As Executive Director for The Light House Station, I provide strategic, financial, and overall leadership for the nonprofit organization. I also coordinate large fundraising events and give frequent public presentations. I take care in setting a positive tone for the staff and manage a grant writer as well.
As a Program Coordinator at Cornell Cooperative Extension, I provided
planning and leadership over program development and execution for this nonprofit organization. My scope included defining community initiatives around nutrition and wellness, creating marketing programs, managing budgets for grant funding, and directing staff/volunteers for weekly outreach programs. I also planned and coordinated community events, such as nutrition workshops, food giveaways, and a cooking club for seniors. I was able to interact with an enormous variety of people and found ways to align their goals with community needs, and this was one of my favorite parts of this job.
One of my proudest achievements is leading the startup of a grant-funded food prescription program that allowed local doctors to provide vouchers for farm-grown seasonal produce. I opened and established relationships with community leaders, local farmers, and physicians to cultivate partnerships and organize the logistics for this innovative project that benefits the health and agriculture sectors as well as our community at large.
Prior to my time at Cornell, I learned how much I enjoy leading and training teams. As part of Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shieldโs first business development initiative, I trained and guided account coordinators for success in achieving sales goals, writing and designing training manuals, and also developed slide decks to educate business units with which we were collaborating. At the same time, I also maintained the Excel databases for the project, and I very much enjoyed sitting at this intersection of training, leadership, and program logistics.
With experience in a large insurance company, a small SaaS firm, and a nonprofit, I have gained a broad foundation in business operations, and I have nurtured my core competencies of program management, relationship building, communication, and client service. I am passionate about building community, leading and supervising teams, and overseeing projects from conception to reality.
I relish the chance to embrace new opportunities and challenges. I look forward to speaking with you!
