In this role, you will report to the Political Director. This role will play an instrumental part in our multi-year strategy to save democracy by recruiting candidates to run for local election administrator or other down-ballot offices that safe-guard our institutions and processes. The primary responsibility in this role will be to assist in the execution of our recruitment plan by conducting research, completing tactics and collaborating with external partners that will advance our mission and accomplish our stated goals. This position will also track and maintain project related metrics, in order to provide meaningful updates to the political director and other internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the development of future plans and strategies that will expand our recruitment efforts to other down-ballot offices.ย ย \n\n\nResponsibilities\nDemocracy Manager will help RFS accomplish our strategic imperatives via:\n\nDiverse candidate recruitment of local election officials (70%)\n- Work across multiple departments to manage and support the execution of a strategic recruitment plan for offices that are central to the stability of democracy and the democratic process\n- Working with the Senior Political Manager as well as RFS leadership to identify and nurture strategic partnerships to advance the goals of our recruitment plan\n- Conduct accurate and independent research on other down-ballot offices where we can recruit candidates in identified target states\n- Maintain and grow our โdemocracy championโ designation for โclerk workโ candidates. This includes recruiting candidates to apply for said designation and facilitating specialty training and resources. \n\nTracking and maintaining project related metrics, records and correspondences (15%)\n- Compose weekly memo to note progress and meaningful updates to key stakeholders and external partners.\n- Maintain a reservoir of project (clerk work/local election official) related materials, content and dataย \n- Develop/engage tool(s) that will track progress to goals and report out to the department director on a regular basis.\n\nPlanning & Innovation (15%)\n- Identify opportunities for Run for Something to scale local election official recruitment work\n- Research data related to other offices that are central to preserving democracy (filing deadlines, electoral processes, etc. related to positions such as library board, school board, or university regent)ย ย \n\n\nKey Goals\nSuccess in this role will look like:\n\n- Assisting in the management and coordination of our plan to recruit local election administrators - activities towards this end include but not limited to: Overseeing microsite for clerk work recruitment, securing 25 โDemocracy Championโ designations, carrying out tactics associated with a public education campaign, assisting in maintaining partner relationships, developing future phases of recruitment strategies\n- Expanding strategic partnerships that can help identify warm leads for candidate recruitment\n- Assisting in the creation of recruitment plans and strategies for other elected offices that are central to preserving democracy\n\n\nQualifications\n- Multi-year experience with political (or issue-based) campaignsย \n- Strong research skills\n- An ability to cultivate and maintain strategic (project specific) partnerships\n- Familiarity with navigating G-Suite application\n- Unwavering commitment to democracy and our democratic institutions\n- Strong written and verbal communication skills\n- Comfortable with navigating ambiguity\n- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills\n- Ability to assess, prioritize and anticipate workload based on assigned deadlines and overall goals\n- An ability to make connections or draw parallels between two things to advance a particular goal (strategic thinking)\n- Experience leading a project from start to finish that produces favorable results\n- Demonstrated ability to work in and contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment\n- Ability to demonstrate Run for Somethingโs organizational values: Bold & Fearless; Open & Honest; Supportive & Respectful; Progressive & Diverse; Long-term & Strategic.\n- Ability to work independently for extended periods of time in a remote environment\n- Strong commitment to the Run for Something mission.\n\nPlus Qualifications\n- Experience managing a political (or issue-based) campaign\n- Experience staffing local elections (whether in a paid or volunteer capacity)Strong network of grassroots organizations in multiple states.\n\n\nRun for Something is committed to building teams that reflect the diversity of our candidates, and to building equitable and inclusive environments that fully leverage the skills, potential, and unique perspectives of our employees. The standard office hours at Run for Something are 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. based on the time zone that you reside in. In order to counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity, salaries are non-negotiable for new and current employees. Run for Something salary bands for a given staff level are benchmarked to the 75th percentile for our sector, and all new employees are paid at the entry point of those bands.
