My name is Lucas, Iโm 31 years old, and Iโm passionate about music, technology, and learning new things โ from martial arts to musical instruments and, of course, programming.
This curiosity led me to pursue a degree in Mechatronics Engineering, followed by a postgraduate degree in Software Engineering. Iโm currently studying for a Masterโs in Systems Engineering with a focus on IoT. But my career didnโt start in a lab โ it started in classrooms. During college, I worked as a freelance tutor in physics and math, and thatโs when I unexpectedly discovered my passion for teaching.
While at university, I participated in research projects involving IoT and microcontroller programming. One of those projects โ a smart cane that helps visually impaired people detect obstacles โ earned us first place in a 2016 innovation award. That was when I realized the power of combining technology with purpose.
After graduating, I went through a year of self-study before joining a startup focused on IoT and data. There, I developed not only technical skills in electronics, data analysis, and model building, but also essential soft skills like public speaking, persuasion, and team and activity management.
In 2021, I had the opportunity to work at KPMG, one of the worldโs leading consulting firms. I developed RPA solutions that reduced manual accounting work by up to 70%, and I built data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Power BI โ integrating sources like OneDrive, APIs, and Telegram alerts.
At the same time, I returned to teaching, giving tech-focused classes to high school students preparing to enter the job market. Itโs been a rewarding way to help shape young professionals while sharing my enthusiasm for technology.
More recently, I accompanied my wife to the U.S. โ she works in project management โ and I worked there as a construction site supervisor. It was an incredible challenge: managing crews, reading technical plans, organizing materials, and even doing real-time translation between English, Portuguese, and Spanish on-site. Nothing like solving both technical and language problems at the same time to test your limits!
All these experiences have given me a broad perspective โ technical, human, and hands-on. I enjoy working on a team, Iโm driven by challenges, and I truly believe good technology is the kind that solves real problems. Iโm excited to contribute to innovative projects and keep growing.
Sincerely,
Lucas Arneiro Vieira
