Graduated (May 2022) in the integrated and holistic field of Development and Sustainability from AIT, Thailand, I am an Environmental engineer with 2.5 yearsโ experience in the field of education. I believe in measuring impact, and I like to analyse and interpret not the numbers shown by the data, but the lives represented by the data. This is what my previous job required me to do at an education NGO as an Impact Officer. Before I left to pursue my Master's, I recruited an officer for my replacement. I helped design the competency-based interview questions, took interviews along with my team, and worked together with the newly appointed officer for a month. I have worked on promotional videos to advertise the position taking a proactive approach to the recruitment process before completely leaving my job.
I practised story-telling with the experience I have gathered from being in the field and combined it with data analysis skills. This has helped me raise a lot of funds. I have conducted multiple fundraisers for different social causes. I volunteered with VSO-ICS (Voluntary Service Overseas-International Citizen Service) for 3-months where I was placed in a sub-rural village of Sankhu in Kathmandu. There I was paired with English volunteers to serve the community. This experience taught me to live, work and adapt to a cross-cultural group of people and a voluble translator by the end of three months
Over the years, I have developed a keen interest in interdisciplinary learning and approach towards development issues. I have been consistently praised for my in-depth research work and writing in recognition of which I received two awards in AIT. The experience I have gathered through these years whether volunteering at a film festival or working as a researcher at the University has only been so venturesome as an engineer and added value to what I have become today.
I have always believed I am a good communicator with perceptions and visions that I want to share through my stories but unable to do so. This is mostly because I come from a technical background that deals with data and numbers. We underestimate the power of story-telling that needs to be accompanied along with those numbers. I am looking forward to writing pieces that make readers empathise with it and are motivated to research what they have read.
