My name is Rui Valdemar, Portuguese but with a strong European love. I believe in a growing European network and in a crescent European vision about our companies networking and growing.
I love to learn something new every day, of any area of knowledge. I believe that one day the most not related subject can be the key solution about a particular problem. This passion about learning has driven me to expand my central area of studies – music - to Leadership, Human Resources Management, Workplace Safety and Project Management.
In the last times I’ve invested more and more in certifications as Strategic Human Resources Administration, Scrum Methods and Agile Philosophy, and also in Key Performance Indicators. Currently I’m applying to a Post-Graduation on Human Resources Administration – Lusofona University.
I’ll tell a little more about my experience and background but, for now, let me talk about myself and my personality.
I’m very focused and I give myself completely in each project. I value a lot my profession and each time I take a new project it’s a full compromise. I’m flexible but – perhaps because of my military past – I’m goal focused and a deadline is sacred for me. Better, the trust that the client, coworkers and the company put on me is a compromise that I always need to assure. I’m also client focused and assume that the failure of the company is my failure and vice-versa. Of course my failure is also the failure of the company and a good work performed by me is benefic for the company, for all.
In my work as a freelancer I respect and adapt myself to each company and they core values. For me, they are the guideline to ethics and behavior. When working in a full time position the level stand-up a bit, it’s like “Divine Law”.
I like to think outside the box, be curious and innovative. One of the main reasons I’m always learning is that a some point I can test what I’ve learned I explore some new possibilities. Sometimes of these possibilities arise new projects and I love new projects and archive them big.
I’m: Respectful, Hard-Worker, Communicative, Honest, Delivery-driven and persistent.
To conclude, a little more on my professional past:
I’ve specialized myself in music composition, culture related jobs and project managing with team coordination expertise. I’ve also courses in KPI, Scrum and Agile philosophy and Workplace Safety and Health, also I’m very versatile with platforms like Asana, Trello, ZenHub, etc. I’m finishing some courses in Strategic Human Resources Management – Stellenbosch University - Data analysis and Responsible Innovation: Human Resources and Project Management by Google Certification. Because of my experience in the Portuguese Army and as part of the Course Curriculum of Music I’ve some IT literacy: C - programming language – network and signal.
In the past years I’ve organized several cultural and social projects, managed teams and reinforce my formation in project management. Some projects – like Macedo Music Festival, Sacred Music Season in Miranda, Graça’s Concerts season and St. Roch’s music programming season – are important projects in the main areas of development and require a strong leadership and wide-range vision. I’ve worked in two startups – MyOwnCheff, won the 2nd prize in regional qualification on entrepreneurship – and Touch-To-Clean/Wipe developing two MVP with the team.
I’ve won a 3rd Prize from Warren County School of Music, Philadelphia, USA, a second place in the Regional of “Poliempreende” a contest for ideas and startups. I’ve also been awarded with a Certification of Appreciation by the Ministry of Defense/Land Componente Commande/Mech Bde for outstanding duties in my army carrer.
I’ve started my academic degree in Musical Sciences at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA-FCSH) and in Composition at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, from which I graduated. After my graduation I’ve joined the Portuguese Army, starting my career at the Escola das Armas, obtaining the rank of Second Lieutenant. I’ve held, among others, the position of Deputy Officer for Communication and Information Systems in the General Command of the Mechanized Brigade. I’ve also been Platoon’s commander, and Company commander on replacement, twice instructor in the General Training Course for Army Soldiers, there I’ve gained lot of experience in training new collaborators and evaluate performance – It’s like a big recruitment process during the first five weeks. I’ve also started a graduation in Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior at the Instituto Politécnico de Tomar.
I developed several volunteer projects, either as a volunteer or as a coordinator, highlighting the areas of occupational therapy, support for the homeless and animals. I was a volunteer firefighter for a period of about eight years. I chaired Reanimarte – Cultural Association with which I promoted two editions of the Macedo Music Festival of which I was artistic director.
I perform the duties of Director of the Sacred Music Service of the Church of São Roque, with which I developed projects to value non-canonical music, social projects and to combat isolation, managing a team and act as Human Resource Manager: processing salaries, resolve team issues, etc. I was artistic director of the Graça Concerts Cycle.
. At the moment I am also organizing the International Summit of Sacred Music - www.cims2022.pt , in partnership with the Municipality, the diocese and other European partners. I also manage the Casa da Música Mirandesa, an entity that promotes cultural events.

I speak Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and a little of Dutch. Currently I’m actively learning Swedish and German.
