Hi there, I'm Nace Plesko - a highly motivated and enthusiastic software engineer with a growth mindset and a passion for learning. Most recently I have worked for a San Francisco-based startup where I got experience in maintaining MVP features and infrastructure for customer support, designing cloud-based event-driven infrastructure for real-time data sync from external systems, and implementing microservices using NodeJS and Typescript for duplicate data detection and management. In my previous role as a Software Engineer at Appian, I led a team that supported a customer with rigorous demands on concurrency, scalability, and security. I also contributed to the engineering efforts of RPA codebase migration and improved bot management, design, and execution performance, as well as automation testing, and developer experience.

Before that, I worked as an Investment Systems Intern at Barings, where I identified bottlenecks and improved efficiency for the Portfolio Services team. In addition, I have experience as a Teacher Assistant for Program & Data Representation at the University of Virginia, where I led lab sessions, held office hours, and graded exams for a challenging computer science course focused on data structures, covering C++, C, and x86.

I earned a Bachelor’s degree with Distinction, Double major in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Virginia in 2019. I am skilled in programming languages such as Java, Typescript, and Python, frameworks and libraries like React, Node.js, and Spring, cloud platforms like GCP and AWS, and databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. I am also proficient in DevOps tools such as Docker, Jenkins, Prefect, and Git, and am experienced in Agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban.

In addition to my technical skills, I have strong communication and collaboration skills, team leadership skills, and am fluent in English and Slovenian. I received the Impact Award (Q1 - 2022) for exceptional contribution to Appian’s business and the Gus Tebell Memorial Award for being the fourth-year male student-athlete at the University of Virginia with the highest cumulative GPA.

I lived in the United States for seven years, but now I moved back to my home country. I'm looking for remote software engineering jobs that let me work from Slovenia.
