As Contentfulโs Senior Legal Counsel dedicated to Privacy with some support to Product, you will advise and partner with our Engineering, Product, Security, Sales, Marketing, People, and other teams throughout the organization to manage legal risk and compliance with global privacy laws and regulations. On the privacy side, you will help develop and effectuate strategies and initiatives that focus on building a scalable privacy program. Success in this role requires a collaborative, services-oriented mentality, a willingness to embrace tactical details without missing strategic priorities, and skill in distilling complex legal concepts into simple, actionable business advice. This role will report directly to the VP & Deputy General Counsel - Privacy, Product, Compliance & IP. \nWhat to expect?\n\n\nSupport Contentfulโs operationalization of compliance with relevant privacy, data protection and cybersecurity laws and regulations โ particularly, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, ePrivacy Directive, and other forthcoming privacy laws in the U.S. and Europe\n\nDevelop and implement internal and external privacy notices, policies, procedures and guidelines and provide training related to same\n\nProvide practical legal advice and support to business teams on a wide range of privacy, data protection and cybersecurity laws and regulations\n\nReview and negotiate customer and supplier data processing agreements and security addenda\n\nCollaborate with Engineering, Product and other business partners at all stages of product development to identify privacy risks and and implement risk-mitigation processes and controls through privacy-by-design principles\n\nLead cross-functional privacy-related projects\n\nConduct data protection impact assessments, legitimate interest assessments and data transfer impact assessments\n\nManage and respond to data subject access requests and customer questions regarding Contentfulโs processing activities\n\n\n\nWhat you need to be successful?\n\n\n7+ years of strong privacy experience providing privacy-related advice to SaaS and/or other technology companies; Product experience desirable, but not required\n\nKnowledge of global privacy laws, regulations, guidance and standards\n\nStrong relationship-building skills and the ability to manage cross-functional teams\n\nCIPP certification\n\nA level of comfort in influencing and educating an organization on the importance of all elements of data protection and implementation of related initiatives, and capable of gaining respect of senior leaders in the organization\n\nExcellent judgment, analytical rigor, clear communication, and business pragmatism\n\nSolution-oriented approach in working with the business\n\nA proactive, self-directed approach, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively\n\n\n\nWhat's in it for you?\n\n\nJoin an ambitious tech company reshaping the way people build digital product\n\nFull-time employees receive Stock Options for the opportunity to share in the success of our company\n\nComprehensive health/dental/vision care package covering 100% of monthly premiums for employees \n\nWe value Work-Life balance and You Time!
