Remote Associate Litigation Counsel
\nWe are looking for a motivated and curious, solutions-oriented junior litigator to join our high-performing and highly collaborative legal department. Our team advises stakeholders across the company to help Checkr reach its business and fairness goals. As Associate Litigation Counsel, you will be a member of the Litigation and Compliance practice group, which works closely with Checkrโs internal teams and external counsel to manage litigation matters and execute litigation strategies in state and federal courts. You will also partner with internal teams to identify potential product or process improvements. \n\nResponsibilities:\n\n\nParticipate in managing/executing all aspects of litigation and other matters (e.g., subpoenas, demands) \n\n\n\nConduct factual investigation, case analysis, exposure analysis\n\nReview and revise pleadings and other litigation-related documents (e.g., declarations, motions, settlement agreements)\n\nHelp prepare witnesses for deposition\n\nAttend depositions, hearings, and mediations\n\nConduct legal research as needed\n\n\n\nMaintain case files and matter tracking systems \n\nWork with outside counsel to help formulate and execute nuanced litigation strategy \n\nPartner with team members and stakeholders to identify and implement product and process improvements\n\nDevelop an understanding of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and similar state laws and how they apply to Checkr products and services\n\nBuild cross-functional relationships to strengthen partnerships across the Company\n\nIdentify and manage techniques to increase the quality and efficiency of legal services \n\n\n\n\nWhat you bring:\n\n\n3+ years of substantive litigation experience\n\nJD degree and state bar admission in good standing \n\nInterest and enthusiasm towards new technologies, software, and services\n\nKnowledge of Fair Credit Reporting Act, employment laws, or criminal law is a plus, but not required\n\nExperience defending clients in highly regulated industries with consumer products and services is a plus, but not required\n\nYouโre an educator โ you can break down complicated laws and regulatory frameworks for non-lawyers \n\nYouโre a skeptic โ youโre passionate about understanding how things work, and the first answer you find is rarely enough\n\nYouโre a clear communicator โ you give practical advice in a fast-paced environment\n\nYouโre flexible โ youโre enthusiastic about learning and working on new subject matters \n\nYou have a great sense of humor โ obviously\n\n\n\n\nWhat you get\n\n\n* A fast-paced and collaborative environment\n\n* Learning and development allowance\n\n* Competitive compensation and opportunity for advancement\n\n* 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage\n\n* Up to 25K reimbursement for fertility, adoption, and parental planning services\n\n* Flexible PTO policy\n\n* Monthly wellness stipend, home office stipend\n\n\n\n\n*The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors.
