I'm David. I've made it my mission to make a living coding since 2019 when I deep-dived into python. I found an internship as a BI Analyst at a german e-commerce company, at first for three months full-time, where I ended up staying part-time for an extra two years and five months.
Python experience.
I solidified my python knowledge and became great at extracting data from all kinds of sources (e.g. ga, ftp, email, pdf) and wrangling it with sql and pandas. I used streamlit and powerbi to visualize the data as well as some analyses that I programmed with the help of scikit-learn and seaborn (survival rate, market basket, segmentations, time series)
I dabbled with airflow and Django, but our data needs didn't justify the work of setting those up.
JS experience.
In 2021 I joined Emprende-SEO, a digital services company, as a tech lead. My job is to develop technical solutions for our customers, mostly in the form of websites (front-ends) and third-party integrations (APIs). This was a great opportunity for me to deep-dive into js. For a framework, I decided on svelte, since it was the closest to a classic website (html + style and script tags) and it was a great decision! Svelte sets up a tsconfig.json which, paired with the awesome extensions in vs code, taught me type-checked js from day one and got me used to writing jsdoc for every file and function.
Lastly, because we have a client who might not have a tech department, I learned to use strapi as a headless CMS for them to manage content. In the future, I'd like to build a CMS that you can add to a sveltekit installation.
Knowledge gaps.
I'm kind of a functional programmer. I don't use classes a lot, frequently for typing expected data structures
I'm not used to writing tests, but it's something I want to focus on becoming proficient at
I've used docker for work and personal projects but am far from a seasoned user
Misc tech.
I've spent a fair bit of time on aws (s3, ec2, rds, iam)
First things I install on a fresh (windows) laptop: git, anaconda, terminal preview (tabs + open last session), AutoHotkey, wsl2 + ubuntu, npm, vs code, sublime
Aside from my role at E-SEO I currently work as a software developer at a logistics company providing data solutions using sql, flask, svelte, and edge extensions
Personal.
Co-workers always ask me if I shouldn't be wearing a dark metal hoodie and big headphones but the reality is that I like: Going to the gym, walking, lying in the sun, talking to people, and mostly all music (though largely electronic)
