I have always had a passion for solving puzzles. I also enjoy tackling new and different challenges. Being a software developer allows me to combine these interests professionally. For over 15 years I have written software across a variety of disciplines - finance, healthcare, adTech, hardware, and infographics. While each discipline was unique, the same fundamental principles of software design and testing were essential to the development process.

As the Development Team Lead on an application that that reported on financial aspects of loans, I analyzed and implemented improvements that dramatically improved the performance and stability of the system. By implementing data caching in the application, modifying database indexes and adjusting the algorithms, user workflows were completed faster each reporting cycle and the production maintenance costs declined.

On another project that I lead, I redesigned the end-to-end automated system testing framework utilized by the development team. By the end of the project, a full test cycle went from completing once every 3 days to running continuously with a full test run completing every 6 hours. This had a dramatic impact on the team's ability to release software frequently with full regression coverage.

Solving puzzles isn't my only passion. For the past twenty-three years, I have volunteered with a youth leadership non-profit focused on developing community oriented young leaders. Throughout the years, this position has expanded from a junior group facilitator to the chair of the organization. Through this role I have learned non-profit fundraising, lead a team of 100 volunteers, and operated a 3-day leadership conference for over 200 students annually.

My areas of expertise are Java, SQL, agile software development processes, and software design.
