Software Engineer interested in building products people love in agile environments with a focus on high-quality tests, automation, and security.
Currently, I am studying an Artificial Intelligence Professional Program at Stanford University to expand my skills.
I'm part of the Spring Engineering team at VMware after the Pivotal acquisition.
We are a fully remote team building products and frameworks to help people adopt microservices architecture and improve the experience of Java and Spring in Kubernetes and Cloud Foundry by providing a secured product, highly available, with platform-specific features.
We practice eXtreme Programming, Test Driven Development, Continuous integration, and delivery, follow some Site Reliability Engineering disciplines, and contribute to and maintain several Open Source projects.
Recently, I have been an instructor at OโReilly, and have spoken at major software conferences, such as the largest software conference in Europe, the largest Java conference in America, and other online conferences with thousands of attendees. The full list can be found here: albertoimpl.com/about/
Lately, I have been doing 1:1 mentoring for underrepresented minorities to help them develop their skills and succeed in the industry.
Before I worked as an eXtreme Programming consultant on a variety of projects and products, including banking and booking systems, and IoT platforms.
I was part of the Cloud Foundry Open Source team, one of the largest distributed teams that practised eXtreme Programming.
I also have been the technical co-founder of a few companies:
* Duel.fm where we tried to gamify the way music is discovered. We were awarded by the LaunchHouse accelerator program in Ohio.
We closed it because we pivoted to a product we were not happy about and the competition released a very similar idea very well executed.
* ProHealth where we tried to help to secure and connect medical records. We were awarded by the Bolt accelerator program in Mรกlaga, Spain, finalist of the Pasion>ie by the Instituto de Empresa, finalists of the Fundetec award, finalist of the AJE award by the Sevilla entrepreneurship association and we were chosen by the 100 paths to success by the Cajasol Institute.
We closed it because we were not able to get a customer before running out of our personal investment money.
* Loadness where we created tools for measuring the performance of top-level competitive teams and were able to make it mildly profitable.
We closed it because we were not able to scale it well enough.
