will play a key leadership role in Hederaโs ongoing collaboration with Hederaโs Council members. You will collaborate with Hedera Officers to determine, mitigate, and manage risks. The CRCO is appointed by the Board of Directors and reports to the Chair.\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n* Lead risk management assessments and planning across all categories, including financial, security, technological, and regulatory compliance risks.\n\n* Aggregate legal, financial, business development, and other strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for the company to inform holistic enterprise risk management and strategic planning.\n\n* Collaborate with department leads to produce ongoing risk assessments that track regulatory developments, network developments, financial risks, changes to the competitive landscape, and mitigation efforts. Develop and maintain a consolidated set of key risk indicators (KRIs) across each function of the organization and ecosystem.\n\n* Conduct independent evaluations, tests, and reviews of our policies and procedures and be responsible for leading initiatives to mature Hederaโs Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) programs.\n\n* Ensure coordination with information security and regulatory compliance operations and staff as appropriate.\n\n* Advise the Board and Council on priorities to efficiently mitigate risks to the network and/or its use cases.\n\n* Identify gaps in the Council's strategic plan and introduce new external strategic partners or internal strategic workstreams.\n\n* Conduct monitoring and testing on company and network risk controls for the purpose of identifying gaps or weaknesses.\n\n* Monitoring GRC controls, accounting for the distributed nature of Hederaโs operations.\n\n* Reporting on Hederaโs risk posture to staff, Hederaโs Council and Board and other stakeholders as may be required by the Board or the Chair from time to time.\n\n\n\n\nSkills/Qualities Needed\n\n\n* Experience leading global risk efforts\n\n* Demonstrated technical knowledge and expertise covering a variety of risk types\n\n* A deep understanding of risk management frameworks\n\n* Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to explain complex concepts\n\n* Ability to communicate at varying seniority levels, including Senior Management and the Board\n\n* Proven track record of delivering enhancements to process efficiency\n\n* Knowledge of financial services industry and regulatory landscape\n\n* Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.\n\n\n\n\nNice to Haves\n\n\n* Interest in and knowledge about web3/blockchain/crypto/metaverse\n\n* A growth mindset and an overall positive attitude\n\n* Ability to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment\n\n* Strong drive and proactivity to continuously strengthen the risk management\n\n* Strong political acumen\n\n\n\n\nEducation and Experience: Bachelorโs degree with 10+ years of relevant risk experience \n\n#Salary and compensation\n

Hedera enables and empowers developers to build an entirely new class of distributed applications never before possible. The Hashgraph platform deployed today can process 10,000 transactions per second. By comparison, Bitcoin is limited to 7 transactions per second, and Ethereum can process fewer than 15.\n\nThe Governing Council - The Hedera Hashgraph Council is the governing body of the Hedera Hashgraph network. Hederaโs governance terms ensure no single member will have control, and no small group of members will have undue influence over the body as a whole.\n\nRole and Responsibilities\n\nPrimary responsibilities include the operation of regulatory compliance programs to ensure company compliance with applicable regulations, and the application of internal controls consistent with industry best practices and company values to ensure ethical company conduct, e.g.:\n\n\n* Conduct due diligence on the Councilโs direct counterparties, such as purchasers and grant recipients\n\n* Ensure the proper reporting of any regulated sales contracts, such as CFTC-regulated swap contracts\n\n* Manage the Market Integrity Program, which includes enforcement of insider trading rules\n\n* Ensure treasury management activities are timely reported to the marketplace, including allocations of hbars controlled by the Council and the distributions of hbars to the public\n\n* Manage conflicts-of-interest and anti-bribery policies, such as the Related Party Transactions policy\n\n\n\n\n\nSecondary contributions may include the facilitation of network participantsโ compliance with global regulatory requirements to enable compliant development on the network, and the promotion of industry best practices and company values to network participants to foster a safe and productive ecosystem, e.g.:\n\n\n* Monitor the development and adoption of Travel Rule technical standards to ensure the Hedera network meets the regulatory compliance needs of VASPs\n\n* Support the adoption of decentralized identity standards on the Hedera network\n\n* Ensure popular compliance tools (e.g., Chainalaysis, CipherTrace, TRM Labs) are fully integrated with the Hedera network\n\n* Adopt and promote industry-developed principles that safeguard the rights of network users, e.g., the World Economic Forumโs Presidio Principles\n\n* Publish resources that direct ecosystem developers to consumer protection best practices and guidance\n\n\n\n\nQualification Requirements\n\n\n* Authorization to work in the United States and fluency in English required\n\n* BA/BS degree or international equivalent\n\n* 2-3+ years of relevant work experience within the financial services, law enforcement, digital asset and/or management consulting space focusing on financial crime and/or compliance\n\n* Understanding and knowledge of regulatory expectations and industry standards in relation to AML/BSA/Sanctions regulations\n\n* Comfort in a technology-forward company and facility with computer and web-based applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, case management systems, and web-based databases\n\n* Intermediate-level expertise in Microsoft Excel\n\n* Familiarity with blockchain tracing/analytics tools such as Chainalysis or TRM Labs\n\n* Substantial writing skills and ability to articulate effectively to senior management\n\n* Adaptability to an ever-changing environment and the capability to articulate thorough analysis to stakeholders\n\n\n\n\nOptional but beneficial\n\n\n* Advanced degree/certifications, e.g., CAMS, CFE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n#Location\nWorldwide
