CAREER PROFILE
Collins Osagie Omokaro has a BSc. (Hon) Agricultural Economics & Extension Services from the University of Benin, Nigeria and an Executive MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology, Washington, D.C., USA.
Besides his undergraduate education, he has executive and business education courses from leading business schools such as Harvard Business School, London School of Finance & Business and the Lagos Business School.
He is also a Certified Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment UK, Chartered Stockbroker from the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, a Certified Management Consultant from the Institute of Management Consultants, and a Certified Capital Market Operator from the Capital Market Institute Lagos, Nigeria.
As a certified Finance and Management Consultant, Collins has extensive experience designing and executing multi-billion-naira strategies within the Agriculture, Financial Services, and International Trade and Investment sphere.
Leading cross-functional teams, he demonstrates the ability to lead multiple projects and manage multiple senior stakeholders with divergent agendas. These have included Public-Private Partnerships within a regulatory framework, executive government, commercial businesses, and regulatory stakeholders.
Using complex socio-economic market research, Colins spearheads Investment and Trade initiatives that promote economic growth, job creation, and poverty alleviation in line with United Nation Sustainable Development Goals. ย
Currently working as a Special Assistant to the Honorable Minister for Industry, Trade, and Investment; Collins manages a diverse portfolio of initiatives using corporate strategy and public policy framework to support the growth of MSMEs, accelerate investment in the Nigerian economy, facilitating trade promotion, and establishing 21st century trade/free trade agreements.
As an integral member of the technical committee, he was inaugurated by the Honourable Minister to support the implementation of an approved $79millionPresidential Intervention project and manage the expectations of executive stakeholders, and C-level government officials to ensure the projectsโ sustainability and promote collaborative engagements.
He also drive the implementation of the key participation requirements for Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) which has a combined GDP of $3.4trillion and a consumer size of 1.2billion people.
Prior to this position, Collins worked for Greenwich Merchant Bank in various capacities before he was promoted to as the Group Executive of Strategy and Research. Joining the organisation as a Regional Business Relationship Manager, Collins managed complex projects from strategy definition & concept development in Ondo and Ekiti State.
Due to his impeccable performance, he was promoted, and his portfolio was expanded to manage Lagos, Abuja, and Rivers state in addition to Ondo and Ekiti state.
As the Regional Business Strategy Executive, Collins led the documentation process for a N25 billion Fixed Rate Debt Issuance process for Ekiti State and managed a combined portfolio of over 3000 clients across the various locations including the Ondo and Ekiti State Government portfolios, the Catholic and Anglican Diocese Central portfolio, and leading corporations in the private sector.
Reporting to the Group Managing Director as the Group Executive of Strategy, Collins oversees the development and delivery of evidence-based strategy projects for the group that increased their revenue by 30% in the first year of implementation.
He also designed the brand and corporate communication strategy that drove awareness and competitive positioning, as well as a cost optimization plan which reduced operating and financial expenses by 20%. The overarching impact of these initiatives increased their headcount from 100 to 1,000, revenue from NGN 2bn to NGN 50bn, and office locations from 5 to 50.
Outside of work, he enjoys mentoring youths and this led him to cofound the Finance Professional Network. A community of over 2,000 professionals across Africa and Europe. These young professionals are mentored on how to succeed professionally and this has led to outcomes such as members securing internships and full time offers at leading firms such as Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, United Nations and the World Bank.
In addition, Collins founded the โThe Value Tableโ a monthly initiative that bring together entrepreneurs, public sector professionals, asset/wealth managers and expert/consultants from development institutions. The goal is to beam light on key opportunities in a variety of sectors and how they can be harnessed for our collective benefit.
