I’m a Monash University alumnus and have recently completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health (Masters Level PGDip) as of November 2019. Furthermore, I previously completed my Bachelor of Public Health, at the same establishment in 2017.
The initial undertakings learnt from my bachelor’s degree has portrayed the critical importance of research, with a heavy emphasis on conducting and producing scientific writings in the form of; journal articles, research proposals, and literature reviews and was required to be conducted regularly as part of my curriculum. With aspects learnt from conducting various written tasks, research and the dissemination of knowledge in public health was emphasised, with my overall outtake learnt from my undergraduate in public health was to, effectively and accurately provide relevant information in a timely manner.
Methods in data; collection, analysis, and dissemination was also learnt, with health information systems, health promotion, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and data management (IBM SPSS/Atlas.ti), as other aspects that stood-out to me, which drove me to further explore these concepts in the postgraduate diploma course.
Further exploration in these concepts has continued to solidify my interests in public health, which is why I’m highly motivated to peruse a career in the field of research.
My main area of interest, as mentioned above is research, with my previous internship at CARe South Africa, perpetuating this interest. From my experience working at this organization, conducting both qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and management, in addition to developing strategies in mobilizing communities in the study as part of my responsibilities were undertaken.
Thus, the experience and knowledge gained from undertaking these responsibilities is why I believe I can effectively address the responsibilities laid out by your organization. I have the necessary knowledge but would find the experience gained imperative.
